Ok he is Injured.. but just how injured is he??

Is he really going to be out till the new year.. ??

I just don't get the CL squad...

Going by the theory of Clyne being injured... Lallana is in it.. yet he is injured and not expected to be back till November..

and we have two player in the squad who are currently out on loan !!!

UTD on the other hand have Zlatan in there CL squad.. he ain't back till January..

*confused*

Clyne has a back injury according to physioroom.com. The extent of it, unknown, but it's probably bad like you hinted.
With Gomez and TAA looking good in that position I'm not too worried. Milner is also a decent option.

He's now expendable with TAA and Gomez coming through. Wish him a speedy recovery but he'll have a tough time breaking back into the lineup.

Hold on, Clyne is not in the CL squad? Really?

Yes Clyne, Markovic and Ings all Couldn't Make It.

Lapland and Coutinho are in though.

Liverpool squad for the Champions League group stages: Simon Mignolet, Loris Karius, Danny Ward, Dejan Lovren, Ragnar Klavan, Alberto Moreno, Andy Robertson, Joel Matip, Jon Flanagan, Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner, Philippe Coutinho, Jordan Henderson, Marko Grujic, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Emre Can, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Daniel Sturridge, Sadio Mane, Dominic Solanke.

B-List: Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Masterson, Cameron Brannagan, Ovie Ejaria, Rhian Brewster, Ben Woodburn, Harry Wilson.

Who's lapland?

It obviously depends what the injury specifically is. When Ojo suffered a minor stress fracture in his back, he was out for six months (after which he only just returned to training rather than playing). That would at least fit the apparent time line for Clyne's supposed absence. There's been a rumour that with Clyne it's some kind of herniated disc, which I guess is the most common back problem for footballers, but I suspect that's just speculation. I think if Clyne did have a disc problem they would surely have operated by now - certainly when John Terry suffered a herniated disc Chelski tried physiotherapy for a couple of weeks before opting for surgery (and he was back playing a few weeks later).

This injury seems to have started in May, so he's three months into a back injury and presumably isn't expected for the group stages.

So that will be in or around six months out with a back injury.

Thats not good at all

And as they showed with Ojo, this medical team are VERY cautious when managing rehab with this kind of injury.

Herniated disc is also what I have suspected because of the lack of return date. I´m not a doctor but I think that nowadays they try to avoid surgery until there are no other solution?

Yup - i now have four.

For footballers these days, I believe, the surgery has become so precise and effective it's much more likely than it used to be. But it depends on the nature of the problem of course, and some medical departments at clubs still favour a wait and see policy. But as I said, when they DO decide to operate it's usual - noting recent examples - for it to happen sooner rather than later, so we'd surely would have heard by now.

I always get suspicious when a club is vague about a player's injury and length of time out..........it makes me think of failed drug tests. Has anyone at LFC actually confirmed that he has a back injury?

Yes. Klopp's said it several times, but without suggesting it was a serious problem.

Full squad (from the Echo): Loris Karius, Simon Mignolet, Danny Ward, Dejan Lovren, Joe Gomez, Ragnar Klavan, Alberto Moreno, Andy Robertson, Joel Matip, Jon Flanagan, Conor Masterson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Gini Wijnaldum, James Milner, Philippe Coutinho, Jordan Henderson, Marko Grujic, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Emre Can, Cameron Brannagan, Ovie Ejaria, Sheyi Ojo, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Daniel Sturridge, Sadio Mane, Dominic Solanke, Ryan Kent, Rhian Brewster, Ben Woodburn, Harry Wilson

Fair enough. We are very well covered at right back with AA, Flanagan and Gomez but hopefully Clyne is back soon either to increase competition or just as a very saleable asset.

I think I read somewhere that the lists had to be submitted the same day as deadline day. So jürgen may have submitted the list he wanted prior to those going out on loan.

He's not as good as TAA or Gomez in my book. Offer him back to Soton when we go back in for VVD in Jan. Or some such bollocks.

I think that is very harsh on Clyne.
On his day he is right up there with the best full backs in the Premier League and is solid and ultra dependable pretty much always.
He did seem to regress a tad last season and his attacking instincts have been well curtailed but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, especially if he was playing with a long standing injury.

Anyway, Kent and Ojo are in the B-list* so it doesn't matter. We can register an unlimited number so we can always pop then back in if their loan is cut short for any reason.

(this makes them...Blisters?)

I've never really seen him as anything more than a steady, decent full back. But then Finnan was a 7/10 every week fella, and I liked him. Maybe I just don't like Clyne. Hard to like any footballers these days, and it is all opinion. If he's been playing with a long-standing injury then kudos to him. Sometimes I (like everyone else) take a dislike to a player for no reason. Clyne is more of a 'meh' to me. Although his name does remind me of one of my favourite scenes from The Blues Brothers.

"Suppose we go in there and play anyway. What are you going to do about, Clyne? You're gonna looks pretty funny trying to eat corn on the cob with no fucking teeth!"

I've always been ambivalent about Clyne.

But i've just realised he has a tattoo of himself on his arm.

The tattoo is of me as a baby holding a football — it’s actually a picture of me in my mum’s house and I thought it would be good to get it written on to my arm,’ he said.

‘I was about three at the time. I always wanted to be a footballer and I followed my brother because he was always playing in the park.
