Chelsea were in for him ...
Now West Ham

He's 27 ... Spurs will sell - only 10 starts last year - and he's still an excellent player. Can play up front, on the flanks, in the middle - and is a smart, creative player.

Anyone thinks we should be in for him too?

I was speaking to a couple of Fulham fans a few weeks ago. They were both old enough to remember the 1975 FA Cup Final (a turgid affair that Fulham lost 2-0 to West Ham) and I asked them who was the best Fulham player they've ever seen......................they both said Dembele (ahead of Louis Saha) and they both said they were stunned he wasn't used more at Spurs. They predicted that his time would come again and if a top 4 team signed him he would prove his worth many times over.

I have to say I've been impressed everytime I've seen him play.

He's a powerful runner with the ball and can be quite direct. Haven't seen much of him at Spurs but he was good at Fulham. I'm not sure of his best position either. Similar to Henderson?

He's been a bit of dick when we've played against him. I remember Sterling knocking him on his arse too.

He's a really good player technically and physically, but suffers from not really having a specific position in which he shines. I don't know his best position.

Naah, he's a powerful runner, but he doesn't score enough to be an AM, and he doesn't know how to influence games as a CM.

I quite like Dembele. Hes pretty rare in that he's a central midfielder who likes to run with the ball and beat people - he was great at Fulham, but why hasn't he made it at Spurs; not good enough for the step up in standard or not used properly?

Another concern would be about his motivation - which I believe Sherwood questioned....although as Sherwood is a wanker, maybe not getting on with him is another plus point for Moussa

I think we need specialist players now - a proper CB, a proper DM and a proper striker. I know the official story is Rodgers likes flexible players for his fluid system, but I think the truth is more like we've settled into a neurotic obsession with hedging our bets with most of our signings over the past few years, getting players who might not be great but can do a job in three or more positions. And that's shown itself in too many games - players being swapped around to not be good enough on one side, then the other, then deeper, then more forward. It's a specious kind of prudence in the market. For me, Dembele falls into that category: not really good enough to make one position his own and improve the team, but someone who'll do this and that reasonably well. We need to make serious judgements this summer about players and then back that judgement with whatever it takes.

NEEEEXT!!

And the fact that he is completely and utterly incompetent in front of goal, very reminiscent to Joe Allen in that respect. I don't how many times I've watched both players and thought "surely he has to score here" just before an opportunity presents itself only to see them hilariously fail to score a goal.

Dembele 118 appearances for Spurs...5 goals.

Joe Allen 95 appearances for Liverpool...4 goals.
