Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has hit out at the English press once again, claiming he left Anfield for Barcelona because he was "tired" of the media.

The Uruguay international ended his three-and-a-half year association with Liverpool last summer when he joined the Catalan giants.

Suarez was involved in several controversies during his time in England and says the behaviour of the national media, whom he feels "miss" him, prompted him to make the switch to La Liga.

He told beIN SPORTS: "I don't know if there is a campaign of the English press towards me, but it can be seen that they miss me. They criticise me so much that they look for something that is not there to draw attention.

"They published images of me (next to Demichelis) in the morning and when they saw that that was false those images disappeared off the pages. I said enough and that they leave me alone and that I went because I was tired of them, but yet they are still looking [for me]."

The 28-year-old also revealed his delight at fulfilling his dream of playing for "the best club in the world".
He added: "I am very happy at Barca, I fulfilled a dream to play at the best club in the world and now I am enjoying it. I am contributing things to the team and that leaves me calmer and makes me feel important.

"The family are very happy in Barcelona and enjoying a city that we knew. The children are in the school and my wife is very happy."

For someone who professes to hold the English press in contempt - which would be understandable - he still seems to read them with remarkable care and attention. Why doesn't he just do what all good Spanish league players do and try to tap up English players via Marca? Or play cards with his beloved father-in-law.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has re-iterated his happiness at Anfield and admits he still has hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
The Uruguay international is, however, keen to talk about his contract with the club either this summer or next.
Suarez signed an improved deal, which runs until 2018, last August but he is reportedly a target for incoming Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola when CARLransfer window reopens.

Asked by Spanish radio station Marca if Liverpool should talk about his future in the summer, he said: "Yes, we should talk this June or the next one, in 2014. My contract ends in 2018.
"I'm very happy here and my family love the life here too.
"I want to enjoy being at this club where I, like all the kids, dreamed of playing and now I'm fulfilling that dream.
"I'm very pleased and very happy because Liverpool is growing.

He has a variant of the Robbie Keane 'boyhood club' disease
I know someone who used to play footy all the time with Robbie Keane as a kid. When we were signing him I asked her if he used to wear Liverpool shirts. She said that he was always wearing one unless he had his Man United one on.

I wish Suarez was still playing for us.
He's such a fantastic player and made us so much better.
Being a latin player it's no wonder he considers Barcelona to be the greatest club in the world. There are quite a few British players who'd leave their club is Barcelona (or Madrid) came calling.
And BTW, the English press is shit - they keep looking for sensational items and they never let him breath.

The guy has been done for biting 3 times and racism so he isn't exactly an angel himself

Fantastic player though.

I think we'll all agree that we wish he still played for us, but the whole 'media made me leave, woe is me' angle he's playing is getting old.

It's like when you're seeing a girl and they start acting mental, you make an excuse to leave while deflecting the blame as to not hurt their feelings.

We're the mental girl, and Suarez is the man-bastard.
