Looks like he could be our new left back.
Would be a very good signing if true, and an improvement from last year.

On Rory Smith's twitter.

RT @benlyt: Not seen this in today's papers but Maynor #Figueroa agent said yday that deal to #Liverpool "is 90% done". #Wigan #LFC

Excellent news. i wouldn't mind the supposed Bridge signing if he's back up to Figueroa.

A really solid premiership full-back with pace.

I'll be happy cos most other people seem to be happy with him. Given that we can't afford an "Ashley Cole" for LB, then I'll go with what makes the majority happy.

Any projected costs of the transfer?

Mirror says Bridge is going nowhere. Mind you it is the the Mirror.

translated it in english for you 🙂

"Almost everything is fixed"

TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS
The representative of Maynor Figueroa, Jean Marc Goire, confirmed the strong interest of Liverpool in the Honduran defender.

Moreover, he dared to say that "almost everything is settled, just missing a few details to confirm the signing.

Maynor has 90 percent of the possibilities to leave Wigan. "

The Reds managed to Maynor for 8 million euros and will be starting next season the sole owners of the services side.

Maynor is maintained homes in the country and nothing else expects his team convened to finalize his contract to go to Wigan and settle in Liverpool.

Testing began

England and the Reds are making some medical tests to their players.

Yesterday it was the turn to Joe Cole, the midfielder who was transferred from Chelsea for 9.3 million euro. Roy Hodgson, the Liverpool manager, closed its first contract to be Cole Figueroa and expects to be his next signing.

8m Euros? He'd better be an improvement on Insua - although that may not be too hard. Oh and the translation above suggests we paid in excess of 9m euros for Joe Cole, so is it that trusted?

Prefer Figueroa to Bridge, who will only be 'going nowhere' if nobody wants to buy him. Mind you, those clueless cunts at Man Shitty gave him a 100K a week contract, which nobody will match.

There's going to be an exodus at Shitty

Yeah, that was a bit strange. I'm guessing something has gotten lost in translation there.

8 mill euros is a good deal if you ask me.

Read somewhere today that they have 37 players in the first team set up. Thats insane.

If it's concluded in the next few days it's too late for the EL 1st leg but what about the second ?

27 years old, 5 ft 11 inches.

I think he's very good actually. Good pace, strong in the tackle, good in the air and has a bit of ability on the ball.
He'll be an improvement from last year, and will develop even further in a team like ours. Just look at Palacios when he went to Spurs.

8 million euros in full is a bit steep for a full back.. we should be looking at 6 million + 2mill incentives.

Not a catastrophe defensively, nor a whirlwind going forward. A solid full back. Miles better than Insua, but as said above, that's not saying much.

Prefer him over the snail Bridge anyday.

Bridge is a horrific player.

He's one of those who has had their reputation enhanced because we never got the opportunity to see how shit they were on a regular basis. cf Woodgate, Cudicini.

£6.7m - sounds about right. He's certainly more than £1.7m better than Insua was last season. I feel relieved that we've at least got one PL-proven, quick, consistent, experienced LB in. Shame he didn't make the cut for the first Europa match, but never mind - Wigan were probably trying to extort more money due to our urgency. I still think we need to sign a back-up LB too though. Even if Figueroa is 'never injured', you can't expect him to play 60 games a season. Sell one of our seven CBs and buy a good LB/LW.

that's all very well, but if he lacks bravery and determination and a will to win every game, he could become a horrible failure. then £6.7m will no longer sound so nice to you

He is big, strong and pacy. Figuerao will be rock solid. I'm pretty happy because he is better than Bridge and almost never injured. Darby. Or one of the youngsters as back up? If it does happen like that I'll be pretty pleased.

Liverpool are odds-on favourites to sign Manchester City defender Wayne Bridge - despite the left-back reportedly being told he has a future at Eastlands. The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield for several weeks now and as of Sunday afternoon had been cut to 4/6 with Sky Bet to join Liverpool before the transfer window closes on September 1st.

4/6 Liverpool
7/1 Tottenham
9/1 Aston Villa
16/1 Newcastle United

...and whilst we are at it :

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is preparing for his first season in La Liga, but betting is already underway on which Premier League he will take charge of should he return to England, with Liverpool favourites ahead of both Manchester City and Manchester United

6/4 Liverpool
2/1 Manchester City
10/3 United
12/1 Arsenal.
16/1 Chelsea

It's a dream scenario that within a year we get shut of the owners, Purssssslow, Old Uncle Roy, and get some proper investment and a great manager like Mourinho in at Liverpool.

Then 2010 will seem like a bad dream, and we can all pretend it didn't happen

According to someone over on TLW, Purslow isn't on holiday but is actually negotiating about a player from Real Madrid.

I posted the link about Royston Drenthe last night, could be him on loan. He's a left winger, than can play as a full back.
