Could be, we have certainly been used in both the Remy saga this year and Lavezzi last season.

According to Rory Smith, there was a short list of about 6 players give or take for the left fullback position. Figueroa was certainly one of them. But as you say, it's very strange that there have been no direct quotes from Martinez or Hodgson.

Why is it strange not to have seen any quotes from either club? That's pretty much how we've been operating in this transfer window. And indeed how we should be. I don't find that suspicious at all.

The agent has said "just a few details remain before we confirm the signing.", which doesn't really indicate an agent after an improved contract for his client. Usually, if that's the case, they stick to 'x are interested in my client'. I think we're just waiting for the Insua deal to go through, because from the looks of it we've got nothing in the way of captal.

Yup, we were linked with a Valencia player every season under Rafa, though to be fair they were usually quite good players.

According to someone on another site, Figueroa has had his medical and the signing will be announced today or tomorrow.

Great if true, but nothing about this transfer is easy to predict. His agent is doing all the talking it seems....
