i was completely buzzing off everton until the last hour of the window. they can field a very good first eleven.

Everton have a superb side now, the fuckers.

There is no weakness apart from squad depth. Their starting 11 is superb.

Are you kidding me? It's mostly a bunch of average players who work extremely hard.
What, Coleman is world class now?
They'll get found out sooner or later.

I wouldn't mind Martinez doing well even if it is at Everton, particularly if Moyes continues to struggle at United.

I wouldn't go as far as DB but I really think people underestimate Everton. They've got the best left back in the league, Jagielka is a superb centre half. Add to that Barclay, who is already a top player and could be as good as Gerrard if he carries on, Old head Barry to keep an eye on Barclay and McCarthy. Then on the wings Mirallas who is lightning quick and can score a goal, Pienaar for the balance on the other side. Then big fucking lukaku up front....

And then there is shitty old goodison which is as tough a place to go as anywhere.

They've got a very good chance of top 4 if they can stay clear of injuries. The league is a bit far but don't write them off for the CL places.

Everton wont get into the top 4. They'll finish in the top 6-8.
Good balanced squad but with some obvious flaws aswell. McCarthy is a good player but obviously not worth 15 mill.

Lukaku is a great signing though. God knows what Mourinho was thinking. You'd think they can recall him in January if they have any sense at all.
Barry has been very good for them aswell.

What would the verdict be if Suarez handled the ball instead of Sturridge?

General outrage, lots of 'I told you so', committee deliberations held at 'FA HQ', dossiers, barristers, journalists sounding outraged on talk radio, quotes from the PM, season long ban, apocalypse, vast quantities of posts from the self-righteous on here etc etc

I don't even want to contemplate what may have happened if Suarez had done a 'Torres'. Life imprisonment possibly.

That Rodgers' "passing philospohy" appears to have been abandoned so frequently this season makes me wonder if he was simply the beneficiary of Martinez' work at Swansea, without which he is now unable to properly implement. The speed with which Everton has adopted Martinez' style only reinforces my doubts.

Interesting theory but I don't think it stacks up. For one thing I can't see Swansea having sustained that style throughout Rodgers' time in charge if it was that independent of his own efforts. For another I don't think we have abandoned it per se this season - we've failed to sustain it consistently for 90 minutes, but that's a somewhat different matter.

Nor, I'm afraid, do I think the Everton/Martinez comparison is that relevant. One could make the same point about Stoke under Hughes. By and large, footballers prefer playing football to implementing hoofball and breathe a sigh of relief when they change from the latter to the former. We saw the converse under GH when he lost his nerve and reverted to his previous crabwise style, despite the fact that we were 7 points in front of the rest at the time - the squad wilted before our eyes and we went on our worst run for half a century. It looks to me as though our current squad enjoys Rodgers' approach. It's new to quite a few of them and there's definitely work to be done, but I think we're on the right track and I reckon Rodgers deserves credit for that.

Any good reason why Jermaine Defoe is sitting on the bench while Soldado starts every premier league game?

I think there was an article on that recently.

The supposition was that AVB wants to play Soldado to form so he keeps playing him. Also, even though he has not scored much, he has formed a very good partnership with Eriksen and Sigurdsson. He'll prob be 'rested' for the next game when Spurs lose though.
