Torres moaning and not concentrating on hurting Villa by taking the game to them. Making it easy for them. Gerrard doesn't seem to give a fuck either. Only Reina and Johnson trying to up the tempo.

We simply can't pass the ball anymore.
Carra and Skrtel simply hoof it back to the opposition when they do get. Lucas and Mascherano aren't good passers themselves. There's simply no one in there anymore to get the ball through the midfield and to Torres+Gerrard. If we drop Gerrard back into midfield, we'll lose something upfront. We're pretty much fcuked right now.

Villa have flooded the midfield and we're having the ball intercepted time and again. We need to get at them down the flanks.

While he's a great defensive coach, we start every season sluggishly in defence and our marking from setpieces always takes a couple of months to get right. I think it's a massive issue and I mentioned it a few weeks back, inevitably it'll cost us. Last season we managed to claw back these sort of games, like the Boro one, let's hope we've got it in us to do it again.

The change is obvious, since we are sacrificing width for our attack, Gerrard drops back, Riera is out wide, we still get to have Benayoun running the channels, which is of course, his position. I don't like Benayoun out left, ever. I don't like Gerrard out there, I don't like Babel out there. We only have one player who plays LM like a LM.
Oh, and we'll never make the change at half time, Rafa will prove a point and leave Lucas on all game. It isn't that he is a prime reason for our failure in general play either, though his one two punch own goal doesn't help, it's just that our best solution doesn't involve him.

It's very worrying. Without Alonso, it seems like he's got even less confidence playing a short ball to Lucas or Mascher. He makes a great interception and then hoofs the ball to the opposition, and alas we're back on the defensive hoping Carra makes another interception. *shakes head*
