Match Thread Man City (A) - Sun Feb 23rd 16:30

I don't like how much of the ball city are getting outside our area, both centrally and out wide, but I can't fault just how well we've defended inside it, Konate and VVD are rocks as usual.

Yup those two are the best players on the pitched, followed by mo and Dom... robbo not bad either

The second goal was sublime football.

We're stacked on the bench to kill them on the counter. Slot should be buzzing with this situation.

Jones has contributed nothing. I am concerned about how much time they are getting in the infield and on the wings.

Konate and Virgil have been immense though

Tbh that was just a well worked chance. I've been impressed how up for this we've been.
What I said pre-match - that Arsenal loss was just perfect timing to get these lot fired up and they've been at it all game. Playing with fight and passion.

What a fucking first half.

City dominated the ball but we worked incredibly hard.

VVD + Konate incredible.

Robertson with some great interventions too.

Trent getting rinched.

Dom with a delicious goal and Jones with an assist, who needs a striker?

Diaz has worked his socks off and been a good outlet.

With all that said it’s all about that man Salah.

What a fucking half. We all said we needed our big players to step up.

Scores the first and sets up the second.

Had some lovely attacking moments on top of that beating his man, setting up Trent, and dare I say it he defended brilliantly at times covering Trent more than once to get back and hold up Doku.

Brilliant brilliant stuff.

Nowhere near over but hopefully City tire, we can get a third and rest some legs for Weds.

Huge chance here to put another finger on the trophy.

Was that the worst defensive performance we've ever seen from Trent? Is it worse than Man U?
We really need him to 'click' back in b/c PSG's attack will be even more dangerous and quick than Doku.

I'm pretty sure this is the tactic. We have totally nullified Foden as there is no room in midfield and when we get possession there is some superb passing in midfield to cut through them - those two goals aren't the only time. We look dangerous at virtually every attack.

We've had maybe another 3 occasions we shoulda/coulda scored with better decision making whilst I can't remember Ali being troubled even once at the other end - they are being reduced to shooting from distance.

Jones assist? Dom and Mo from my armchair
