Logically I think we're looking at Jota, Ali and maybe Trent.

No one will buy Salah and he's on stupid money so probably would milk it. Virgil isn't what he was.

Salah isn't on stupid money. He's on the sort of money that comes with being a top class player over a number of years. Sancho earns the same as Salah for fuck sake, Grealish is on similar money. Only a club as fucking tight as us would be fuming over paying our best players market rate.

As it stands PSG is probably his best move, Messi is leaving, they want rid of Neymar and Mo is the most high profile athlete in the Muslim world. The Qataris would love to have him

He's on stupid money for us. We can't be spending what United and City spend on wages.

He's being paid for what he has been for us, not what he is, and very much not what he will become. Combine that with the fact that he won't be that salable toward the end of his contract due to age, and the fact that we need to fund an overhaul of our squad...

He would be worth it if he was a difference maker.

What fucking difference is he making to this season? He plays every game which is good. If we play well, and he gets chances and is on the ball a lot, he is productive. The same is true of many forwards. If we don't play well, he's counterproductive at his worst, or just a nonevent. Its more noticable that Nunez leaves a game or doesn't start.

How could we play better? Investment elsewhere. Maybe not having to start with a 37 year old because our 18 year old best midfielder is injured from playing too much. Where could we get that investment. From John Henrys shriveled asshole? He's a fucking Midwesterner that ended up analytically managing southern Californian cash in Irvine. I lived in Irvine. Look up fashion island where he stationed his firm. He likes raking in money from rubes with bad face lifts, not spewing it out. The only chink in his armor is that he went for a hot wife and had another set of kids with her. Other than that there's zero suspicion that he has ever enjoyed anything, like a million other rich white new Englanders. They spend their money on boats called "benchmark" and other completely humourless names. I'm surrounded by the fuckers. Adapt to the reality.

I see there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth after this morning.

Thank god we have several weeks off so that we can all quietly contemplate the situation and gather a sense of perspective before the City game.

The site is always such a delightful and thoughtful place during international breaks and such like - and the team always comes back looking fresh and focused.

Hurrah!!!!

I could only glance at my phone screen while working during the match so take my thoughts as you will, but nothing happened yesterday that we didn't expect and we didn't learn anything we don't already know.

Best to stop the gnashing of teeth, hope Real draw City and knock that dog shagging cunt out of Europe again before unexpectedly losing to Napoli in the final.

We've got a huge run-in in the league ahead followed by a vitally important summer. Let's look forward, not back, and reap the sour grapes as our rivals hopefully also fall.

But everything we already knew means I'm not looking forward to anything for the rest of this season. Id like us to play well but we largely won't, and I don't give a fuck whether our owners win the 4th place cash trophy.

That was our last champions league game for quite a while anyway.

Stay positive Hal.

We'll finish 5th, the investigation into City's financial doping will have reached a verdict and they will be suspended from all UEFA competition for 5 years & then we'll take their spot. Better than finishing 4th for me.

I only care about 4th in so far as our summer will be shit without it, which will be the next domino to fall in a long line of disappointments as a supporter.

So, yeah, I do care about 4th, even if just as a means to an end.

Plus, the pints on matchdays taste better when I'm anticipating the match.
