Lucas returns from injury

Nah - you drop Coutinho to the bench and put Gerrard in there.
Lucas and Henderson for away games.
Drop Lucas for home games.

That wank midfield hammered Everton and Arsenal though. I think our midfield hasn't been better or worse - it's just been different. We've had games when we had Lucas in it and let in goals left and right too - 3-3 against Everton (2-2 when Lucas went off), 5-3 against Stoke, 3-1 against Hull, etc.

Gerrard and Lucas bring different things; Lucas is a better individual defender and is less susceptible when the guys in front of him aren't playing well, while Gerrard needs the guys ahead of him to function well for him to defend well, but is obviously the much better weapon when it comes to dealing damage to opponents.

Different horses for different courses, etc. Play whoever is fit, on form, and suits the tactics for the day.

That wank midfield also got outplayed by Southampton and Fulham

Yeah so Lucas will play further forward instead of Allen. The box to box wonder man we've all been waiting for...

There is zero point having Lucas higher up the pitch, his position is Gerrards current position and thats it.

If Lucas starts then Gerrard will have to go further forward because he ain't getting dropped.

Fuck knows, we just need to keep going as we are, for the moment Lucas should be on the bench and come on to help close out games or get a pressure free run out whilst saving Gerrards legs when we are 3 or 4 up.

Been far more valuable to us than Allen to be fair.
Neither of them have been of much value* at all since we signed them IMO but Allen (again IMO) has far more potential to come good than Lucas.

*Excepting Lucas's 2 good games....against City and Chelsea.

I'm not a massive Lucas fan, but he's had more than 2 good games for us. That's a bit unfair.

Lucas has a unique quality that no-one else in the squad can match. OK, some have that quality to a lesser degree, but no-one is quite as perfect at it as Lucas.

He is the archetypal & most complete opinion divider I have ever seen in all my years following Liverpool

And he doesn't even have to try to be good at it. He just is. What a man.

Ok don't drop Gerrard, drop Allen or Henderson. Lucas has to be on the pitch.

Ya when Lucas was in the team opponents were worried about how to break down our midfield.

Hilarious stuff modo. Our midfield got bypassed too often then and it gets bypassed now. Bringing in Lucas will change zilch from that point of view. But his hopeless sideways and backward passing will mean that we will definitely lose something in attack.

We've got 5 wins and 1 draw since he got injured. There is no way in hell he should just walk into the team.
He'll start on the bench and get some minutes when we need him. Great option to have aswell.

Allen's most likely to lose out to Lucas (in an advanced position).

Rodgers won't be shifting Gerrard out of that deep lying position.

Ryan, with that awful new chap in DM, we've got 16 points out of a possible 18.

Unless one of our CMs goes down, would you bring Lucas in? Or let the team play and win games as they're currently doing?

Firstly, we haven't got 16 from 18 with him in DM. You've been selective there. Off the top of my head, West Brom away, Villa at home - there's 4 dropped points.

Secondly; This might be hard for you to comprehend LTW, but the same 11 players don't play every week.

It's fucking mad I know.

Who picked Sterling to get rested/dropped/rotated last week for Joe Allen to come in? Not one of you. Who picked John Flanagan to start the derby at left back? None of you. Changes happen, and will continue too.

To suggest "Lucas won't make the team for the rest of the season" is pie-eyed bollocks, although at least it's not unexpected given it came from that fucking scoper. Gerrard will be suspended soon enough anyway.

You're the same dickhead who said he wouldn't get in the team at the start of the season.

He started every game bar one in the lead up to Christmas.

You're a bona fide moron.
Wind your head ya banana. Of course he'll be in the team. Jes you never seem to get it. Like the time I said Gerrard should be on a pay as you play contract.

Shhhhhhsh

Since Lucas got injured and became unavailable, we taken 16 out of 18 points.
Firstly, he shouldnt be an automatic starter after a lengthy lay off and will be eased back. Looked rusty against West Ham.
Secondly, he'll be an important player for us in the run in. Great option to have on the bench and to start in certain games when we need him.

He came into the Villa game as a sub I think.

I never said the same 11 players play every week ... but considering the current form of the middle 3 (those who haven't been rested - Gerrard, Hendo (bar injury) & Coutinho), I think it was a fair question to ask!

I don't agree with DB's stance as he will play if we get an injury, or suspension. He can still play an important role in the run in.

How many goals have conceded in those games?
How many times has our midfield been overrun?
Lucas will probably not start against Man U, but its not like our midfield has been sublime since he's been gone? You know midfielders are supposed to defend as well.

16 points in 18 games Modo. That's all that matters.

I guess that's not good enough for people who put players over teams though ... How very Danish of you!

If we win our next 10 games without him who cares
