Lucas returns from injury

Cant you fucking scopers just agree that everyone has played a part, and maybe some players were better ths some people thought but ultimately as a collective they will play 38 games between them and hopefully win the league.

You make it sound like he's had one good game there. This is all getting a bit agenda-ish really, someone posted positive stuff about Henderson in the thread with the same name, and your first response is stats about Allen. We get it, you like Lucas and Allen. They've all contributed, some more than others, there's also been times when regardless of who's played, we've missed that something extra, so there's room for improvement from all of them and there's no names set in stone about who's the better option, it's horses for courses. It's great that we have so many options, but there's no point in this constant "yeah but when Lucas/Allen plays they run a mile more than everyone else". Really, what's the point? We've done well with different combinations, the only important stat really is where we are as a result, whatever the lineup, it's clear that they're ALL doing more right than wrong.
bullshit

Which part? You can't wait to jump on anything about Gerrard or Henderson, with a positive slant towards Lucas or Allen, like the assertion that lucas will be "back in the team", based on what? He's a good player who will get used in certain games (in much the same way Allen and Coutinho will), but lets not pretend he's a cut above anyone else, because only a dullard would.

Isn't that what I said? Modo's the one intent on bigging up his favourites at every opportunity, usually as a means to put down the rest, cf the Henderson thread I mentioned.

Whatevers anyway, the point has more or less been proven that we're capable of doing well even without him, or mores the point, without playing an out and out DM in every game. So as many of us have said, he's a good squad option and a great asset in certain games, but he's not the be all and end all.

Talk about starting an argument when there is none.

He said that Hendo "ran more than anyone" so I posted a stat that proved Allen did.
then you seem to miss my third post in that thread where I praised Hendo.

Regarding Lucas, I didnt bring it up.

Also I'm worried about Suarez and Sturridge bein selfish against Cardiff, surely Aspas has to play.

And bring back Aquilani.

I'm not starting an argument you div, it just seems that people can't mention the midfield conundrum (if there even is one now) or the form of Henderson/Gerrard with you posting stats or whatever to prove the contrary. It was the same weeks ago after we played one of the games in which Gerrard didn't do as well, you were there on hand with the heat maps of Alonso, while trying to tell us how brilliant Lucas is, again.

Nothing we didn't know going on here.

Mark generally has no idea what he's talking about and Modo likes Lucas a bit too much.

Rodgers has already said that gerrard will be our DM from now on, so lucas is competing against allen and coutinho for a place in the team as we know that 9 times out of 10 gerrard and hendo will be in the starting 11. So lucas has to adapt to playing further forward, but can he do the role better than allen? Personally i dont think so as allen offers more and is more mobile than lucas. So i can see lucas spending a lot of time on the bench.
Maybe he can rediscover the form and position he played before we bought him.
I don't see it happening though

Genuine question, how often have we sent out the same XI two games in a row this season?

I would imagine it's no more than a handful of times, but I would well be way off? I haven't time to check now, but will do later on if nobody else knows.

A better questions might be 'how often have we sent out the same XI which was also coincidentally our best XI for two games in a row this season?'

Nah. Rafa broke that bit of him, same as he broke the bit of kuyt that could play as a striker.

Well, you never know for sure. For example, until Kenny returned, Kuyt's best production in the league under Benitez was in 08/09 when he contributed 12 goals and 8 assists after playing every single game. In Kenny's caretaker period, Kuyt went on to score 10 goals and get 5 assists in just 18 league games. During that same period, Maxi, who had scored 1 goal in 17 league games under Benitez, scored 7 goals in 11 league games (all of them coming in 3 games at the end of the season). Meireles, who had been scoreless in the half-season under Hodgson, notched 5 goals.

The full season after that was a disaster as we changed course, but this isn't a discussion about Kenny, but rather, what an attack-minded manager could do for players. Of course, it depends on the players' skill sets and mentality as well, but given that Lucas started out as an attacking player, who knows, maybe Rodgers can work another miracle.

By the way, I'm surprised to find that Lucas was credited with 5 assists in the 2007/2008 season, based on Soccernet's stats. Especially when that was his first season in the league. Even greater hope that Rodgers can help him regain his lost dimension. 🙂
