Lucas is our best player this season

Ladies and Gentleman, let me introduce you to the The Rawk Effect.

Holy fuck.

The only logic answer is the opthers are clueless.

Lucas is nowehere near as bad as we'd be led to believe, but he's a limited footballer who is showing some signs of adjusting to this league at last. That's it. No more, no less.

The main drive behind that board is the fact he's easily our most consistent (outfield) player, always having an average game, whilst everyone else is either below average or alternately shit then good.

Wow, just Wow.

I'm sure many will echo this sentiment and a few have done so already.
He is no-where near as bad as some on this site make him out to be, but how he has got that many MOM nominations is a bit nuts.

Take the Wolves home game for example:

1. Lucas.......................................214 votes...................................5 points
2. Benayoun................................178 votes...................................3 points
3. Gerrard.....................................171 votes...................................1 point.

4. Aquilani....................................116 votes...................................Unlucky
5. Insua..........................................97 votes.......................................Zero.

TLW had it as above.
ST had Aquilani 3rd.
YNWA had Gerrard as MOM, with Lucas and then Benayoun.
Est1892 had Insua as MOM, with Lucas then Benayoun.
6CM had Gerrard as MOM, with Aquilani then Insua, ...then Benayoun, ...then Carragher, ...then Torres, ...then Agger, ....

Or Birmingham at home:
1. Johnson..............................655 votes.........................5 points
2. Ngog...................................309 votes.........................3 points
3. Mascherano.........................182 votes..........................1 point.
4. Lucas..................................130 votes..........................Zero.

Glen extends his lead in his debut season.
All sites agreed with the above except 6CM who had Mascher 2nd and Ngog 3rd.
There was not one single vote for Lucas on 6CM in contrast to him finishing a close 4th on each of the other sites.

Rawk don't vote in it, as far as I'm aware.
[/quote]

Wow, you're right.TLW generally know their stuff and their opinion aren't dramatically different to those on here.

-glares at EST and YNWA-

How many forums does Morse post his MOTM threads? Five or Six?
It's fair to say that in previous seasons the winner of the player of the season has been deserved and it has been a good indicator as to who has been playing good and who hasn't. Whilst I do not agree with the standings myself, it is Liverpool fans like us who are voting, so the results have to be respected.

hahaha, that definitely suggests we're overly harsh on him.

Also, I'm fucking positive those sites have wayyyy more match goers than we do, & whilst most match going fans I know dont rate Lucas, they say he's average & very consistent, so 3rd/4th place in MOM standings each game whilst we're playing badly makes sense.

tbf i take notice of him more at the match because everyone around me slates him whenever he loses the ball. Approximately 60% of those times it's not a poorly weighted pass, the other player just waits for the ball to trundle and shows no desire to retain possession, yet it is lucas who gets the blame. I'm not a lucas fanboy but i honestly do not understand the venom poured on to the lad.

It should be Mascherano or Reina by about 17 light years

mascherano has been no where near our best player this season.

True, he has been below par until recent weeks but still wayyyyyyy outperformed Lucas.

The fact is I don't think anyone really is our best player this season. Johnson was the stand out near the start, Mascher, Reina, Kyriakos and Lucas have all had good patches since then. But I'd say it's down to the fact that we've not really had a stand out, that Lucas pulled slightly ahead. But besides that, it was our obvious bias against him that I find interesting.

Agreed. His early season form was dire, but he has been excellent of late. I'm not surprised at Lucas,he has been consistent, if unspectacular. Perhaps peoples' opinions have been swayed by the more vociferous of Lucas' detractors?

Part of it is the number of games he has played, part of it is that he has been fairly consistent , very average, but fairly consistent.
aaaaand as has been said some sites have a strange view on things and are not of the real world.

I'm not sure that this site is exempt from that. It's arrogant to imply otherwise.

oh dear... writing on the wall for Rafa..

wasn't Danny Murphy Rated our Best player in Ged's last season in charge... ?

That shows how much of a shite season we had back then!!... and with Lucas this time around.. kinda show how much a shite season we are having now!!!

On the upside could mean a new manger next season...

as I was saying before I was interrupted, most of the candidates you would expect to head it have either been injured or way off form.

It is just another example of lies damned lies and statistics, interesting although it is.

That defies common sense.

I honestly think he's been one of the worst this season.
Only Kuyt was worse until Christmas I think. At least Deadly got a lot better lately. Unlike Lucas.
His main weakness is his lack of anticipation and vision of the game, the football game in England just goes too fast for him.
He's always late on challenges and thats why he gives so many free kicks away.
Our worst (starting) midfielder in the last decade IMO.
But again I cant blame him, he gives everything and only one clueless manager thought playing him and Mascher together would work.

Our best player this season is Reina...says it all really.

I dont even remember if Lucas has scored a goal for us.

A timely post, which kind of proves my earlier point above. Lucas has been our most accurate passer and has made the most tackles and has the highest success rate of tackles won. So, if he's so bad, what are the others doing?
