Sami Hyypia expects on-loan Liverpool youngster Joao Carlos Teixeira to improve even further with Brighton & Hove Albion after already finding the back of the net twice within a week.

The Portuguese playmaker joined the Seagulls temporarily earlier this month and has wasted no time in making an impression for the Championship outfit.
His maiden start for Hyypia's charges, at Leeds United on Tuesday, brought an early goal for the 21-year-old and that goalscoring form continued this weekend.
Teixeira struck the winner midway through the second half yesterday to secure a 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers - and his manager has been suitably impressed so far.
"He's good on the ball, a good football player, an intelligent player that can score goals," said the former Reds centre-back, who represented the club 464 times.
"I hope he takes the advantage to play for us; normally loan deals work both ways, in that we give him the opportunity to play at this level.
"I think our style of play suits him as well. From our point of view, we can have a very good player on our side. He has a good mentality, is training well and we can push him to improve himself.
"We need quality from the other players so that we can get him on the ball in dangerous areas and he can score goals. I think when we can get him on the ball around the box, he will be dangerous there."

Liverpool's Sweden Under-21 international winger Kristoffer Peterson is set to sign for Dutch Eredivisie club FC Utrecht on a season-long loan. The 19-year-old, who had a spell at Tranmere last season, is much admired by Utrecht coach Robbie Alflen, who toldAlgemeen Dagblad:
"On the wings, he will be most dangerous, he has power and is absolutely a good addition. Of course I want a player like him in my squad".

I've liked Alberto any time I've seen him. He should have a decent year at Malaga. We'll prob break even on the deal if he doesn't come back to our first team squad.

On a side note, he's the second 'slow' player of ours (after Suso) I've seen go to play in Spain and instantly look much quicker.

What's that about? Are players just generally slower over there? Seems impossible. But I noticed it straight away both times...

Generally positive views by Baggies fans about Wisdom's midweek performance as fullback - he set up their only goal. Although concerns about the overall quality of his crossing.

So ilori has gone to Bordeaux right?
And not even been on the bench for the first 3 games. Whats the fucking point?

The game is definitely quicker in England. Teams change possession more often, more teams employ high pressing etc.

That makes sense then. I noticed Bordeaux are top with 3 wins from 3 so I hope he gets in the side otherwise its just a waste and hed be better at Brighton or somewhere like that.

It proved a difficult weekend for Liverpool's contingent of players out on loan with other clubs – find out more with our latest round-up of their fortunes.

There was little joy for Luis Alberto on Friday evening; the Spaniard played for 76 minutes but Malaga lost 3-0 at Valencia in La Liga.
In Italy, Rafael Paez featured for Bologna in Serie B as they suffered a 2-1 defeat by Perugia.
On Saturday, defender Andre Wisdom was on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline in the Barclays Premier League - West Bromwich Albion were beaten at Swansea City.
At Championship level, Joao Carlos Teixeira was involved throughout Brighton & Hove Albion's 2-2 draw against Charlton Athletic.
Brad Smith completed the entire match as Swindon Town drew 1-1 at home to Coventry City in League One.
Later in the day, Iago Aspas was an unused substitute in Sevilla's 2-1 victory over Espanyol.
It was the same for fellow striker Divock Origi - the Belgian remained on the bench, watching Lille draw 1-1 with Monaco.

Oussama Assaidi. The winger joined Stoke for a second consecutive season and came on as an 81st minute substitute in the 1-0 defeat to newly promoted Leicester City. The 26 year old had a chance in the 91st minute but his effort was deflected off Ritchie De Laet for a corner. 13th placed Stoke next face 16th placed QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Sunderland new boy Sebastian Coates wasn’t in the squad for Gus Poyet’s side and could make his debut when Sunderland travel to Turf Moor to play newly promoted Burnley.

Andre Wisdom played the full game for loan side West Bromwich Albion as they lost 2-0 at home to Everton. England Under 21 captain Wisdom picked up a yellow card in the game but did defend well. West From next face Spurs away on Sunday where Alan Irvine’s side will be looking to pick up their first win of the season.

In the Championship, 18 year old Jordon Ibe came on as a 75th minute substitute in Derby’s 1-1 draw with rivals Nottingham Forest. He only created one chance in his brief appearance and will be hoping for more game time when 10th placed Derby travel to 15th placed Cardiff City.

Joao Teixeira started on the wing for Brighton in their 3-2 defeat away at Brentford and played 75 minutes before being replaced by Craig Mackail-Smith. The Portuguese international set up Danny Holla for Brighton’s second goal in the 61st minute and Sami Hyypia’s side next host Blackpool at the Amex.

In League 1, Australian left back Brad Smith played 90 minutes in Swindon’s 2-1 victory away at Bradford City before being substituted in injury time. He will more than likely start in Swindon’s next game with Sheffield United on Saturday.

From League 1 to Ligue 1, and Tiago Ilori played the full 90 minutes for Bordeaux as the early pace setters suffered their first defeat of the season away at Guingamp.

Divock Origi scored Lille’s opener against Nantes before setting up Marcos Lopes for their second to send his former club top of Ligue 1. They next play 6th placed Montpellier on Sunday 21st September in a key game in France.

In La Liga, Luis Alberto was involved in a frantic 55 minutes for Malaga in their 0-0 draw with Levante. The attacking midfielder had 3 shots and set up another chance being replaced by Nordin Amrobat. His side travel to Espanyol on Saturday evening.

Iago Aspas came on as an 83rd minute substitute for Sevilla in their 2-0 win over Getafe. He did set up a chance for Ever Banega but the midfielder couldn’t convert.

In Serie B, youngster Rafa Paez played the full 90 minutes as Bologna beat Pescara 3-2 on Friday night.

[article=http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/400058/Liverpool-loanee-s-BIZARRE-transfer-clause-revealed]BORDEAUX have to play Liverpool loanee Tiago Ilori at least 30 times this season, according to the French club's official radio channel.

Gold FM revealed the shock news that the Spaniard has to appear in the majority of games as part of the loan deal taking him from Anfield to France.

It is thought that Liverpool insisted on the clause in a bid to get the young defender game time during his spell with the Ligue 1 club.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers signed Ilori from Sporting Lisbon for £8m last summer but he failed to make an appearance for the first team.

He was swiftly shipped out on loan to Spanish side Granada and he impressed in his nine appearances.

However, Rodgers decided to loan the 21-year-old out again with his squad well stocked this season in the central defensive area.

Ilori played the full 90 minutes as Bordeaux lost 2-1 to Guingamp on Saturday.[/article]

Haven't seen you for a while, King! And the reporter fails in fact-checking - can't even get Ilori's nationality right. Spaniard indeed.

Ibe goal vs Cardiff over the weekend. Nothing spectacular, just a good sharp finish in the box into the corner. He was getting into the box a fair bit after he came on as a sub. Hasn't started any games yet for Derby I think but might not be far away from a start now.

Liverpool FC's Brad Smith was the star of the show during Swindon's 5-2 demolition of Sheffield United.
Smith provided two assists for Jonathan Obika and Andy Williams and spent the second half terrorising Craig Alcock down the left-hand side. It was a display of a player growing in confidence into his new role as a wing-back, and after the game the 20-year-old said: "To be involved in the goals makes me really happy.

If anyone is involved in the goals everyone’s happy. “I’m used to playing left-back. I played left wing a few times in the England under-21s and made my debut left wing for Liverpool. “It’s good to get up and down and it’s good when there’s not a winger there and you can go forward and Louis (Thompson) is there to help me and put through balls in for me. I’m enjoying it." He added: "Playing week-in-week-out and then going away with Australia and getting two caps has helped with my confidence massively."

On-loan Reds defender Andre Wisdom played his part in West Brom's first win at White Hart Lane since 1984. Toothless Tottenham failed to break down a resilient Baggies back line which included Liverpool's Wisdom as a James Morrison headed goal proved enough to claim all three points and a first win for coach Alan Irvine.

Brighton carved out a 0-0 draw against a visiting Blackpool side as the Reds youngster Joao Carlos Texeira lasted 63 minutes before being replaced by former Anfield great and new manager Sami Hyypia.

Luis Alberto played a key role in Malaga's thrilling 2-2 draw at Espanyol at the Power8 Stadium. The hosts opened the scoring after 15 minutes thanks to Caicedo, however, it was from an Alberto corner that Camacho equalised with his head for Malaga on 52 minutes. Stuani put the home team back in front three minutes before the final whistle, however a Duda free kick in stoppage time saw the spoils shared.

Divock Origi managed just one shot on target during Lille's 0-0 draw with Montpellier before he was substituted on 81 minutes.

Tiago Ilori didn't feature in Bordeaux's 2-1 win over Evian Thonon Gaillard.

Iago Aspas, meanwhile, didn't make the bench for Sevilla's 3-1 victory over Córdoba.

Ibe started for Derby in their 2-0 win over Reading in the League Cup. He didn't score or get an assist, but it seems he impressed the fans enough in his first start for the Rams.

Some comments in a couple of forums:

[article]Ibe 9 MOTM- He was immense. Without exaggeration, he skinned Gunter 4 times in the opening 10 mintues. He's so direct and pacey, it causes havok in opposing defenses. The final ball isn't always perfect, but if it was, he'd be starting for Liverpool right now. He created multiple chances first half, and went very close himself second half as his drilled effort was tipped onto the bar. He really deserves to start on saturday. What a gem this lad is.

Ibe Accelerates like a Ford Sierra Cosworth. Will start Saturday. I feel that this guy will unpick defences willy nilly. Championship full-backs - be very afraid.

Ibe 9 (this lad will go far, he has all the tricks in the book, he's strong, he's quick and has a pretty decent shot on him, the only thing that he needs to improve is his decision making on occasion)

Ibe - 9 MOTM: This kid is going to be incredible, the run he went on before the Og with 3 players surrounding him was mind blowing, he keeps the ball so well, needs to pass more though.[/article]

Not surprisingly, they're expecting him to start their next league game.

What Ibe had to say in an interview with the Rams' official web site:

“The training is really good, we have a young group here and the style of play is similar to Liverpool.

“It’s exciting and I’m just looking forward to playing my part for the team.

“It is important for me to come here and do well and, after coming off the bench a few times, I want to do my best to try and get into the starting line-up.

“Obviously a report will be going back to Liverpool on how I am doing, so playing games and making an impact is a good way of making the feedback positive.

Still think it was a mistake to loan him out. I bet a few more agree with me on that now too.

Yeah, Brendan gets a little too clever sometimes. Needs to think more pragmatically about what is best for Liverpool rather then the "right thing to do".

His loan thread was the one where many of us were devastated. And Ryan came riding in saying it was the only move to make. Does he still think that? We needed Ibe's dynamic play as an option.

It still was the right thing to do. He isn't ready yet, and won't get the minutes here

In almost every game we've played this season you could see where he might have been a useful option.

It's cretinous to say he wouldn't have got minutes.
