Hyypia gets his head on it, scrambled away.

Aghh!!!
We will definitely miss his aerial threat.
Agreed. I'll just miss him, he's an absolute gent and a true legend of our great club.
Well put. At least let's fetch him back as a coach in a couple of years, eh?

2nd place wasn't fully secured.

we are 2nd now and don't need those Stupid fucking Qualifiers at long long last.

Result first, build up the momentum for Sami 2nd, and Sami gets THAT reaction off the Crowd.

Its all perfect.....
Result was meaningless when discussing European footbakll, mate.
It was about a million quid (2nd / 3rd), the golden gloves and prestige, not Europe
Maybe so. He went the European routed, and I responded.

And I don't give a fuck about those things... Sami should have led this team out one last time.

...which tells its own story. It used to be standard in the glory days. Here's hoping they're on the way back.

Anfield is becoming a fortress again!

FULL-TIME RESULTS - Aston Villa 1 Newcastle 0, Hull 0 Man Utd 1, Sunderland 2 Chelsea 3, West Ham 2 Middlesbrough 1, Fulham 0 Everton 2, Arsenal 4 Stoke 1, Blackburn 0 West Brom 0, Liverpool 3 West Ham 1, Man City 1 Bolton 0, Wigan 1 Portsmouth 0.

According to sporting life West Ham played twice today... one win, one loss... not a bad result!

Well, I thought Sami should have started, but to be fair - planned or not - that was probably more emotional and memorable than it would have been if he *had* played from the beginning.

Only that ball going in at the end could have made it more perfect.

Au revoir, Sami.

Lovely to see Sami at the end. But I wouldn't moan about Rafa at all about this. Bob Paisley never staged any final appearances. Kenny never went out of his way to bring on a player, as far as I can recall. The 'Liverpool Way' didn't used to encompass such acts of sentimentality. In fact, right back to Shanks' days, it could be a damned hardhearted place.

Unfortunately Macca, facts don't count for much when discussing Rafa on here sometimes.

You're probably right Macca, as I don't really remember any staged final farewells for former players in the past too. Perhaps players such as Sami would have got a testimonial and it would have been there when he could have been acclaimed and been given a big sending off... I don't know.

Still, I'm absolutely delighted that Sami got a staged farewell... he is one of the few players who truly deserve it. Can't believe that I won't see him in a Liverpool shirt anymore after today.
