Liverpool vs Arsenal match thread

What a fucking bullshit decision! No way was that a red card - it was just a clumsy forward's challenge.

Before that, I was just about to write that we picked a side that looked like it was designed to contain Arsenal, rather than attack them, and that's pretty much how it played out. The full-backs didn't get forward much, the midfielders sat deep, and most of our few attacks came from long balls slammed up to Kuyt and Jovanovic, neither of whom is exactly blessed with silky skills. We played like Bolton, in other words, and the only threat we showed came in those last five minutes when Magic got forward a bit more. I was going to say we should sub Aurelio for Skrtel and play a more expansive game, and then... the fucking ref makes that impossible and condemns us to antoher 45 mins of chasing shadows.

Fuck it! Best we can hope for now is to hang on, and get a counter-attacking goal or something from a corner. Fernando... are you ready?

fuck he'll miss the citeh game..

that wasn't red !

Won't the appeal and the subsequent appeal require the referee's input? I doubt he'll admit he erred there.

I'd bring Babel on. If we're just going to pump the ball up forward, we could do with more pace.

Agreed

Before I'd have took Dirk off but we're going to need his work-rate now.

Torres would surely be the better option? Babel would just get caught offside all the time.

What is all this "two-footed challenge" nonsense? His right leg was trailing and was not what took out the opponent. Rubbish call and Redknapp can fuck off.

If you appeal isn't the ban suspended anyway pending a decision ?

Maybe we will see Nando a bit earlier than planned now ... otherwise we're going to be totally toothless.

Yup... spot on mate. Agger should never play left back unless it's in an emergency but we can't afford to make a switch at the back now. I still think we'll get a result... fuck them.

It's hard to know what to expect from Torres as he's not match fit. Whoever is playing up front is going to have to do a *lot* of running.

Either way, I'd finish the game with them both on the pitch.

It's a stupid and dangerous tackle and you can defend the refs decision here.... whether we like it or not.

And I really don't.

Much agree with Bunnys take on it otherwise. We are sitting far to deep and our attacking play lacks width and numbers.

We managed to beat Everton in similar fashion last year so it's doable.

Bad decision yes but fucking stupid tackle no danger. It was just frustration from not playing that well

Come on. I know he's a Red but there's no defending this silly, rash challenge from Joe.

It's a two-footed lunge on a player who's already out of the pitch, and nowhere near the ball, with the ref about to blow his whistle for half-time. There was no need for that.

If Mourinho was managing Joe, he'd definitely have gotten a stern lashing.

2 footed off the ground = straight red.

We can't complain.

Cole was nowhere to be seen in any case.

Get Babel or Torres or both on.

It was never a red. Anyone who thinks it was is fucking stupid.
[/quote]

I'm with you.

It wasn't a fucking 2 footed challenge. He didn't launch with both feet into the defender. He went for the ball over agressively and caught him. That should be a yellow. Fucking ref cunt.

Still think we'll win though.

a) it wasn't two footed, and his front foot didn't even touch him
b) it wasn't even a tackle! he was trying to block a clearance (albeit i only saw one replay)

That's a striker right there....

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAHHHH
