Liverpool v Huddersfield Match Thread

Neither were great but atleast Sturridge got into the right sort of positions , firmino was a ghost for an hour

Ok ... we'll agree to disagree. Glad both scored as they're normally dogshit when they play together (Klopp should ONLY play them together if it's a 4-4-1-1 with Firmino behind Studge)

Ming - NA - Huddersfield had one shot (a FK - off target) in the game.
Moreno - 6.5
Klavan - 6
Matip - 6 - but should have scored two !
Gomez - 6.5
Henderson - 6
Wijnaldum - 6.5
Milner - 6.5
Can - 5
Firmino - 6
Salah - 7
Sturridge - 6.5 (inc. 1 for the goal)
Solanke - 6
Ox - 7 - clearly should be starting

Sums us up. Pretty damn average, however you could see in the 1H that confidence was totally shot. Hopefully this win, and Maribor on Wednesday, can bolster it as West Ham away could be tough next weekend.

Didn't see the game, but made up we won, mainly because I get to watch match of the day for the first time in about two months.

But yeah, anyone claiming for Klopp out is a div on the wind up, and I wouldn't put that past Modo.

Huddersfield were really poor. They stayed in shape and did nothing else the whole game.

Overall we were average. The first half was one of the worst performance in Anfield i can remember in recent times. Head down, no urgency, no inventiveness, wayward passing etc. There were even a hint of boos at half time.

Second half was much better but if the goal didn't come when it did we would have struggled. Only after the goal did we play more like our usual self.

Strange we played much better against Sevilla, Moscow, Burnley but got the same number points as with this one game.

We lack leaders - players who will will us forward (like a Stevie, Suarez etc).

hopefully Keita is one such player, but we need some players who actually want to win every fucking game attitude wise on the pitch.

Coincidentally the 2 you mentioned are world class players. I actually think we have some players with the heart, but not the skills to bring us to the next level. Example being Salah, Firmino, Mane, Gini (at home) and Coutinho/Can (before their respective transfer sagas). You can see them trying to take responsibility to win in every game, it's just that some of the things they try do not come off frequent enough.

We have come a long way actually, we have got some very good players as listed. It is down to very fine margins now. If a few of our players could take that one step up to become "world class" for even a season or a half, we would have alot more points.

Surprised with all the Klopp hate for Salah missing a penalty.

He scored the crucial penalty to send his nation to the WC under extreme pressure.

Klopp said after that in a presser that Salah is the coolest man under pressure in the world and you wouldn't want anyone else taking one so it stands to reason he was going to be made penalty taker.

Firmino has missed a couple and Milner missed his last one

did you see Salahs penalty for Egypt @Dreamy?

it hardly screamed skill or technique , he just spanks it as hard as he can , tried that today , he didn't have a Scooby where the ball was going

Indeed but the point remains he scored in a highly pressured situation and Klopp had said since he would be on penalties.

Not to mention everyone has said Salah was our only attacking threat with any quality of late.

Christ read this thread and you'd think we were Palace

Milner is fucking ace at penalties and if he is on the pitch then it should always be his. He has THE best conversion rate in the PL even with his last miss.

Good win that. Boring first half and then a very good second half.
3 goals, 3 points and some much needed confidence.

Funny reading through this thread after having seen the game.
"Klopp has lost the plot" and "utter shambles" being the stand out OTT comments.

Hopefully We'll continue this with a win against Maribor.

Yeah, and those points were made about Milner not taking the pen, and if it was me saying them I stand by them

Then you’re an idiot. Then again we already knew this.

He doesn't exactly want him gone, he wants Rafa in. He's just too fucking thick to realise the difference. It's nothing to do with Klopp and everything to do with another of his whacky obsessions.

Yep I want a better manager sue me.

We'll see who's the idiot by the end of the season.

It’s a moot point, you’re gonna find something to stick it to him irrespective of what the team achieves. We could win the CL, PL or/and the FA cup and you’ll still bitch that we got knocked out of the Milk Cup.

I don't know how you can bemoan lack of creativity and then proclaim Benitez as the answer. Perhaps you'd prefer to have 3 defensive midfielders on the pitch and then despite have something like this to look forward to

Agree. He takes them like Vardy, hits it hard and hope for the best. Incidentally, Vardy's miss against us was more or less at the same spot as Salah's.
