He was offside from the original pass though?
Yeah, so if the defender didn't play it on he was offside. The defender did though, so he wasn't offside.

Its one of the few aspects of offside that is still clear cut. Ish.

If a defender plays the ball forwards the offside is moot. Hence why attackers crowd the keeper on goal kicks, if a defender tries to pass back they can legally win the ball & try to score.
 
Frankie getting into good positions & that run was great. Just a shame it was Chamberlain who passed it, Firmino or Salah would have laid it up for him.

I've always assumed that the defenders touch was irrelevant, so that it would go back to the touch before it, the Liverpool player, as it was part of the same "phase of play" or however it's called in the new rules.
