Liverpool v Huddersfield Match Thread

I'm "acting" like he's the only option because I'm done trying out different managers. We know what we get from Rafa and how high his ceiling is. The man KNOWS Liverpool. His family still lives in Liverpool, why shouldn't we give him another chance? Especially with "better" owners.
Regarding the hate, it's because they weren't that good in those positions. I believe Lucas is a better DM than Henderson, I think Coutinho is twice the player Lallana is, and I also thought Gerrard wasn't that good at DM, I wanted him moved further up the pitch.

Your "hate" for managers other than Rafa and for particular players has bugger all to do with how well or how badly they've done, and everything to do with your monomaniac fixations. You've never "tried out different managers" or waited to see how the players in question would actually do - you've merely waited for the first sign of trouble and then jumped straight in waving your obsessions under everybody's nose for the zillionth time.

We shouldn't give him another chance because it will cost us a lot to pay off Klopp, we'll have a two year 'transition' period where Benitez tries to bring in players he wants to play the way he wants to, he'll get frustrated with the owners because they won't spend the same as everyone else, we'll have leak and counter-leak as the owners and benitez slag each other off, Andy Gray will reappear talking about zonal marking again, net spend and Paul Tompkins will rise up to swallow the internet and I'll have to kill everyone in the entire world.

Or in shorthand, it won't make us any better because we still won't be able to compete financially with at least three other clubs.

And 'regarding the hate' we know your opinions. You give them every chance you get. And it's fine to have those opinions, but it is beyond tedious to be reminded, apropos of nothing, of those opinions in EVERY FUCKING THREAD.
Yeah during his first transitional year, Rafa won us the CL and got us to the league cup final.
Also we couldn't compete with Chelsea and Man U back then either but we still won shit. We still became the top team in Europe.

That's what you think, still, when I wanted them gone didn't they get sacked?
Waving my obsessions? It's my opinions, it's a forum. If we all agreed it wouldn't be to much fun no?

Also is this some kind of intervention, leave it be and I'll leave it be.

We did. It was brilliant. But he did those things against the odds. Do you want Ranieri as manager because he won the league with Leicester? Benitez couldn't maintain that success because the owners couldn't invest. So again, it's pointless changing the manager because we don't have the required level of investment. We're not going to get the very top tier of managers because of that. So you'd be changing a flawed manager for another flawed manager who would be dealing with the same set of problems.

Like I said, there's nothing wrong with having your opinion. If you want Benitez back, Lucas at DM, think Lallana is shit, fine. I have no issue with you thinking that. The issue is with you constantly going on about it. Everyone knows what your opinion is on these things. Everyone. Tribes in the amazon who have never seen a computer know your opinion on Adam Lallana. So stop going on about it because it is just annoying everyone whether they agree or not.

I'd say that Rafa is doing a good job as Newcastle Manager having took them straight back into the Premier League and they are doing reasonably well considering his squad is far more Championship standard than Premier league at the moment. I doubt they will be relegated.
Having said that you would have to say that he's slipped from the ranks of Elite managers at the moment and it's unlikely that a top European club would give him a chance after what happened at Real Madrid. We certainly don't rank as an elite club for now and the only way we can attract a top manager is because of our history and the wages we pay.
It will be interesting to see what Klopp's next job will be (whenever he leaves not necessarily anytime soon) and if he fails to deliver at Liverpool whether his reputation will be tarnished because of it.

He was quoted not long after arriving at LFC as saying he wanted this to be his last job in football, though whether things turn out that way obv.remains to be seen.

Well either way he'll certainly have enough cash to retire and if he doesn't want another job in football then I wouldn't be surprised as he wouldn't be the first manager we've broken.

He’d be a brilliant pundit. Better than all of the ones we have on Tv currently.

I don't think it is. I'd imagine it would be something like winning the two trophies at the start of his reign, before his slow slide into madness. It's not that people have an overriding memory that's completely bad, it's just that people thank him for the good times, but when faced with the proposition of taking him on again, they rightly remember the baffling moments and flaws that he had.

As said anyway, why are you acting like Rafa is the only option in World football? And why are you using him as a stick to beat Klopp with? This is more about the potential of Benitez being available, than any real sort of misgivings with Klopp. You're just jumping on the opportunity because we've fucked up in the Summer and Rafa has kept Newcastle's heads above water. It's myopic and typical Modo. Always got to have someone to hate if you've got a personal favourite in a similar role. See Hendo/Lucas, Gerrard/Lucas, Rafa/Klopp, Coutinho/Lallana, etc.

It's a retarded game.

You can throw Carra into the mix too, who Modo also hated.

"almost"
"lucky"
"vagaries of chance"
"could easily have been"
"we lost on penalties"

The wide and varied vocabulary of the consistent loser.

Glad you said it. Froggy with his weekly 'ifs and buts' are more annoying than Modos Rafa love fest.
