I know signing a young striker at this stage won't half paper over the many cracks we've seen in the squad of late, but wouldn't it just be swell to have our very own extremely talented goal-getter in the team for once? One that in a few years time could reach the heights of the phenomenal Harry Kane if we and he were real lucky?

I am once again jabbing on about Kasper Dolberg. I will do this until he's out of reach because everything screams for us to buy this lad. We are talking Eriksen-loud noises in my head too.

And then, he really does have a Kane-esque feel about him..

More or less the same build (same height, however the younger lad is about 4 kilos short). Very decent pace to burn, great upper-body strength and this ability to start runs at the exact right time. Something that's perhaps not hard to learn but very hard to master like Kane do it, and by the looks of it Dolberg too.

Look at the timing on his run for his first in the biggest derby in Holland in the weekend:

The moment he slows down a bit just outside the area, is something you rarely see. As his teammate enters the area with the ball at feet most strikers, I believe, would've increased their pace trying to get as fast as possible into the action. He's got this calmness in him, that makes him punch so well above his weight (when on form).

And then there is his natural born finishing. By Odin's Raven this boy can finish. The calmness, the awareness and the audacity of his in raw combination with a wonderful technique, makes that part of his game masterclass. He might actually be a better finisher than Kane and he's got even better technique, but whether he'll ever be as physical dominant and as dynamic and powerful as Kane, is a completely different question of course.

Watch his 1st from last years Klassieker and his brilliant 2nd from the weekend (last goal of the three in the clip), as he in both occasions chips the outrushing keeper as if he's never done anything else. The finishing skill is golden.

We really should buy this lad in January. I don't know what else to say.. we should just buy him and then play him week in week out and then.. BAM!

Kane is a lofty comparison. Kane is the most reliable goal scorer the premier league has seen for years.

But i'm fully on board the Dolberg train. I think the UEFA cup (or whatever its called now) is the best tournament to scout players in their late teens/ early 20's.
Players performing well in it at a young age typically go on to be good.

When we DO get a young striker with huge potential, such as Rhian Brewster, people strain to dismiss or diminish his promise. 'He's just a kid, he missed the goal a couple of times the other day, blah blah blah'. When we don't get a young striker with huge potential he's recognised as a young striker with huge potential.

This confuses me

I am very much in awe of Kane and his ability to keep on performing week in week out (apart from when in August) like he does. He's probably in the Top 3 of strikers in the world at the moment and he might go on to become the best, as he really doesn't seem to have any weaknesses (apart from the month of August).

To reach his potential for anyone would require a lot of luck, faith and hard work, but at least here I think we have established that the tools and abilities and physical attributes are there. The fact Dolberg in my book are way better than anyone in our squad at what he can makes the 'risk' less risky. There'll be poor games from him of course but with the delivery he can get from the likes of Mane, Salah, Coutinho and maybe even Firmino in a role behind him I don't see why he wouldn't start firing on all cylinders only within a few weeks from arriving. And then we'll just have to see how far he can make it.. the ceiling is high on this one.

I wouldn't disagree. He seems very comfortable on the ball and can lay off the ball pretty well from any angle. He'd fit into the team and link up well.

But the problem is, when Ajax sell Sanchez for 40m. Dolberg's price must be 60m minimum.

I hope not.. 40 would prob be the decent fee.

Davinson has looked great so far hasn't he?

I don't remember Erisken struggling in 'big games' at Ajax like Dolberg has ... but we should invest in him just in case it's Lil' Kane.
Hasn't he signed with Dortmund?

I would take a punt on him. If he stays at Ajax for a couple of more years, we are not going to learn anything more about him.

If he goes to a "better" league and proves himself, he goes outside of out price range. Jan is the ideal window to take a chance on him.

I'd rather see Li'l Tich. He's good with both feet.

Yeah, he looks like a superb talent. I'd be fully behind this.

Also, Brewster has looked brilliant in the u-17 World Cup that's happening here in India. We might have bit of a gem here.

We DO have a gem. If he played for another club there'd be threads saying what a great prospect he is. Because we do have him he's either ignored, doubted or dismissed.

I'm not sure why you're banging on about this. I haven't seen or heard anyone doubt or dismiss him whatsoever. He might be a little overlooked by some, but anyone on here or otherwise I've seen/heard mention him does so with real excitement.

Brewster sounds very promising indeed and I am sure when he's ready for 1st team football or thereabouts we will hear more about him too. He's already within our ranks and we will just have to have faith in the coaching team to keep his progress on track.

I am personally not doubting nor dismissing his talents myself (haven't seen him play like ever so how could I), but on the other hand I am not going to spend too much time on him until the club at least deems him ready to make the grade. I think we are all hoping for a real gem to be unearthed within our own youth ranks soon, Brewster seems like one of the better shouts over the last few years. U17's however are just kids though and they are especially at our level of football (top half Premier League) most likely still a few years from the first team squad, so he's got time ahead of him.

Dolberg is not a player I suggest we buy for say 2020, its a player I think is ready (or at least he'd soon be after arriving) to step in and help take us forward. As such I don't think the two are comparable, if that was the original argue?

One's a starlet with potential who's still a few years probably from his senior debut,, the other is a world class talent that has already proved he can score goals and make an impact at senior level for a full season.

Big game for Brewster against Brazil today in the U-17 tournament. He did awesome getting a hattrick against USA.

I like Dolberg he looks very talented. Why the fuck are all the talented players now going to Dortmund?

Brewster is about four years away from first team football. And anything could happen in the intervening period.

You'd have to be mad to start getting excited about him
