Brewster is about four years away from first team football. And anything could happen in the intervening period.

You'd have to be mad to start getting excited about him
Is he? He'll be 18 in 6 months. Sterling already had a few first team appearances by that age. By 19, he was almost a regular.

Brewster might well be the most exciting attacking player we've had coming through since Sterling.

I watched him against USA, and I'm watching him right now against Brazil. He looks very exciting.

I've never seen Brewster play before this World Cup, but he looks like one of those strikers who's constantly hungry for goals.

His movement is absolutely electric, and he wants to shoot at goal at every opportunity.

That Phil Foden looks a good player as well...pity its for man city. The amount of runnng he has put in this game is impressive

I love this video. He bursts into life whenever he senses a goal opportunity, and most of his goals come off first-time finishes. That's the sign of a natural goalscorer.

Whilst checking exactly how old Brewster is (18 next April) I decided to check Ben Woodburn too and noticed he turned 18 last week. Is it unreasonable to expect him to feature regularly later in the season?

Very unreasonable. No one even knows his best position yet. He's a bit of an enigma.

I see the natural goalscorer bit, but i also saw lots of deflections and dreadful goalkeeping in that video.

He looks a few years off physically. I'd leave him in the Under 23's for a while and hope he develops more pace and strength. I think he'll fall short of expectations if he doesn't develop considerably.

But nobody knows Gomez, Alex-Arn, Can or Karius's best position yet. If yer good enough you're old enough. Rooney made his debut for Everton at 16 and for United at 18, Rashford was 18 years and 3 or 4 months old when he got his break; Giggs was a regular for United at 18 and Deli Alli was a regular for MK Dons at 16.

I know Klopp is never reluctant to give youth a chance and I hope that come springtime Woodburn starts to feature regularly.

Hopefully in Woodburn, Solanke and Brewster we are sorted for attacking talent for many years to come because it's gonna take all our financial reserves to sort out that midfield/defence.

It's great to see Brewster doing well for the U-17s, but let's not pretend that winning the Golden Shoe as top scorer means anything much.

Previous winners include greats like Macauley Christantus, Valmir Berisha, Daniel Allsop, Wilson Aruma, Fode Camara, Ishmael Addo and our very own Florent Sinama-Pongolle.

I'm not sure why you're banging on about this. I haven't seen or heard anyone doubt or dismiss him whatsoever. He might be a little overlooked by some, but anyone on here or otherwise I've seen/heard mention him does so with real excitement.

I'm not 'banging on about it' - amazing how being positive about one of our own players is redescribed as some kind of weird character flaw. I'm making the point that - contrary to your claims - Brewster hasn't been much discussed on here, while players no better, who happen to be elsewhere, are purred over as if they've descended from the heavens. That's the weird thing.

We just need to ensure this kid gets his chance, same as Trent and Gomez have and is not another Sinclair or Yesil.

No need to be disingenuous about it. Of course I wasn't referring to you being positive about Brewster, hence I quoted your original post.

I was referring to you acting as if everyone but you was either ignoring, doubting or dismissing him. That's not the case.

When we DO get a young striker with huge potential, such as Rhian Brewster, people strain to dismiss or diminish his promise. 'He's just a kid, he missed the goal a couple of times the other day, blah blah blah'. When we don't get a young striker with huge potential he's recognised as a young striker with huge potential.

Just on this point, for years, if someone gets a free kick and misses it, or misses two, someone else takes the next one. The stats for the best in the world are like 1 in 5 finding the net. So it's fucking stupid. Persevere with the best guy on the training ground, all match, every match.
