I haven't read any reports or anything but does anyone else know why an attacker that cost £25 million didn't even make it off the bench when we were chasing a goal in a must win game? The manager spent that money on him yet doesn't trust him to even play the last 5 mins when we need a goal.

He is good player even if paid way too much for him....

BR fcuked up the starting 11, so someone was going to miss out out from the bench

I still can't believe Rodgers started that 11 in a must win game off the back of a string of turgid performances. That's not even getting started on not having a single striker on the bench.

Well given we only had one other fit senior striker and he can't score goals, I'm not sure it was that much of a loss.

Playing with 4 centre midfielders at home in a must win game was bonkers

The head scratching moment was when he brought Wankavic on instead..

He almost proved me wrong, as he look beastley until he got sent off..

Lallana has looked good in spells but has often drifted in and out of the game when played.

Coutinho gets more involved, Sterling is needed for his pace... so it's not entirely unsurprising that he's not featured more.

I guess the main argument for his inclusion is Henderson's form particularly when he's playing on the right wing but given the way we've been playing I guess Rodgers is reluctant to be too bold in his selections... as we saw last night.

I can see why he brought Lazar on. He has unique attributes that he can use to hurt a team on his home. i.e. His dribbling ability / running power. Coutinho and Lallana thrive on movement around them. We have zero movement at the moment.

Rodgers made two mistakes here. One was starting Enrique and then wasting a sub to replace him and starting with that midfield four. Lallana should have started. Henderson has no business on the LW.

It's more about having someone with pace and aggression up front. Given we can rely on neither Lambert nor Borini to be prolific, I'd have at least given myself the option of the latter's much increased pace and movement.

Leaving, for me, one of our best players, and goal scoring threats on the bench was bizarre.

I know Lallana has struggled at times since his arrival, but he's one of our better players at the minute. Starting him should be a no-brainer.

He's struggled no more than anyone else, and less than quite a few of his teammates. The way he's been ignored is just one of the things about which Rodgers has a deal of explaining to do.

He hasn't had a long enough run in the team. He shows great glimpses and, goes without saying, should have played the other night. He still looks like he's starting over ever time he plays, that's the Manager's fault. Put him in the team and leave him there.

He's one of the few signings that's done well, and managed correctly, could offer more.

Even though I am not Lallanas biggest fan I find it mind boggling that someone who is a creative player and could get us a goal or set one up doesn't get on the pitch...

truly staggering, maybe Rodgers has been overwhelmed this year by the weight of expectation and this is affecting his judgement

ahh the truth's finally out. So Brodgers didnt play him cos he's had two broken ribs.

goes to show that half of this forum really don't have a clue most of the times. but that's normal, cos that's what fans do - worry, moan and fret.

The fuck is he doing on the bench then?

Modo it's not really rocket science.

There are many sportsmen today, especially the dedicated ones, who are able to play through the pain barrier. Hence, that was also why Adam said he was willing to play this weekend. Perhaps Brendan valued the importance of Adam, desperate enough to put him on the bench in case he was really needed. Ever thought of that ?

In case you ask, having broken ribs would not render you cripple. Best way to find out is to try them yourself.
