Lazy, shit concentration and a poor defender.

Good 'player' he may well be, but I don't think its unreasonable to say he needs to buck up. How many times today did he fail to react quick enough?

He looks a yard slower, both in body and mind.

He was gash at the World Cup, and just seems to have taken that form forward into this year.

Half the lads looked like they had ate a Sunday dinner 15 mins before kick off and were too scared to break into a sweat/sprint in fear of monging all over. Johnson was one of the finest examples.

I think Anita may be on to something with her 'drunk' comments. Perhaps he had a late night on Saturday?

Him being an alcoholic is the only thing that explains the state of his hair

He looks like he's carrying some extra weight this year too. He's becoming a bit of a worry.

Kelly for right back and Magic for right midfield instead of Maxi is the way forward.
[/quote]

That's been the obvious solution to everyone but our managers for ages. Him on the right, Cole on the left with Poulson and Meireless innthe middle against the Mancs is the best team we can field

I didn't even think he was our worst defender today although I'm certain Mark will disagree with me believeing Skrtel came up with yet another very questionable performance!!

He certainly needs to be dropped before Johnson who's IMO one of our lesser problems/challenges right now.

That makes sense on two counts:

1) Johnson's defending isn't good enough at the moment.
2) Maxi was fucking awful again today.

Ha. If it's any comfort, I want Agger at CB ahead of Skrtel too.

Cole, Kuyt, Agger and Meireles will all make us look a better team overall.

I think Cole coming back will be a huge boost. Not just in terms of creativity, but also in terms of the morale of the squad. Just as long as Hodgson doesn't play Lucas and Poulsen together again.

Johnson is NOT the problem.

Wrong team-selection and poor form is.

In Carra, Skrtel, Poulsen and Lucas we played four players in the center of the park whom rarely enter the opponets halfway-line.

Liverpool FC should never field these kind of players and defensive tactics against anyone let alone against only decent Premiership oppositions.

yep, i deffo think, whilst he was clearly pants today, that we are too shit for johnson at the moment. he is brilliant in a team capable of keeping possesion.

I agree with that. I think what he needs is a right bollocking from the manager and I don't know if Hodgson is the kind who's going to give him that.

Also, I'm not too keen on the idea of playing him on the right-wing. I think part of what makes attacking full-backs a danger to the opposition is that they're overlapping and giving the team an extra runner. I tend to think they lose their effectiveness if they're on the wing to start with.

No, he wasn't. He was one of our better players out there, not that that's saying a whole lot.

I thought he was horrible in the first half, but were one of the few that stepped up in the 2nd half.

What he really needs to cut out from his game though, is the indifferent behaviour he has at times. Lack of concentration makes him do some silly mistakes. It cost us a goal against Arsenal, and we lost the ball several times due to it yesterday. If you're not sure what to do, kick it up the field. Don't try the smarty farty tricks of playing the ball of the opposition to win us some throw ins.

He did seem to make quite a few basic errors. You'd expect better of a highly paid professional. He only really looks happy in the oppositions half going forward.

It was noticeable that whenever Birmingham mounted an attack down the left, Johnson was always running back trying to get into position, but by the time he arrived, it was usually too late. If he is expected to concentrate on his raids upfield, the rest of the back line needs to find ways of covering for him.

That sort of thing was always going to happen more after Masher left. The number of such gaps he closed for us was just unreal. >🙁

We have to do something about it though.

Talking about how good he was just makes his departure (and the way some of us view it, present company excepted) all the worse.

I'd hoped Poulsen would have stepped into hs shoes adequately, if not as well.

I hope his sole defender on here ie Kristian is proven right about him eventually, though the signs arent good.
