just got a text saying cole is having a medical at melwood now.
Great news if true..

Re: Cole set to sign

He was in an estate agents an hour ago looking at houses in the wirral

allegedly

Re: Cole set to sign

He's be a definite improvement on Casper and anyone we have at wide midfield.

I'm surprised he would move up north though - I was sure he would just join Spurs.

However, this is definitely a good sign and hopefully one of a few logical and needed signings.

Re: Cole set to sign

I'm waiting til the news is REAL before i hit the roof with my semen

Re: Cole set to sign

Particularly the 'stringent medical' they gave aquilani, as opposed to a standard (I assumed half arsed) one.

Where do you think he'd play for us?
Predominantly at Anfield, but sometimes at other grounds too.

Arf...

Re: Cole set to sign

Just maybe Hodgson will drop Gerrard into central midfield (a sweetener to stay) and play Cole in behind Torres...

-------------------------Masher------------------------

--------------------Gerrard---------------------------

Kuyt-----------------Cole-----------------------Jovanovic

----------------------Torres-----------------------

Sort a left-back out and add more width/extra striker (dependent on Jova) with the money from a Babel sale and we're set for a good season. We'd have Aquilani and Lucas as back-up midfielders and one of the best 11's in the league.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if that were the case. I imagine Cole would like to play that position, and it might really suit him. Kuyt and Jovanovic are a bit agricultural as a wide pairing, though, so it'd still be good to get another quality winger in. Arda or whoever...

It is I should think. My Spurs mate reckons Cole told 'Arry that he more than likely going to Anfield over the weekend. I reckon this could be indicative of Gerrard (he's just spent 4 weeks with Cole) and Torres staying.

In other Spurs related news, he tells me that Rafa has been trying to sign Gareth Bale for 20m odd! But 'Arry will not sell.

i hope it is true, but i've been let down before so i'm waiting for confirmation

and in regards to bale, i heard that today, bit cheeky cheeky

Re: Cole set to sign

Cole has often spoken highly of us in the past. He would obviously add creativity into side. I used to hate him and his sweatbands but i'd be happy to see him here.

Re: Cole set to sign

I wonder if he'll come out with the old saying ' i supported liverpool when i was a kid'

Re: Cole set to sign

He's the first footballer I remember being younger than me. Hence when he made his west ham debut I was officially past it.

Is Jovanovic "agricultural"? Seems reasonably quick and skilful to me.

But I agree that we should get another wide player.

He may need to be farmed out to get some experience of playing in England before he's ready for our first team.

Re: Cole set to sign

You're sowing seeds of doubt in my mind regarding this signing. Still pastures new may cultivate his style of play

He's quick(ish). I'm not sure about the skilful bit though. Only judging on what I saw in the World Cup, of course, but you can usually tell pretty quickly if a player's got a good first touch or not. I knew Babel would be shite just from watching his youtube compilation.

I'm blaming all of you if this signing comes a crop-per.
That would be too arable to contemplate.

Re: Cole set to sign

I'm hoping he'll be able to plough through the defense.

Wait, why's Jovanovic got anything to do with farming again?

Re: Cole set to sign

It would be a coup for us to sign him, I imagine it will be because Arsenal weren't willing to fuck around with their pay structure but ... I'd be pleased.... We still need more, lots more in fact. His injury record is worrying as his low goal scoring record but he is definitely a good player and considering most of us are waiting for good players to leave one arriving out of the blue has to be good news.

Bunny thought he might be a bit agricultural. Maybe it was that talk of Bale earlier that put the idea in his mind.
