Mark, Radio City can be trusted or not?
'ish' mate, I got a text saying about it, that he's held talks with Hodgson and is expected to sign in the next 24 hours, and then someone else mentioned that it had been reported on City. Don't know how reliable or true it is, but thought it was worth passing on.

For the reasons a few have given, like intent and it's effect on Gerrard and Torres, I hope it's true.
Thanks mate, hope it's true.

He is a quality player, and I love to have him in our squad.
With our current situation, if we can sign him, it's a big gift.

Re: Cole set to sign

Mark, what of the Torres rumours and Ambromovich here is SA to sign him?

Re: Cole set to sign

I would love to be proven wrong about Woy, Purslow, Broughton, new owners and 'Countdown To Armageddon' more than anything

But empirical evidence would suggest it is unlikely

What we will have to do is make a judgement call when our first team-sheet is announced and the window closes

Then we can analyse our first 10 games and come to a first-stage conclusion

I would be *delighted* if I had to say I got everything else wrong, but it's not likely

I would imagine its bollocks given that it's 'tapping up' and illegal.

I've not heard anything, I guess they're pretty intent on signing him, but Abramovic could be sounding out a few players, who knows? It seems the link won't go away though.

The main issue I guess is that if one of Torres or Gerrard go, the other is likely to move on too. Hopefully both will give it another season though, alot can change in 12 months.

Re: Cole set to sign

If tapping up is illegal, how come players always move to other clubs when under contract?

Osmosis? Magic?

Re: Cole set to sign

I want to know how much we're paying him a week before I render a judgment.

Actually fuck it.

Here Chelsea, let's trade. We'll give you Yossi Benayoun, and take your cripple who scores less frequently in a similar position, thanks. B-b-b-b-but he's English.

Where do you think he'd play for us?
Predominantly at Anfield, but sometimes at other grounds too.
TA BOOM TISH!!!
Fuck me, you can't even get 'ba-dum tish' right.
lol.

You think Cole is a worse player than Benayoun?
I don't think there's much in it. Neither has great end product. Both are inconsistent. Both on their day are dangerous on the dribble and capable of picking out a defense splitting pass. Both off their day look dangerous right up until they are tackled trying to do too much.

Unfortunately one is injured half the fucking time, which outweighs everything else should it continue. I also tend to think Joe Cole will be on a massive salary, more than Benayoun.

Utd have been doing it and getting away with it for years, Van Nistelrooy being the prime example. Kewell and Ziege are another two that spring to mind that we've tapped up.

Re: Cole set to sign

His salary demands and Abramocunt's desire to change the squad are the reasons Cole was fucked off

I don't doubt that Benayoun being Jewish hurt, either

Farkmaster, you will find that Joe Cole suits us in the short-term because of the signing on fee whereas Young would cost us money we can't afford at this point!

Wouldn't it be great if we got both players though. Our wings would be sorted!

Re: Cole set to sign

Sheik, you're basing your comments on the assumption that Liverpool haven't given the Chavs permission to speak to Torres? I would agree with you if that is true but we could be wrong.

The Benny Onion story to the Chavs broke long before it happened and eventualy it did. So Broughton might be working his magic for the Chavs behind the scenes. Roy's comments about wanting to keep Torres are sensible but he can't do a damn thing about it if he wants to go. I hope that he gets to keep all the cash from player sales and its not just a smokescreen to appease us!

Re: Cole set to sign

If Broughton oversees the transfer of Nando to Chelski, his position as LFC Chairman is untenable

Nobody gives a fuck about Casper going there, but Torres making the same move would cause an *explosion*

in particular, at the base of the RAWK servers

Re: Cole set to sign

Sheik, nobody is that naïve to thing that tapping up doesn't exist. We've done it in the past!

Brendan, I don't doubt that there will be a massive backlash and the only person that can end all uncertainty is Torres himself.

Re: Cole set to sign

It's one of the main reasons that I'm thinking Torres to Chelsea won't happen

That would take a brass neck of fucking *epic* proportions

Hmmmm, we shall see

i imagine a terminator 2: judgement day style explosion.

except with more poorly made protest shirts

Re: Cole set to sign

He is one of the very few truly skilful players that we have been 'realistically' linked with in the last 5 years - and on a free, he could be a fantastic signing.

2 Thumbs up to Roy if he can get him in the bag.

Yeah, we got properly sussed with old Ziege
How fucking dumb do you have to be to offer the EXACT amount of his undisclosed buy out fee. Seriously?
