There's little point in doing the Skrtel v Agger debate when Agger's always injured.

But in any event, we've far bigger problems elsewhere.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. He's featured six time in the league, three or four times in Europe and one time in the League Cup so far this Season.

The major problem has been that apart from one game he's been either 1) played out of position as LB or 2) used from the bench as cover for LB.

The debate isn't pointless at all and for me so far underlines Roy's overall very negative approach.

Oh, this really fucks me off. How is Jamie Carragher 'not a gifted footballer'?

He's a fucking brilliant footballer, and between 2004-2007, easily one of the best defenders in the world

Carragher is our best and most reliable out and out defender.

Eventually when he does retire or leave all those people who have been desperate to get rid of him for years will be delighted for about a week and then, like with Hyypia, will realise what an important player we've lost.
Are you denying that he has had a clear drop in form? At some point in his career, Carra was better than all the other defenders we have at our club, but not on current form.

Comparison with Sami is not suitable here because,
1. Sami never looked/played like he was in the middle of a major dip in form
2. His strengths (ability to deal with balls over the top and ability to read the game), were not something that could decline with age.
Whether it is a reflection on him or on the other defenders we have, Carra is still the best out and out defender we have. The whole team is playing like absolute shite right now but I do not believe that Carra is the only one out of form, yet, predictably, we get he same old people (and I don't include you in that for the record) coming out saying how he is past it.

Comparison with Hyypia is suitable actually. During his last few seasons we got the same arguments on here that we are getting now about Carragher - how Hyypia was past it, how he 'hoofed' all the time (isn't that just the most irritating of irritating criticisms?), how he needed a rest etc etc. Certainly around the time he scored that own goal against Everton he was getting a lot of stick.

Yet, as soon as he had gone the arguments were that we should have kept him. I suspect it will be the same with Carra when he eventually goes.

Ha, no it wouldn't Richey.

The only difference with Carra that i've noticed over the last couple of years, is that he looks like he's on his last legs come the final stages of the season. We've got Skrtel, Agger, Kelly and have recently signed Wilson (i'm not a huge fan of the Greek), so personally i think we've got enough decent CB's (with the potential to improve) to be able to share the workload.

For me, alongside Gerrard, he's the epitome of most of what've been good over the past five years when it comes to Liverpool FC.

Don't think I'll ever understand the sheer fickleness of some fans.

Good post Richey.

I might add that I actually believe Carra's been one of our only decent performers of late. And he's even been played out of position.

If you say so,Kris.

I hope he's recovered soon so he can play at CB and we can see if he's really the next Hansen, because at the moment that's just a figment of some people's imagination.

Still, talking about Agger beats talking about Poulsen. 🙁

Poulsen who?

I dont understand how some people work. Carragher is decent, he use to be GOOD but NOT ANYMORE! he should be coming off the bench and playing the shitter teams. Bring in a new CB like hangeland and sell kyragiakos.

I was wondering when the zlatan would say his piece.

You keep harping on a Skrtel/Agger combination which so far hasnt been very good, which is the problem.

I think I can speak for everyone on here when I say this:

JUST FUCK OFF ZLATAN, YOU MASSIVE ZLATAN.

Tell us more about your interpretation of the "we all dream of a team of carraghers" song:

"So your saying because i have no idea about a carragher song i am not a true liverpool fan? righteo mate
Didnt know that the song meant so much to you, as that is the only thing i said i didnt care about.
Well dip shit, i live in australia so i dont get to go to the games to hear these songs, and i actually couldnt give 2 fucks about the songs, what i care about is what my club does on the pitch"

Carra himself:

"Your obviously taking the piss right? Carragher is not our best defender, he is classified as the "best" because he is a scouse and has been at our club since a young age
Exactly right, mistakes like that from Carra just proove that ive been right all along and that people are backing him more only because he is a scouseAs i have been saying all along, carragher gets beaten too easily these days and it showed with the winning goal!!"

Budgie:

"Hodgson didnt do anything wrong, dont know why people are being harsh on him.

Saying our season is over already.. we have played arsenal, (man city, man utd and birmingham away) which is by far the hardest fixtures.. people need to fucking relax!! season is 38games not 5
We WILL get top 4, have faith in our team and manager
As for Hodgson, atleast he had the balls to go 4-4-2 away from home and try to attack man city. It didnt work, but atleast he tried something different unlike that cunt benitez"

Christian Crapsen:

"so i dont know why people are saying Poulsen is shit already. give him a chance
Except for the fact the Poulsen isnt rubbish and still has a few years of good footballing to offer."

Massive Zlatan:

"How can people say Ibrahimovic is Over-rated?
He is one of the best strikers in the world"

Lucas/ Busquets:

"Busquets is a crock of shit!! he is the lucas of barcelona, i dont want him anywhere near our club

Currently Mascherano doesnt really fit well into the Barca team. Busquets is the better choice.

As for Aquilani, he had a sub appearance last week and he started this week in the 4-2 win. Unfortunetly he hardly set the world on fire i

"Have you ever watched busquets? he is like a rich mans Lucas.""

You're the biggest cunt on this site.

Yes, lets replace a 33 year old with a 30 year old.

And given that we are 2nd bottom, I know that being in OZ you probably think we are 2nd from top and all, who are these "shitter" teams?

To coin a phrase: Massive fucking Zlatan.

To be honest, I'd like a new CB pairing myself

A CB that can head and another one that can run would do nicely, for starters.
