I Can't Believe I'm Gonna Say This....

Yeah it's obviously gonna end in tears but it's a weak championship this year I reckon and England under proper coaching should go far.
An in form striker will count for loads.

Great performance by England against Germany. Made up they won.

All the Liverpool lads, Clyne especially, played really well and what a goal by Vardy.

Yes I know it was only a friendly and no doubt they'll exit the Euros with a whimper but fantastic to come back from 2-0 down with only 30 minutes left.

Believe it Sheik - I too enjoyed it very much, and thought the goals by Vardy, and Kane were very good and both stylish in execution. Glad that they won and very well deserved. Clyne like you said played very well but was at fault for one of the goals, and as for Alli - kind of glad he was not the one that got the winner as it would have pissed me off even more watching him play so well throughout the game. I also think the German team made poor use of Emre, did not really have a great performance stuck out wide.

What is going to piss me off though is the fact that as soon as Rooney is fit (or even not fit) - he will leave out one of the youngsters and take Rooney along who really offers nothing these days. One thing was obvious in that game both the Liverpool players, and Spurs players were doing that pressing thing that has been fed into them by their respective club managers and it was good to see that - we out-did the Germans at their own game.

We all know that Woy will start with his usual faves like Rooney come the tournament and they will disappear without a trace.

Hang on a minute? "They"? I've become @Sheik Yerbouti

Actually Clyne had a pretty awful first half. The second he was much improved.

For one side at least.

The real football rivalry for Germany is with the Dutch.
Nah. That's just the Dutch. I used to deal in the 'grey' casinos over there, before casinos were legalised in the NL, mainly in Amsterdam but also other places around the NL and for a few months in Harderwijk. The pure hate of the Dutch dealers I worked alongside, to any German who came in, was palpable. This was a long time ago of course, maybe for the younger generation it's not the same ... but I doubt it's changed much.

The England–Germany football rivalry is considered to be solely an English phenomenon—in the run-up to any competition match between the two teams, many English newspapers will print articles detailing results of previous encounters, such as those in 1966 and 1990. Football fans in England often consider Germany to be their main sporting rivals and care more about this rivalry than those with other nations, such asArgentina or Scotland. Most German fans consider the Netherlands to be their traditional footballing rivals, and as such, usually the rivalry isn't taken quite as seriously there as it is in England.

Nah. We have seen this before. If Roy has the balls to leave out players like Rooney and Walcott then we can start talking.

He will play them in crunch matches and England will fail spectacularly.

Well, if it's in Wikipedia that's surely the end of the matter.

For real. When I was a trainee accountant spod on a course in the Netherlands for 2 weeks I went to see PSV v Leverkusen in the second leg of a UEFA cup game in Eindhoven. It was genuinely the most terrifying experience of my life - at one point the Dutch fans fired two flares right into the Germans who tried to climb over the fence to get to the Dutch. Needless to say the Dutch policemen took the opportunity to thrash seven shades of shit out of the Germans with their truncheons. It felt like there was one police dog for each fan, the atmosphere was so intimidating. One of my mates got punched and floored on the way out, and as we stood waiting for the bus back the German team bus came out and was pelted by rocks. I couldn't believe it didn't get reported on - if it had been in England would have been front page news.

The game itself was awful too- the first leg was 5-4 to Bayer but the second leg was 0-0. Bobby Robson was coaching PSV at the time and Ronaldo was playing (think he was about 17). I remember Jan Wouters being man of the match.

Second scariest game ever was when Cardiff came to Reading.....

Can at right back again. Weird

Another maddeningly confusing performance from Can. Some good moments and then bizarre lapses in concentration, such as when he was done by Welbeck as he was trying to let the ball run into touch. He'll probably mature quuickly enough but boy he's inconsistent at present.

We've supposedly made an inquiry about Jonas Hector, but he didn't look that great in the game. Mind you, one of those London hacks on Sky said about Clyne, 'He's obviously better going forward than he is as a defender,' which shows how misleading one game can be.

Yeah, it was. Its just strange that Löw continues to play him at right back.
He's been one of the better midfielders in the league these last few months and clearly isnt a right back.
Germany went to shite after they subbed a few players. If he wanted to test Can he should have played him in midfield during the game.
Hector was pretty poor but he's been very good in the Bundesliga.

When I saw the match I thought the Liverpool players had a good game but nearly every paper reported it as a poor performance from all three. Weird.

Every now and then I get close to being interested in England again, but then I see Roy wobbling on about something and the moment passes.
