Gooners vs Mancs

I want an Arsenal win. We can get back the 3 points we lost to them recently when we play them at our place, but we are already 'up' on Utd so we need them to fall further behind to offset any bad result we might get against them. It's all in the numbers fellas, trust me.

Arsenal to win 1-0 with an injury time penalty given when Ozil dives, after the all-out war someone wished for earlier in thread.

I can't quite tell which team is making the other look much better than they are. Both, I suppose.

Observations:

* Manure are playing this like an away game in the Champs League. Looking to counter and defending with 9-10 behind the ball. I'm not sure if this is due to respect of Arsenal, or due to their gaffa.
* Giroud is a solid striker - nothing more, nothing less.
* Have Manure turned the corner after this performance (currently, 1-0 after 80)? I dunno. Something just doesn't seem right in the way they play.
* Arsenal have played this game scared imo - it's so odd. Hopefully this shows the team what they really are and that they'll start slipping. Tough game next week (Soton).
* I'm not sure if we were one of the forums that was raving about Cleverly but he's a decent player, but star? I'd take Henderson over him

Rooney the best player on the pitch by a mile.

I think he's the hardest working player on the pitch who continues to play with a chip on his shoulder. I think Van Persie was on par with him - some good tackles, a lucky goal etc

Moyes said it was one of their best games this season. 5 shots in total and 2 on target. Rooney and RVP are their two best players by a mile and there are so many ordinary average players in that squad.

Fergie made them look like winners, Moyes brings out the A in Average.

Fergie walked the league with the same squad and finished 28 points ahead of us.

They're in pretty good form at the moment but owe most of that to Rooney.
When was the last time a Fergie team had a total of 5 shots in a game at OT..

The league is tight tough, gotta keep getting results.

So tight at the top now.

After one more game we could be anywhere from 1st to 7th.

Without an 8 goal margin, no we couldn't. At the moment, even if we lose, there would need to be a 5 nil win to take us out of the top four, it may seem petty, but at this stage, staying in the top four, regardless of how we do, will be great for confidence. In a fortnight we have City vs Tottenham, Everton vs Liverpool and Arsenal vs Southampton, so we'll see more points dropped around us. It's a huge week for us, being second is great, but we need to start pulling away to have a chance, and it's against Everton, we need to start bringing some big performances against the better teams, because December really isn't going to be easy for us.

If I was a united fan I wouldn't be getting carried away with that result, or that side.

In fact, arsenal at home was the perfect fixture for the way Moyes sets his side up. 2 banks of four, pressing in their own half. To give Moyes credit, he set his midfield 4 higher up the pitch than most sides have done against arsenal. They pressed Arsenals diminutive midfield 40 yards from goal, and kept very little gap in the hole. Most sides have let Cazorla, Ozil, Ramsey and the rest take it right up to the box which is suicide.

Any time any arsenal player had it in Uniteds half, they were pressed. What United manager puts out a midfield 2 of Carrick and Phil Jones? That tells you all you need to know about how he wanted to play the game; the onus on not losing.

From what I can remember United created 2 chances the whole game; Van Persie's goal and Smalling's free header in the second half - both of them from set pieces.

United are Everton with two brilliant strikers.

I don't rate them.

And the Rooney chance.

That's about right though, United are lucky that Rooney is playing fantastically at the moment.
