Back in training and could make the Blackburn game.
I dont mind if he plays in that game but I hope Rodgers continues to play Allen - Henderson in the run in.
We look solid and its working. I hope he doesnt change it around just because its Stevie.

Bring him off the bench as an impact player.

Henderson's carrying an injury - rest him - play Gerrard.

There's a temptation to go with Henderson - Allen for the run in - and I would - unless Gerrard comes back firing on all cylinders for his last 10 games in red - in which case he's better than either.

I hope he's used like Mario/Lambert is for the rest of the season, mostly a bench player to hopefully make an impact if we need one. Maybe start the lesser games when people need a rest. The team is working fine without him.

Poor 'ol Gerrard. What a sorry end to a marvellous career. If only we'd have won the title last year, it would've been a fitting way to end things.

If only he hadn't of slipped....

I actually believe we'll win a title under Rodgers.

I always though Gerrard would do a "Bryan Robson" - however Gerrard clearly doesn't want to be that type of person.

Wonderful player - but possibly the ego is too much.

Christ. More talk of Gerrards ego. He's done more for this club than anyone over the past 15 years and yet for some reason people go on about him as if he's a negative influence. He's been one of the world's best players for a huge amount of time, of course he's got an ego. I've got a massive ego and I am just another ant in the hill. We should be celebrating him. Pisses me off.
when everyone's fit he shouldn't get back into this team now though.

It's not stevies ego stopping him being a bit part player, it's his obsession, competitiveness, passion & desire to win that makes him think he should be on the pitch every available minute.

He doesn't have have the personality to sit on the bench.

I can't knock him for that, that's also what made him our greatest ever player*

*arguably, let's not start that debate again, wait until the summer.

He and Balotelli can use their free time to re-enact the Wile E Coyote and Roadrunner - or maybe Roadwalker - cartoons. Gerrard can be on top of the training complex at Melwood heaving an ACME weight off the roof, and Mario can be slowly walking away just as it falls and misses.

Thank you.

I've not seen any semblance of that alleged ego based on all the candid interviews or documentaries I've watched about Stevie as a person, as a family man and as a captain who is highly respected and adored by many of his fellow teammates, past and present. In fact he comes across as a humble and down-to-earth lad who has never forgotten his roots and background.

An egomaniac is someone like Roy Keane or Joey Barton, who think they are the dogs' bollocks.

It doesn't really matter how big his ego is or isn't. It's that this current side is playing better than when he was in it. Happy for him to be on the bench, happy he's going as Rodgers doesn't need to worry about hurting his feelings. Hope he only gets games as an impact sub.

I think Stevie should start every FA Cup game from now on – this is his cup to win in his last season here and he should be the driving force.

For league games, definitely Hendo-Allen in midfield.

From the Echo. I think Houllier will probably be manager for Gerrard's team. Not idea who will manage Carra's side - maybe Ancelotti?

ANFIELD TO HOST CHARITY GAME

A unique charity football match to benefit the people of Liverpool will take place at Anfield later this month, which will include two All-Star line-ups of some of Europe's elite players.

The event, which has been organised by Liverpool FC's official charity, the Liverpool FC Foundation, will bring together two teams that will be selected by Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher as some of the most influential players they have played with or against.

Gerrard will take on the role of captain for one team, while Carragher will take on the same role for the other All-Star side. Managers and the final line-up of each All-Star team will be announced in the coming weeks.

Player recruitment is well underway, and players confirmed include Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina, Dirk Kuyt, Xabi Alonso, Thierry Henry, John Terry and Didier Drogba, to name a few.

Current Reds first-team players who are not on international duty will also play some part, as well as some of the Academy's brightest stars, plus the club's backroom staff will also be on hand to offer support.

Gerrard will leave Liverpool at the end of the season and this special match will give fans the opportunity to see him alongside some of their favourites - all to raise funds for the local community.

Tickets for this exciting event, which will take place on Sunday March 29, 2015, will be priced at £20 for adults, £5 for juniors* and £15 for over 65s. Disabled concessionary prices will also apply.

Proceeds raised will help to fund the Liverpool FC Foundation's community programmes, which benefit thousands of young people and adults throughout the city of Liverpool.

Funds will also support Alder Hey's new Hospital in the Park, as well as providing support packages to Claire House, Positive Futures, Centre 56 and Cash for Kids.

Tickets will initially be available to season ticket holders and LFC members from 1pm on Thursday March 5, with a general sale to follow at 8.15am on Wednesday March 11.
