He does have a huge ego and he is welcome to have it, it's part of his job and he has earned the right to it. One of the toughest MOFU's in football can't run through cunts or cut them two with a tackle like Stevie can if he jogs onto the pitch feeling like a sheep. The problem is when the he boils over on others in the wrong when he makes the boo-boo. Last season he bollocked Flanno for leaving a gap which cost a goal when Flanno actually rightly followed the attacking winger and Stevie(as Dm) didn't close the gap. That illustrated that he is sadly past it and there has obviously been a few other situations. He has to go in to work everyday and bust his nuts in training and it falls to the manager to decide who is best to start, if he fails in that or chickens out then he fails in his job. I want Rodgers to stick to his task long term but I also lay the blame at his feet for playing someone who is not the strongest choice on the day.

It's not just that Gerrard must know how hated Terry is with Liverpool fans. He also, surely, remembers how Terry undermined him when he took over as England captain. A truly stupid decision to include him in such a game.

@mom if you turned your screen upside down, you'd be wow@.
Then if you put a t in front of that you'd be a twow@

No offence like, just a lil something I noticed

If we get to the FA Cup Final, does Rodgers start him??
If the final was tomorrow then no.
However there is a lot of football to be played before then and 12 games can be an eternity in football. 5 games ago Joe Allen was low on most people list of starters, Coutinho didn't score enough and Lovren was a complete waste of space.

If Gerrard is fully fit, playing well, contributing and available he will start the final if we get there, but right now it would be a sentimental decision not a football one.

No, but he should come on in the 88th Minute to massive applause all round like Hyppia. He'll then hit the post from a penalty and nearing FT attempt to pass the ball back to Mignolet and...........................

It would be terribly unfair on someone like Allen if having finally hit form and earned a steady place in a winning side, he was dropped from the cup final for the sake of sentiment.

But Allen has years ahead of him, while a legend he will never be able to emulate has put in 15 years of great service to the club (not to mention his remarkable goal when we last won the FA Cup), and he's off end of season.
Gerrard deserves it.

It depends who we're playing. Arse or Mancs - no. Anyone else - yes.

part of the issue people have with Stevie at present is that his body can't do what his mind wants it to do/ thinks it can still do.

However, in big games he still gets himself all revved up and you see him really putting himself about. If we got to the FA Cup Final you can bet your bottom dollar he would be everywhere on the pitch. It would hurt to see him on the bench for his final ever game. Yes it is partly sentimental but I have no doubt that he'd bury himself in ensuring we win the game.

Don't worry about Allen being in the starting line up if we get the final, he will be injured before then...

I've always felt he was just body, not enough mind.

"There is no-one in the squad who has a God-given right to walk straight into the team," said Rodgers.

"I have shown in my time here that players who are performing well, irrespective of price or status, they play - simple as that. "Steven is very much a team man and if he was on the bench because the team was in good form and playing well, I think everyone respects that."

The absence of Gerrard - who is leaving Anfield at the end of the season to join Los Angeles Galaxy - has coincided with the team's best run of form all season, with Rodgers's men unbeaten in the league since the turn of the year. In the season overall, Liverpool have won all six league matches in which Gerrard, 34, has not featured, scoring an average of 2.3 goals a game as opposed to 1.3 with him in the team.

Translation:

He's fucking off now, we're definitely playing better without him, so I can afford to drop him.

I'd still expect him to get into the side for the fa cup games when fit, & he isn't gonna be on the bench more than the pitch when he's fit either.

"I have shown in my time here that players who are performing well, irrespective of price or status, they play - simple as that. "

Well, he hasn't. Not entirely. He clearly adores himself, which is why I feel no compunction in leaving him to it.
