Thinks he owns the place

If he gets booked in any of the next 4 games he's out for 2 games.
Not exactly ideal. I reckon he'll get it against Spurs and then miss West Ham and City.
Good thing Lucas is back from injury.

Wow ... This is why a healthy Lucas is key to the run in ... We will still be a very hard outfit to beat without Gerrard.

Lucas can replace the covering Stevie's been doing but he's not on the same planet creatively. We'll have to rethink in a pretty big way if Stevie's out.

We'll see us playing a slighter flatter system in the middle, Allen Henderson & Lucas, with a bit less pushing forwards.

We've still got enough to beat teams, esp at Anfield.

Bang on. I think just because he doesn't maraud around the oppositions box like he used to, he's undervalued by many.
The closer we get , the stronger the pressure gets and we'll need his creativity, passion and cool headed leadership.

We'll just have to play magnificently like we did against Spurs.

Yup, this. We'll not have SG's quarterback capabilities, but Lucas is more than able to provide a platform for the front 5 to work off. The Spurs match was easily our best away performance. Very happy with our options.

Has he ever had a yellow card suspension like this? Or any of our players of late? Speaks to our discipline as a team

He was lucky not to get sent off yesterday. Maybe he should have booted the ball away and took an extra yellow at the end and got it out the way. Don't like the idea of him missing the city or chelsea games.

Schmiechel on BBC1 just now claimed Gerrard 'hasn't got any pace'. Even now Gerrard is faster than many other midfielders. What a whopper that red-nosed poltroon is!

I'm afraid I switched that straight off when I saw not only Schmeichel but that shallow, motormouthed wide boy Jason Roberts on the panel. Don't know who the third guy is, but he looks a bit like the inbred banjo-player in "Deliverance". Chapman with what sounds like his permanently blocked nose doesn't help either.

I still think Gerrard is reasonably quick. Sure, he's lost pace, but he's still quicker than a lot of players.

Gerrard used to outpace the likes of Torres in training, he was regularly the fastest in the squad, the idea that he's now got 'no pace' just shows what a biased buffoon Schmiechel is.

I know it was a few years ago but that pen he won in the 4-1 Old Trafford win when he made a full pelt Evra look like a well worn milk float... I mean he could lose tons of pace and still be more mobile than the majority in the league.

he may not be as fast over the first 5 yards as he once was but once he gets going he's still got decent pace.

I'm guessing some people are basing this on the fact he's been conceding frees/pens and picking up yellow cards when sliding in on players who have got in behind him . There might be something in that although it's probably more to do with bad positioning .

It's funny , before the game i was thinking how well gerrard had been doing in this deeper position and how the criticism had gone quiet . But he was average yesterday and made a few mistakes you wouldn't expect a specialist in that position to make. But maybe we just have to accept that's the way it will be and hope the positive of him in there outweigh the negative .

Or perhaps it was due to the fact the team, as a whole, looked dosed up on enough sedatives to knock out a bull. The players in front of him were making Cardiff look like Kaka in Istanbul for that first half.

Stevie was average but he had an awful lot to do in the first half hour.

Schmeichel also said only Beckham and Rooney have scored from the halfway line so it shows his glasses are definitely tinted Manchester red. I can honestly say without bias he's one of the worst pundits on TV he's a mumbling boring clueless airbag. Any time he opens his mouth it's just meandering pointless drivel.

I think if Stevies out then you're looking at both Lucas and Coutinho replacing him collectively.
