Gerrard won't play again

Heard of it before, it's usually diabetes related I believe.

Be such a shame if Stevies career ends like this.

Cheers for the info, sounds like a relatively reliable source. That said I've had info first hand from a footballer before that's turned up to be total BS so theres hope. Especially in this city, where there's more rumours than pubs open on a Sunday evening.

Strange that Gerrards mate has said he aims to play on the 30th if this is true.
Not really. If he's prepared to risk his ankle to stretch his career out then there's no way the club will deny him that, it's in our favour cos we're better with him (fuck your stats, this sounds like he can play but IF he gets a dodgy tackle in that area it could then definitely end his career, therefore he can choose to play on & risk the ankle or retire now.

I can understand his decision if true, I think he'll wanna end his career with a trophy win of some sorts in that season.

If he has got something like this I'd rather he retired and looked after himself than risking his long term health.

Fingers crossed it isn't true. If it was that serious, I'd hope the club would see sense too and tell him to retire as well. Football aside, if he would quite possibly need a replacement ankle, then his health comes first.

Maybe mate, maybe. But I just cant see the club doctors allowing him on the field if true.

If it was THAT serious, he wouldn't be training and the Media would be all over it, this is a load of bunkum (I hope).....

I agree. I hope it's not true, wouldn't like to see anyone diagnosed with something like that.

Nice.

Gerrard wouldn't be training if he was finished. End of story for me.

On a side note, I hope he'll be fit and Suarez not suspended for the Newcastle game. First time I'm going back to Liverpool in 4 or 5 years and I'm going to that game. Our two best players out won't make me pleased...

Bullshit.

I was diagnosed with osteomyelitis in my right hip when I was seven years old. I was hospitalized in traction for three weeks and had strong antibiotics but went on to be a fucking sports hero afterwards for my school and university.

It is not the end of his career.

/thread.

LIVERPOOL have been boosted by Steven Gerrard’s welcome return to light training following his injury nightmare.

Gerrard has been worrying over his health after being diagnosed with an ankle infection six weeks ago.

But now the Liverpool star has been put through his paces to give boss Kenny Dalglish a major boost.

The club won’t put a date on Gerro’s comeback but it looks likely that he could be involved over the hectic Christmas period.

Dalglish said: “We’ve been delighted with Steven’s progress.

“We have never put a time frame on when he will be back playing and we won’t now.”

And there was further good news for Dalglish with reports that Brazil star Lucas has come through an operation on serious knee damage.

The Brazilian is ready to start the slow build-up to his return next year.

Gerro?? Gerro? Who the fuck has ever called him Gerro?

Well this is going to be interesting to see what the outcome is

I'd be effing delighted if it's all bullshit. After thinking he was done for it would be like a 50m quid signing*

*well, not if every 50m quid signing is a wankbag like Torres, but you know what I mean.

I'll tell you one thing, if he plays again I will make sure to enjoy every second of watching him play going forward in case its the last time
🙁

Ace post. Best use of a Friends quote ever.

Kenny Dalglish today revealed that Steven Gerrard has stepped up his rehabilitation - but refused to give a timescale on when the skipper will return to action.

The midfielder has made great strides in his recovery from an ankle infection and was back in light training at the end of last week.

However, the boss remains cautious over when the No.8 will be available for selection.

Dalglish told reporters at Melwood: "We are looking alright I think. We only trained on Tuesday, but there's nothing there that will cause us a problem for Sunday."

He continued: "Steven is progressing and training really well. Everybody is delighted with his progress, so that is positive as well.

. When he's ready he'll be ready. It's fantastic for him that he's progressing as well as he is and great for us as well."
"We'll wait and see (if he's available). We won't set any targets for Sunday that we won't reach
Dalglish was also quizzed about the FA case relating to Luis Suarez.

He said: "We can't do or say anything that will be prejudicial in any way, shape or form.

"With regards to Luis, we'll say what we have said before. We'll stand right beside him and help him as much as we possibly can. After it's finished there will be a chance for a conversation."

OK peeps, I promise that whatever I hear in the alehouse this weekend I will disregard.

I should have known from the last 'inside info' I got from the head steward. That was utter bullshit too.
