"It's a bit strange. It's been an emotional 24 hours for myself and family. There's still 6 months and I have plenty to try and achieve. Plenty of time for tears at the end of the season."

"The reality is I'm going to 35 in the summer. I've been coming to this training ground since eight years of age. It was always going to end one day and I think in the summer it will be the right time."

"Key conversation or moment was with the manager when he said it was time to manage my games. I am bright enough to realise that's the right thing for everyone but when you've been a mainstay for such a long time it was a very difficult thing to have with the manager. That was the key thing."

"I wish I met Brendan when I was 25, I think if I had I would be sitting here talking about a lot of titles we had won together."

To tell the girls that their dad wasn't gonig to play for Liverpool anymore was tough."

"The key for me now is to try to achieve something. The manager has no problems with me downing tools. It's been a difficlut six months for the fans. I want to win a trophy and get in the top four."

"I think they were a bit shocked. I wanted to do the announcement after the Leicester game because I didn't want to affect the game. It was nice to see what they thought of me, it was touching - but we have work to do."

"The messages of support I've had from the fans, staff and media has blew me away. I need to be strong because I'm not going yet and this six months is very important for myself and the team."

Stevie doesn't want to listen to tributes, he's clearly emotional here. He says that "It would probably break me" to hear them. He then praises the fans and says they are the best.

"I think it's very flattering to be named in some of the company I've been named in. It's brilliant for me and for my family. It's brilliant. Especially for my dad."

"It's been a fantastic relationship, so strong. I'm one of the luckiest people in the world."

On coming back: "It's more in hope. Only if I feel I can help. I think when you've been part of the club so long, I wouldn't like to ocme back just to be around. I'd like to help in whatever capacity that be. If I can help the team or help young kids of course I'll consider it."

"I didn't want it to drag through January. Brendan facing questions. I didn't think that's fair. I told the manager as early as I could. I wanted it to come out after the Leicester game."

"It will be America. I'm not over the line but I am close. I'll tell the fans when I am."

"It will be tough, the last couple of weeks. I'm really proud of what I'm done and hopefully I can write a few more chapters. It will be torture the last 24 hours."

I started reading that and thought it was about you Jon..

At least he's been professional about it all.
