Not seeing it, not seeing it at all. Fine looking young man but on the pitch he's yet to really impress me. Slow, ponderous, loses a lot of tackles, not switched on defensively.

Overhyped by a large majority of the Liverpool fanbase.

Yeh, unfortunately have to agree.

I saw glimpses of his play that I quite liked at the early stages when he first burst on the scene, but the more central he has played he's looked a little out his depth.

Indecisive in his decision making, and like you say slow and ponderous are definitely apparent in all the games he's played that area of the pitch.

I think he doesn't know what his role on the pitch is. And neither does Brendan Rodgers, I'm afraid.

I thought he looked decent today. Him, firmino and Clyne wanted some issues down their left side

Then we subbed him and looked shit

I don't think he has been handled too well either. We can't expect young players to play in so many different positions and develop properly in any one of them. It will work with outstanding talents and fail with most others.

Hes certainly got plenty of the right attributes to be a quality midfielder, but he needs a settled position in the side and a consistent run of games if thats ever going to happen. At the moment hes being shunted around on a game by game basis and he really doesnt seem to know whats going on

He lost his man in midfield and he just gave up running. In the first half.

Our defender got to the ball and kicked it away but it went straight to their player because this big fanny was taking a breather.

Yesterday was hardly the day to judge him, we conceded after three minutes and then faced an entire team parked right on the edge of where he was supposed to operate. West ham were than helped by a ref who was quite happy to be centre of attention.

He's a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma, surrounded by a layer of fat. There's real talent there, but at the moment he's alarmingly clumsy, he has the concentration of a cat and he's gasping for breath after about half an hour. He needs to be given a new fitness regime, train longer and harder at Melwood and generally pull his damned finger out.

Yep - that's very accurate. It's a struggle to understand him as a footballer because his strengths and limitations are confusing for a player of his age. He plays like a 34 year old, approaching the end of his career, who has won plenty of trophies and is going through the motions of being a footballer. I was optimistic he would be able to slot neatly into our midfield this season, but I think we're back at the stage where he needs to impress both in training and off the bench to be considered for selection.

And be given one position to concentrate on. Not in defence.

I think he is suffering from the same problem over half our team is, they're very young and we have few leaders. It's great we have brought in so much young talent but some experienced leaders would really help.

He is young and versatile so he will be deployed in numerous positions until he can cement one of his own. He is currently a jack of all trades master of none.

At his tender age of 21 he has already found himself plugging gaps for both club or country. At Bayer he played left back and midfield. For Liverpool he has played CM, RB, and RCB. For Germany U-21 he has played CB and midfield and he recently earned a senior cap playing at RB. We aren't the only ones who are benefiting from his versatility. I hope he matures into a fine midfielder and he has plenty of time on his hands. He is currently our 12th man, he'll get a good few starts for us this season or act as our first sub.

I do like the Canwagon but I'm not sure where he fits in long term just yet. I see him as midfielder but I'm not sure how best to utilize him. Injuries or loss of form to others might give him an opportunity to cement a place. We'll just have to wait and see.

I like Can. He's got a great foundation to build from.

I think he'd quickly develop in an established team. We're trying to develop a group of about 5 or 6 players all at the same time and most of the senior players around them are new and / or not quite up to scratch. Not easy.

On an unrelated note, has anyone noticed that Can loves the step over and move it onto his left to shoot move?

He's always at it.

Can's problem is he needs to lose weight and put on more lean muscles.

At times you can tell he has the quick of mind to attempt some out-of-this-world move but because of his weight, it's like turning a flippin tank.

Get him on the right fitness plan and he'll be alright.
