Confirmed transfers 2012/13

Toni Silva - Barnsley (free transfer)

toni-silva-4x376-263771_478x359.jpg

Keith Hill landed a real coup with Liverpool’s young Portuguese winger Toni Silva signing for the Reds on a two-year deal earlier this week. The 18-year-old gave his thoughts to Barnsley Player after becoming Keith Hill’s fifth signing of the summer.

“I feel great,” said Silva. “It’s a good chance to play in the Championship. Basically I’m happy because the Manager trusts me. I need to try my best, work hard and see what can happen.

“I’m a winger and I will try to do my best, I like to play with the ball and I will play to help the team and help myself.

“Everyone likes to score and wants to win. I’m going to do my best. It doesn’t matter if I score, as long as I play well and the team play well and we win. I will try to do the best for the team and myself.

“I think this is a good club and it’s where I can show my quality, try my best here and listen to the coach.

“I think it’s a good idea to get players from reserves for Championship teams and League One, I’m not going to say at Liverpool every young player to do what I’ve done, everyone has an idea, this is my idea - the best way to start fresh and see what can happen.”

There have already been comparisons drawn with the last Portuguese winger’s impact for the Reds, Ricardo Vaz Te, as Silva added, “I know about Vaz Te. I never met him but I heard about him. Some people told me about him and I’ve seen him play - he’s a very good player. I know he did great here so I hope I do the right thing like he was doing.”

Steven Pienaar - Everton (£4.5m)

Everton have secured the permanent return of Steven Pienaar to Goodison Park.

David Moyes declared earlier this summer that his priority was to bring the midfielder back to Everton on a long term basis and a deal has now been struck.

The South African star has put pen to paper on a four-year contract after Everton agreed a £4.5m fee with Tottenham.

He told evertontv: "I am happy to be here. It took a few weeks to sort out but I am delighted to be back and excited to play for Everton.

"There was no doubt in my mind that I would be back here. At the end of the season I told the manager how I felt and I am happy now it is all done."

Pienaar, 30, spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton, with his sparkling performances instantly catching the eye as he scored four goals in 14 games.

He had originally joined Everton in July 2007 on loan from Borussia Dortmund before that deal was made permanent a year later.

He left Goodison Park for Spurs in January 2011 but returned to Merseyside 12 months on, with opportunities at White Hart Lane limited.

Back in May he gave an emotional interview declaring his wish to remain with Everton and that has now become reality.

Pienaar will once again wear the number 22 jersey.

Borja Valero - Fiorentina (€7m)

Villarreal have announced that they have sold midfielder Borja Valero to Fiorentina.

A statement on the club's website read:

"Villarreal and Fiorentina have come to an agreement over the transfer of Borja Valero, subject to the player passing a medical. The Madrid born player will travel to Tuscany shortly to complete the move."

The fee is believed to be around 7 million euros and Valero is expected to sign a three-year contract.

Valero came through the ranks at Real Madrid but was sold to Mallorca in 2007, where he spent a year before moving to West Bromwich Albion in the Premiership for a then club record of 4.75 million pounds. He was relegated with 'The Baggies' after one season and returned to Mallorca for another season, before signing for Villarreal in 2010. He helped the Castellón club qualify for the Champions League in his first season but then experienced the second relegation of his career the following year, when 'The Yellow Submarines' went down on the last day of the season after losing 1-0 at home to Atlético Madrid and other results went against them.

Just lowered the chance of them signing Aquilani then.

They've sold and released several midfielders though. Hopefully Montella will sign him

Andriy Voronin - Fortuna Dusseldorf (loan)

FB_Voronin2.JPG

Fortuna Düsseldorf have tied up deal to sign veteran Ukrainian striker Andriy Voronin. The 33-year-old, embarking on his third spell in the Bundesliga, joins the newly-promoted outfit on a year-long loan deal from Russian side Dynamo Moscow.

Bundesliga fans will be more than familiar with Voronin. Fortuna will be his sixth club in the German top flight after spells at Borussia Mönchengladbach, 1. FSV Mainz 05, 1. FC Köln, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Hertha BSC Berlin over an eleven-year period. His most successful stints were at Mainz, where he scored 30 goals between 2000 and 2003, and Leverkusen, where another three-year stay yielded 37 goals in 119 appearances.

After leaving the Werkself in 2007, the Ukrainian international signed for English Premier League side Liverpool but soon found first-team opportunities limited and spent the 2008/09 season on loan at Hertha, scoring another eleven times and helping the club to UEFA Cup qualification. He joined Dynamo Moscow in 2010 and notched 17 goals in 70 matches.

Voronin revealed that the presence of Norbert Meier as head coach at Düsseldorf was a big factor in his decision to come to the ESPRIT Arena. "Norbert Meier was the manager who promoted me from the youth team and handed me my Bundesliga debut, so that did help sway my decision", said the striker, referring to his time under Meier at Borussia Mönchengladbach. "Now I'm just looking forward to playing in this league again."

Fortuna's sporting director Wolf Werner said of the deal: "We are pleased to have signed a striker like Andriy, someone who has enjoyed a lot of success in the game and his career already. He is a player of quality and we have no doubt that he will show his abilities as a top goalscorer for us as well."

Voronin, who has eight goals in 74 games for his country and played at UEFA EURO 2012, has been given the squad No30. He will train with his new team-mates for the first time on Wednesday.

James Collins - West Ham (£2.5 million)

West Ham United are delighted to announce the return to the club of Wales defender James Collins.

Collins has signed a four-year contract after re-joining the Hammers from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee, three years after leaving the Boleyn Ground for Villa Park.

Capped 39 times by his country, the popular centre-back was part of the West Ham side that completed a great escape from Premier League relegation in 2007, impressing the Boleyn Ground faithful with his power and commitment.

Collins, who will challenge Hammer of the Year runner-up James Tomkins and New Zealand international Winston Reid for a place in Sam Allardyce's starting XI, said he was happy to be back in east London.

"It's great to be back," 'Ginge' told West Ham TV. "Obviously having been here before and coming back and seeing some of the same old faces is great.

"As soon as I knew the interest was there from West Ham I couldn't wait to get down and sign. I had a great affinity with the club and the fans when I was here the first time and I enjoyed my time here so much last time that it wasn't a hard decision to make, to be honest.

"I think everyone knew that I didn't really want to leave when I did [in 2009] because I was enjoying my time here so much. I've come back and I'm a much better player this time around so I can't wait to get cracking and show the fans that I am a better player and can put in the performances on the pitch.

"I've got so many good memories - getting into the FA Cup final in my first season and finishing so high [ninth] in the league and then the way we escaped relegation that year was one of my fondest memories in football. Hopefully I won't have too many more memories like that!

"I just cannot wait to get back and show the fans what a better player I am now."

Ron Vlaar - Aston Villa (£3.2m)

Ron Vlaar is determined to follow in the footsteps of Villa's great centre-halves of yesteryear after completing his transfer from Eredivisie runners-up Feyenoord.

The 27-year-old Dutch international has completed the formalities of a three-year deal which will take him up to the end of the 2014-15 season.

He is the club's fourth new signing of this transfer window following the arrivals of Matt Lowton from Sheffield United, Vlaar's former Feyenoord team-mate Karim El Ahmadi and fellow Eredivisie veteran Brett Holman from AZ.

The club have also re-signed goalkeepr Brad Guzan to a new three-year deal this summer.

Vlaar was an ever-present for Feyenoord last season and he captained the side as they clinched Champions League football with their highest finish in more than a decade.

Having become a cult figure at the Dutch club, he intends to cultivate a similarly strong relationship with Villa fans and will be unveiled officially on Friday afternoon at Villa Park where he is looking forward to meeting supporters.

"I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of players such as Paul McGrath, Olof Mellberg and Martin Laursen, of course - all of them great players for this club," Vlaar declared.

"But I also do things for myself because I want to get the very best out of myself. I can't do it alone, I also need the other players in the team as well as the fans, who are so important. By us all working hard for one another, we can achieve our goals.

"We must work together to make things better and to get good results. We have to do it on the pitch and, with the support of the fans, we can get it going together.

"Over time I hope my relationship with the fans at Villa becomes the same as it was at Feyenoord. I was at Feyenoord for seven years and the fans were good for me. It would be great to experience the same here and I will strive to achieve this."

Paul Lambert is convinced that Vlaar's class and pedigree will make the Dutchman an instant hit in the Premier League.

"Ron is a really good defender and he has a wealth of experience for both Holland and a big football club in Feyenoord, so I'm delighted we have got him here to Villa," the manager said.

"I like the way the guy wants to do well. He's hungry and he wants to succeed. He's also a really good, strong defender and hopefully we will get the benefit of him in our team.

"Certainly, I have no worries about his career so far. He's captained Feyenoord, who finished second last season in the Dutch Eredivisie to qualify for the Champions League, and he's been in the Dutch international set-up and was part of the Euros, so he's a proper player.

"He'll bring something to the club, no doubt about it."

Vlaar has been capped nine times for Holland [scoring one international goal] and he aims to build on this total, firmly convinced that his best years will be at Villa Park.

"I am very happy to be here and I am really excited about getting started," he added.

"This is a dream come true for me. With my past, I am very proud but I always look forward and this is a great opportunity. I am very happy that Villa have given me this chance.

"For me, I want to play a lot and improve my play and do well with the team. That's most important.

"I am 27 years old and I know my best years are ahead of me. I feel fit and strong and I am looking forward very much to playing my first game.

"I have had good conversations with the club and with the manager. I am looking forward to training under him and seeing what we can do together.

"I know some of Villa's history and I have been in the stadium already and saw all of the pictures of great achievements - it's great. I really believe we can bring the happiness back. The stadium is fantastic. I've only seen it so far when there were only a few people around, so I know it will be terrific when it is full of Villa supporters.

"I am looking forward to starting training with the squad and then playing, of course. I think there is a lot of quality here and, if we play like we can as a team, we will make it difficult for other teams to beat us. That's the most important thing, we need to get that feeling back to the team and the results have been good so far in pre-season. We will be quietly confident going into the new campaign."

Gonzalo Rodriguez - Fiorentina

Villarreal have announced on their official website that defender Gonzalo Rodriguez has transferred to Fiorentina.

The 28-year-old Argentine-born centre-back has spent the past eight years at El Madrigal, but becomes the second player to transfer to Florence from the club this week, after Borja Valero.

In confirming Valero’s completion of his move to Italy, Villarreal announced today via their website that a deal had been agreed with the Viola for Rodriguez too.

“Villarreal and Fiorentina have reached an agreement for the transfer of Argentine defender Gonzalo Rodriguez, who will play next season at the Italian club,” read the statement on the Yellow Submarine’s site.

Rodriguez is now set to become the third centre-back to join Fiorentina this summer.

Emiliano Viviano - Fiorentina (loan with option to buy)

Emiliano Viviano is delighted that the saga of his dream move to Fiorentina has basically come to an end.

“I can finally wear the shirt of ‘my’ Viola,” he stated. “It has been a long wait, but I’m now happy. Thank you to everyone.”

The Tuscan club have been trying to sign the goalkeeper for weeks, but doing a deal proved to be problematic.

Viviano was co-owned between Palermo and Inter, but the Nerazzurri were against the idea of loaning him to Tuscany.

As a result, Palermo yesterday agreed a deal to sign the player outright. He’ll now join Fiorentina on loan with an option to buy.

Viviano, who arrived in Florence on Thursday for his medical, is a massive fan of his boyhood club.

Dickson Etuhu - Blackburn (£1.5million)

Blackburn Rovers are delighted to announce that we have reached an agreement with Fulham for the signing of Dickson Etuhu.

The Nigeria international midfielder has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal, which will keep him at Ewood Park until June 2016.

The 30-year-old, who played alongside Danny Murphy at Craven Cottage, becomes manager Steve Kean's seventh signing of the summer.

The Rovers boss said: "Dickson is a player I have admired for a long time and he will be a fantastic addition to the squad.

"He is a powerhouse in midfield, who has played at the highest level with Fulham and we feel confident he will complement our other midfield options."

Dickson started his career at Manchester City, before joining Preston North End in 2002, where he played just short of 150 games.

He joined Norwich city in January 2006, after an initial loan spell, before moving to the Premier League with Sunderland in June 2007.

After just one season at the Stadium of Light, he made the move down to Fulham, where he made 127 appearances, including a starting role in the 2010 Europa League final.

Dickson will fly out to Holland in the morning to join his new Rovers team-mates.

Kevin de Bruyne - Werder Bremen (loan)

He was tired, really tired. After Kevin de Bruyne had gone to his stress limit Thursday morning on the ergometer, his tiredness was clear on his face. "I have some unbelievably heavy legs," admitted the young Belgian. That's understandable. The 21-year-old had gone through a mini odyssey in the past few days, including flying over the north American continent as well as a return flight to London and then a train trip from London back home to Belgium, not to mention his travel to Bremen where he will play the coming season for Werder.

"I would like to play a lot and continue to develop. That's why I came here. The club gave me a lot of trust that I would like to pay back in the coming months. I just have a good feeling," de Bruyne told anxious journalists at the end of his official presentation.

He will be wearing number six on his jersey. It's a traditional number that had previously been worn by Werder greats such as Frank Baumann and Tim Borowski. "I don't have a favourite position but rather can play in a lot of positions in the offensive midfield. But it doesn't matter whether it's outside or in the middle. I will play where I am needed," said the Belgian international, who decided early on that he wanted to be a footballer. "I left home when I was 14 to fully concentrate on my sport. Football is the most important thing in my life," said de Bruyne.

Bremen have been watching the talented Belgian for some time. "Kevin has been observed from many of our scouts. It was only positive response, nearly euphoric reports. That is unusual," said Werder board chairman Klaus Allofs. Head coach Thomas Schaaf is also happy about the acquisition. "He fits excellently to Werder. He is very active, implements his ideas and heads to the front on his own. He is exactly the player who had been missing for us," said Schaaf.

After the official presentation mid-day, de Bruyne headed directly to the training grounds, right into his work with his new teammates. But Werder's newcomer's day was not over after training as he still went through more running drills with fitness coach Reinhard Schnittker. "The tiredness is not gone, but altogether I had a good feeling," said de Bruyne while leaving the training grounds - likely still with heavy legs.

Milos Krasic - Fenerbahce (Fenerbahce )

Fenerbahce have confirmed the signing of Juventus winger Milos Krasic after weeks of negotiations with the Serie A champions.

The 27-year-old has joined the Turkish club on a four-year contract which will see him net more than £2million per annum.

Krasic struggled to make Antonio Conte's first team last season, watching from the sidelines as the Turin giants lifted the Scudetto for the first time since 2006.

The Istanbul giants have been chasing Krasic's signature since the close of the season, and have tabled several offers despite the Bianconeri being reluctant to let the Serbia international go.

A statement on Fenerbahce's official website reads: "We have agreed terms with Milos Krasic.

"Juventus will receive 7million euros in transfer fees. Krasic has signed a four-year contract worth 2.3million euros per-season in addition to a 12 500 euro per-match bonus."

Eduardo Salvio - Benfica (€11 million)

Eduardo Salvio declared himself "happy and thankful" after moving from Club Atlético de Madrid to SL Benfica on a five-year deal, having impressed on loan in Lisbon in 2010/11.

Eduardo Salvio has swapped Club Atlético de Madrid for SL Benfica for an undisclosed fee.

Salvio has signed a five-year contract with Benfica, bringing an end to his two-and-a-half-season stay in the Spanish capital. He previously made 19 Portuguese Liga appearances for Benfica during a loan spell from Atlético during the 2010/11 campaign.

"I'm very happy and grateful to Benfica for their efforts in my acquisition," said the Argentinian international. "I wanted to return to the club and I will give my very best to thank everyone."

Salvio scored five goals in 44 Liga games for Atlético, having arrived from CA Lanús in January 2010. He featured as a substitute in the Rojiblancos' UEFA Europa League final triumphs of that year and 2012.

The former Iceland International front man will take squad number 22 for the 2012/13 season at Cardiff City Stadium, signing a one year deal in the Welsh capital for an undisclosed fee from the Hoops.

Friday will be Heidar's first day of training with his new team-mates, after an evening watching Iceland versus Sweden at Handball in the Olympics with fellow countryman Aron Gunnarsson tonight. The striker will also be included in the pre-season Bluebirds squad at Oxford United on Saturday.

Ivan Ramis - Wigan (€6 million)

Wigan Athletic can confirm that experienced Spanish defender Ivan Ramis has signed a three-year-deal with the Club after joining from La Liga side Real Mallorca for an undisclosed fee.

The 27 year-old becomes Roberto Martinez's second signing of the summer transfer window following the arrival of Fraser Fyvie in July, and could make his first appearance in a Latics shirt against his former club on Sunday when the two sides meet at the DW Stadium for a pre-season friendly match.

Ramis made 103 league appearances for Real Mallorca since making his debut in February 2004 against Albacete.

Aside from a loan spell at Real Valladolid during the 2005-06 season, Ramis has spent his entire career at Mallorca having risen through the ranks from the club's youth system.

Last season, the central defender made 34 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga side, scoring two goals, against Getafe and Rayo Vallecano.

Vladimir Weiss - Pescara (undisclosed fee)

Slovakian winger Vladimir Weiss has completed a transfer to Serie A side Pescara from reigning Premier League champions Manchester City for an undisclosed fee.

The winger has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the option to extend the contract for a further year if he can impress with his performances on the pitch this season.

Weiss leaves Manchester City after a three-year stay with the Citizens during which he represented the English side five times. The youngster signed for the Manchester club in 2009, but found first-team opportunities limited upon his arrival and his only appearance in the Premier League was as a substitute in the final game of the 2008/09 season.

The 22-year-old continued to struggle to make a breakthrough into the first-team and after not making a single appearance in the Premier League at the beginning of the 2009/10 season, was loaned out to Bolton Wanderers in January in order to gain crucial game time.

Weiss, who signed a contract extension in December 2009, has now been allowed to leave Manchester City after three loan spells.

The player joins Pescara, a side who have just gained promotion to Serie A by virtue of winning Serie B. The Slovakian international will be hoping that he can contribute to helping the side maintain their top flight status this season.

Benik Afobe - Bolton (loan)

Bolton Wanderers have added another striker to their ranks by securing the services of Arsenal forward Benik Afobe on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old has put pen-to-paper on his contract at the Reebok having recently returned from the Gunners’ tour of Asia, where he impressed in friendlies against Malaysia XI, Manchester City and Kitchee FC.

Manager Owen Coyle said: “Benik is a very exciting addition to our squad for this season and once again we would like to thank Arsenal and Arsene Wenger for agreeing to the loan.

“He is only 19 years old and you can see already that he is going to be a very good player. He has an eye for goal, is an athletic striker and there is much more to come from him.”

Afobe has been on Arsenal’s books since 2001 and has graduated through their highly-acclaimed academy.

In recent years, he has tasted senior football with loan spells at Huddersfield Town and Reading.

With the Terriers, in the 2010/11 season, he scored eight goals in 35 games as the West Yorkshire club narrowly missed out on promotion from League One.

Last season he played a part in Reading’s Championship title success, making three appearances during the final weeks of the campaign.

Afobe has represented England at Under-16, Under-17 and, most recently, Under-19 level, where he scored seven goals in ten appearances between October 2010 and May 2012.

Afobe continues Bolton’s close working relationship with Arsenal, following on from the loan spells that Jack Wilshere and Ryo Miyaichi enjoyed at the Reebok Stadium in the last few seasons.

Jose Angel - Real Sociedad (loan with option to buy)

Real Sociedad have signed Jose Angel on a season-long loan from Roma, with the view to a permanent transfer next summer.

The left-back moved to the Olimpico from Sporting Gijon last summer, but despite making 27 appearances in his debut season, the departure of coach Luis Enrique, coupled with Federico Balzaretti's arrival, saw his days in the Italian capital numbered.

However, he has now completed a move back to his native Spain, after successfully undergoing a medical examination on Friday.

"We have reached an agreement with AS Roma for the loan of Jose Angel Valdes to the club until the end of this season," a statement read on Real's offical website.

"We have a purchase option, which expires on June 15, 2013."

Real finished 12th in La Liga last season, their best finish since 2003, and start the new campaign away to Barcelona on August 18.

Andrew Crofts - Brighton and Hove Albion

Midfielder Andrew Crofts has rejoined Albion from Norwich City, two years after leaving the Seagulls for East Anglia.

Crofts was manager Gus Poyet's number one midfield target this summer, and the 28-year-old Welsh international completed his move this afternoon, signing a three-year deal at the Amex.

Poyet told seagulls.co.uk, "When we knew about the possibility to bring him back we worked very hard to do that, and it took a few weeks, but we are very pleased to have him.

"We respected his career and helped him when there was interest from Norwich two years ago, and he went on to become a very good Championship player, as well as proving himself in the Premier League.

"Now I am delighted to have him back and he is going to be a very important player for us. We were always looking to bring experienced players who know this division and the Premiership, and Crofty has all of that.

"He is coming back to a club that he knows and he was happy to come back - that shows his commitment. I know how much he cares about winning football games. He leads by example and we want players like that on the pitch."

Crofts played a prominent part in the Canaries side that won promotion into the Premier League during the 2010/11 season, making 44 appearances throughout the season and in total made over 70 appearances for the side in all competitions.

Prior to that he made 50 Albion appearances during his one season at Withdean, but it was at his hometown club Gillingham where his career began, where he racked up almost 200 appearances during nine years. He has also had loan spells at Peterborough United and Wrexham.
