Confirmed transfers 2012/13

You really are depressed man. Is married life that bad?

Yeah - quite a bit actually.

If you must know I opted for Redundancy (leave at the end of October) and leave my job which I have been in for 13 years now. In terms of Liverpool - well all I can say is that I was hoping for someone special to come in to confirm that good players want to play for us - BUT it looks like we have to break the bank to get anyone half decent in without any CL footy.

Sorry man ... chin up ... things will hopefully turn out ok. Try and watch the reserves etc - there's a LOT of optimism there ... Stay happy mate.

No - not worried about the redundo - I asked for it (in fact I begged for it - have had enough of where I work now - time to move on). Problem is - I am not sure what I will want to do next you see - have too many options in front of me that I go down but no idea which one.

i'll let binny do the rest .

must admit i'm a little jealous, i'd have liked cazorla for us . Lets see how he does .

Santi Cazorla - Arsenal (£16.5million)

Me too. What a transfer window Arsenal are having compared to the one last summer. Getting in the targets early.

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said: "Santi Cazorla is a great signing for us. He is a player with good experience at both club and international level, who will add significant quality to our squad.

"He is a versatile, attacking midfield player who can play comfortably on either side of the pitch or centrally. He has good pace, is technically gifted and will be a huge asset to Arsenal Football Club.

We are delighted that he is joining us."

Cazorla, who was voted Spanish Player of the Year in 2007, said: "I'm so happy to be joining Arsenal. This is a club with great players, a fantastic stadium and huge support.

"The Club has one of the best managers in football and their style of play is recognised and admired all over the world.

"I'm so excited to be joining one of the greatest teams in Europe and also in the Premier League. I will do my best to help Arsenal challenge for trophies and make all the supporters happy."

The Spain international has been linked with the Gunners in the past, and says when they made their move this time around he jumped at the chance.

“I am very happy to be here - it is a huge club,” Cazorla told Arsenal Player. “It is a great step forward in my career and I hope it will be a very good experience. I hope to win trophies here - that is what I want of course.

“I remember when I signed for Malaga [in 2011] there was already interest from Arsenal. It was always a club I liked very much.

“Because of circumstances in football, things have not gone the way we wanted in Malaga this year but now I am going to have the opportunity to experience the Premier League and to be at a big club.

“I could not miss this opportunity - I am 27 years old so it was the last train I could catch.”

Cazorla joins his new team-mates on their pre-season training camp in Germany, and can’t wait to begin this new chapter in his career.

“Everyone who has played here such as Robert Pires and Cesc Fabregas have spoken very highly about the Club,” he said.

“I think it's one of the greatest clubs in Europe, it is always fighting for silverware and just for those reasons it is worth trying to play at this club and in the Premier League.”

Don't mean to be so blunt, but - you're wrong. He's immense, and he'll be wonderful for them.
I could well be wrong he's just never really impressed me, but again I haven't seen him that much especially not at Malaga.

I am not that impressed with Muniain either, which also seems to be in sharp contrast with the general opinion on here.

Perhaps I'm just not that into small, Spanish wingers. Who knows.

He's looked every inch a world class footballer every time I've seen him play.

I agree on Muniain though.

I am well prepared to admit my wrongs with regards to Carzola and Muniain if needed be.

Ahmed, I understand the situation, but the very fact that there are so many options in front of you makes it more likely that you'll find what you're truly looking for. Keep the faith - in yourself and in LFC.

£16.5 million for a Spanish international with close to 50 caps, who has been a regular in La Liga football for the past 5+ seasons coupled with European competition experience is already a good deal in its own right. Considering he average a goal or assist every 3 games thus far in his career and is peaking in his career, this move looks bright for him.

Markus Rosenberg - West Brom (free transfer)

ALBION have won the race to sign Sweden international Markus Rosenberg.

The 29-year-old striker, who boasts an impressive goalscoring record in Germany, Spain and Holland, has penned a three-year deal after passing a Hawthorns medical. He will wear the No.8 shirt.

The deal for Rosenberg, who was out of contract after leaving Werder Bremen in May, remains subject to international clearance.

The former Ajax forward again hit double figures in the Bundesliga last season and was being tracked by clubs across Europe and in China.

Rosenberg, who has also found the net in the Champions League, UEFA Cup and Europa League, becomes Albion’s fourth summer signing, following Ben Foster, Yassine El Ghannasy and Claudio Yacob through the door.

Head coach Steve Clarke said: “I’m delighted to welcome Markus to the club.

“He is an experienced striker who has scored goals in three of Europe’s top leagues, as well as in the top European competitions, and is determined to prove himself in the Barclays Premier League.

“Markus will really increase competition for places in the forward areas and hopefully spur on the strikers we already have here.

“He had several other offers this summer but he made it clear that joining West Bromwich Albion was his first choice and we’re really pleased we’ve been able to conclude a deal.”

Rosenberg, who won't be considered for tonight's friendly at Walsall (ko 7.45pm), joined new Hawthorns team-mate and friend Jonas Olsson in Sweden’s Euro 2012 squad, playing against Ukraine and England during this summer’s tournament.

Sporting & technical director, Dan Ashworth, added: “We’ve been keeping tabs on Markus for two or three years now and getting a player of his calibre is a real coup for this club.

“He had offers from Spain, Germany, Turkey, Russia and China and we’re delighted he has chosen this club as the next step in his career.

“Markus is quick, has a great work ethic and can play in a couple of different positions.

“He’s scored goals wherever he’s played and gives us a different option to what we’ve already got.”

Rosenberg started his career at hometown club Malmo, where he progressed through the youth ranks.

In 2004, he enjoyed a remarkable season-long loan move to Halmstads, where he smashed 14 goals in 26 starts to help them finish second in the Allsenskan table – just two points behind his parent club.

Cazorla will be a good signing for them. They're building a very good side attacking wise. Still not sure if Giroud or Podolski will hit the ground running although they have to if RVP leaves.

Podolski is nowhere near Van Persie's level from a technical point of view, and what little I've seen of Giroud suggests to me that he isn't either. The jury's still out on the Arse IMO, even with Cazorla's arrival.

Daniel Ayala - Nottingham Fores (loan)

Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce the capture of Norwich City defender Daniel Ayala.

The Spanish Under 21 international has checked-in at The City Ground on a season-long loan and is the club's sixth new signing of the summer.

Forest Chairman Omar Al Hasawi said: "It is pleasing to have signed a player with such a wonderful pedigree.

"He's only 21 but has experienced life in the Premier League, as well as in the Championship, and adds to the defensive resources at Sean O'Driscoll's disposal."

Ayala came up through the youth set-up at Sevilla but in 2007 rejected a professional contract and joined Liverpool instead.

He made five Premier League appearances for Liverpool and produced a string of eye-catching displays in extended loan spells with Hull and Derby.

Ayala joined Norwich last summer in a deal reported to be worth £800,000 as the Canaries prepared for life back in the top flight.

A serious knee injury restricted his progress but he made 10 league and cup appearances for the East Anglian outfit.

Ayala told Forest Player: "I'm really looking forward to starting to play and starting to train with the other lads.

"I found out about Forest's interest about three days ago when Norwich told me I wasn't going to be playing too much, so I decided the best thing to do was go on loan and play football.

"I was a little bit disappointed at first because I want to play in the Premier League but I know how big a club Forest is and I'm looking forward to playing for them."

Ayala rose to prominence through the youth ranks at Selvilla but opted to join Liverpool in 2007 instead of signing a professional contact in his home country.

He adds: "I was only 16 and to be honest it was quite difficult to leave my family and friends but I knew what I wanted to do and I've no regrets."

Lee Peltier - Leeds Utd (£600k)

Leeds United have completed the signing of Leicester City defender Lee Peltier.

The 25-year-old former Liverpool trainee joins for an undisclosed fee and has signed a three-year contract with the club.

The highly rated right-back is a long-time target of manager Neil Warnock and he opted for a move to Leeds despite interest from a number of clubs.

Lee, who started his career with Liverpool, making four appearances for the club, has made over 200 career appearances during spells with Yeovil and Huddersfield before his move to Leicester in the summer of 2011.

Lee Peltier says he is "buzzing" after completing his switch from Leicester City at the weekend.

The 25-year-old sealed his move on Saturday afternoon before traveling across to Preston where delighted boss Neil Warnock introduced him to fans after the final whistle.

Lee signed a three-year contract, confirming weeks of media speculation that he was set to join United, despite interest from a host of clubs.

"It was a long process, but I'm buzzing now it's all sorted," said the former Liverpool trainee. "I couldn't wait to get stuck in with my first session on Monday.

"I wouldn't say the past few weeks have been frustrating, but when things go on for a while they get to you. I was at a good club, but I knew it was time to move on and as soon as I knew Leeds wanted me I wanted to come here.

"I had a few options, but I sat down with my family and friends, and went through them all, and Leeds was my first choice. You look at the fan base and the size of the club is massive, the gaffer can attract players with his record, and I wanted to come here."

Lee started his career at Liverpool as youngster and after moving on to Yeovil he spent two seasons with Huddersfield in League One before stepping up to the Championship with Leicester after the Terriers failed to win promotion in 2011.

Lee was signed by Sven Goran Eriksson at Leicester, but the former England boss was replaced by Nigel Pearson, and the new boss has looked to re-shuffle.

"I enjoyed my time at Leicester and made a lot of good friends, but it was time to move on and this is a new chapter in my career," said Lee.

"The manager hasn't hidden that he wants promotion and I've bought into what he had to say. I was looking though the fixtures, there's some good teams and it's going to be a good season.

"Most of the teams I've been to have been in the same situation with ambitions of promotion so I'm used to that and I just want to get cracking."

United fans may remember Lee as an attacking full-back from his appearances against us for both Yeovil and Huddersfield.

"I'm an honest player who can work hard," he said. "I like to get forward. First and foremost I'm a defender, but if there's a chance to get forward I will."

Henoc Mukendi - Henoc Mukendi (loan till Jan 2013)

Northampton Town have signed Liverpool striker Henoc Mukendi on loan until the January transfer window.

The powerful 18 year old, can also play wide on the left.

“Henoc will be here until at least January," said boss Aidy Boothroyd.

“He’s only 18 years old but he’s very talented and he’s here to learn.

“He’s a lot different to Toni Silva in both his stature and the way that he plays but I was very pleased with how he did when he came on against West Ham.

“I’ve worked with a lot of good young players and Henoc has definitely one with a lot of potential."

Markus Rosenberg - West Brom (free transfer)

rosenburg1151-297113_478x359.jpg

STEVE Clarke has called for patience with new signing Markus Rosenberg as he gets up to speed with his fitness before tackling a new league.

The Sweden striker yesterday put pen to paper on a three-year Baggies deal and watched his new team-mates from the stands during last night’s 3-1 pre-season win at Walsall.

But having been out of contract, Rosenberg has not trained with a team since exiting Euro 2012 with his country on June 19.

And Clarke admits the Barclays Premier League opener against Liverpool on Saturday week (ko 3pm) could come too soon for him.

“Markus works hard for the team and his energy levels are fantastic,” said the Albion chief.

“He joins us after a seven-week break, which is not ideal, so his energy levels are not fantastic at the moment.

“But he trained for the first time with some of the players yesterday and he’s excited about the challenge - and it is a challenge.

“Playing in the Premier League, no matter where you’ve been, it’s a different league.

“And all the players we’ve brought in will take a little bit of time to adjust.

“Markus will take a bit of time physically to catch up with the rest.

“We’ll work him as hard as we feel necessary between now and the start of the season.

“But, if he’s not ready then, he’ll be ready when he is.”

Carlos Marchena - Deportivo La Coruna

Carlos Marchena is now a Deportivo player, having been signed from Villareal, where he's played for the last two seasons and where his contract was due to run until June 2013. Deportivo confirmed that the veteran centre-back, aged 33, arrived in La Coruña on Monday and will be unveiled at the Riazor stadium, presuming he passes a medical.

The Deportivo La Coruña stadium will open its doors to the fans so they can give a warm welcome to the player, who is also comfortable in midfield as well as his usual position in defence, and who brings valuable experience with him, something that the team has needed since the Argentine Diego Colotto left for Espanyol.

The Andalusia-born player, who was a European champion in 2008 and World Cup winner in 2010 with Spain, has put an end to his spell with Villarreal, a team he joined after his last title with the Spain squad.

With his signing, the team from La Coruña only needs to bring in one striker to complete the squad that José Luis Oltra will lead during the 2012-2013 season.

As well as Marchena, Deportivo has signed the Portuguese players André Santos, Pizzi, Roderick Miranda and Nélson Oliveira, as well as extending the loan of Diogo Salomão, also Portuguese, and completing the transfer of the Brazilian full-back Evaldo Fabiano.

Alberto Botia - Sevilla (loan with option to buy)

Sevilla are about to sign defender Alberto Botia from Sporting Gijon, the Spanish giants have announced on their official website.

The 23-year-old, who began his professional career at Barcelona, has passed a medical at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan after los Colchoneros agreed on the transfer fee with his current club.

The youngster will be officially unveiled as a Sevilla player once he agrees personal terms with the La Liga side.

Alberto Botia, who represented Spain at the 2012 Summer Olympics, is widely regarded as one of the most talented defenders in Spanish La Liga and was recently linked with a return to camp Nou.

However, Sevilla decided to make a move on the highly rated youngster after centre-back Julien Escude left the club on a free transfer earlier this summer.

Los Colchoneros are thus set to wrap up the capture of one of the most promising defenders in Spain’s top flight and the player who has scored two goals and earned 38 yellow cards in 89 La Liga games.

Michael Kightly - Stoke City (undisclosed fee, reportedly £3 million - £1.5m up front with a further £1m payable after 12 months and the rest in guaranteed add-ons)

STOKE CITY have today secured the capture of Michael Kightly from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old midfielder put pen-to-paper to seal the transfer after agreeing personal terms and completing a medical.

Kightly makes the short move across Staffordshire to the Britannia Stadium to provide more competition in wide positions within manager Tony Pulis’ squad as the Club prepares for a fifth season in the Premier League.

“There is nothing better than to have strong competition in all areas of the squad and Michael’s arrival will give us that in the wide positions,” commented Pulis following confirmation that Kightly had completed his move.

“I’ve long been an admirer of Michael, not only in terms of him being a provider, but also the fact that he gets his share of goals.

“Our two wingers, Matthew Etherington and Jermaine Pennant, have been brilliant for this Football Club over the past few years, but they went off the boil in terms of goalscoring last season, so we wanted to address that.”

“Competition for places will bring the best out of them again and that is what Michael’s presence will give us in that area.”

Kightly is excited about the prospect of remaining in the top-flight of English football following his switch to the Britannia Stadium.

“It’s a great club; an established Premier League club, so I am delighted to be here,” he said after finalising the transfer from Wolves.

“Any footballer wants to play at the highest level and I am grateful to Stoke for giving me the chance to stay in the Premier League.

“The Club sold itself to me. What they have achieved over the past few years has been remarkable. Then there’s the excellent facilities and, of course, the supporters. So, it’s definitely a Club that is moving in the right direction.”

England Under-21 international Kightly has made the move to Stoke after spending five years with Staffordshire rivals Wolves.

Originally from Basildon, he joined the Molineux club after catching the eye while playing for Conference side Grays Athletic.

Happy he didn't go to United.

I wonder how PSG compete in the CL this season with their new look side.

They look fantastic. If they hit it off from the get go, I wouldnt be surprised if they got to a quarter/semi final.
