Matthias Sammer - Bayern Munich (Sport Director)

Following an analysis of the 2011/12 season conducted by the FC Bayern Supervisory Board, the Board of Directors, and director of sport Christian Nerlinger, differences of opinion became clear regarding the strategy for the future of the team. As a result, FC Bayern and Christian Nerlinger agreed at the time to part company ahead of the 2012/13 season.

Due to the imminent EURO 2012 tournament and the turbulence which would reasonably be expected to arise from this decision, it was agreed to withhold the announcement of Christian Nerlinger’s departure until after the European championship.

Final talks regarding the appointment of Matthias Sammer as the club’s new “board director responsible for the professional playing staff” were thus only completed last weekend. Over the last two days, Matthias Sammer and FC Bayern reached agreement on the scope of his new appointment. Matthias Sammer has accordingly been released from his current duties with the German Football Association (DFB) in the course of Monday morning

Matthias Sammer is thus free to take up his duties as FC Bayern Munich “Sport Director” with immediate effect.

“On behalf of the club, I wish to expressly thank Christian Nerlinger for his work for FC Bayern over the last four years,“ commented FC Bayern Supervisory Board chairman Uli Hoeneß, “I very much hope our excellent personal relationship will continue as it is.“

“As always, I wish FC Bayern all the best and every possible success,“ commented Christian Nerlinger, “I’ve spent a good and very intensive time here and will maintain my links to FC Bayern as a friend of the club.“

Dick Advocaat - PSV (Manager)

PSV have appointed Dick Advocaat as their new head coach. He will sign a one-year contract at the club he successfully managed from 1995/98. The 64-year-old leaves his position as Russia coach after Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. Advocaat will start his new job in Eindhoven on 1 July.

“PSV wanted to attract an excellent and enthusiastic coach and Dick Advocaat was keen to take the job at PSV”, said technical director Marcel Brands, explaining PSV´s motives for signing Dick Advocaat as their new head coach for the 2012/13 season. “Although Dick Advocaat received very lucrative offers from Russia, he decided to sign a contract with PSV, which strengthens our confidence in this cooperation. He knows the club from a previous spell and thinks that PSV has great potential. Advocaat is looking forward to working with a number of young assistants, who also had a successful spell as a player under him at PSV”, explained Brands.

I have happy memories of my first stint at PSV”, told 64-year-told Dick Advocaat PSV TV on Friday morning. “And people will hopefully cherish happy memories of my second stint. I vividly remember the great atmosphere at the club, both in the stadium and at De Herdgang training facilities. I’ve always maintained I would once return to PSV I left here fourteen years ago and I’ve meanwhile gained much experience, working in many foreign countries. This is the ideal moment to come back as PSV failed to win the championship title the past few seasons. PSV have the potential to compete and achieve at any level”, said Advocaat.

Advocaat has returned to Eindhoven to achieve successes. “It’s my task to win the title, I keep telling myself. Nobody else needs to remind me of that mission. I´m not here to prepare coaches, I’m here to be champion. I know my assistants. They had a successful spell as a player under me at PSV. They must find out what’s important for them.”, Advocaat said, smiling brightly.

Advocaat denied that being at the helm at PSV would be his last job in football. “We’ll just have to wait and see. Anyway, I’m looking forward to taking up my new role as head coach at PSV. I’m also looking forward to cooperating with Marcel Brands, the technical director with whom I’ve worked before.” Brands revealed that Advocaat had a good feeling when asked to consider a return to the club he successfully managed from 1995/98. “We established a good working relationship while we were at AZ. Dick Advocaat is a quality coach. We are very happy he has decided to return to the Philips Stadion. His track record speaks for itself. We don’t have to tell him what our ambitions are. He knows only too well and wants to challenge for the league title next year.”

Fabio - QPR (loan)

Highly-rated Manchester United defender Fabio da Silva has put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal at Loftus Road.

The talented Brazilian, who has made 53 First Team appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils, has agreed a deal until the end of the 2012/13 season.

Fabio will link up with his new QPR team-mates at pre-season training on Monday, ironically the day when he celebrates his 22nd birthday.

A delighted Mark Hughes told www.qpr.co.uk: "It's a great opportunity for us to loan a good, young player, who has decent experience of playing for a top Club like Manchester United.

"He's played a lot of senior games for United, so it shows the quality he's got.

"I know they think very highly of him and we believe he has all the attributes to be a success here next season."

Hughes believes da Silva's versatility will give him far greater defensive options next season, adding: "First and foremost, he's a good defender. He's got great enthusiasm as well, and just like his brother (fellow United team-mate, Rafael), he's a top professional.

"We can give him the games he's craving at this stage of his career, so it benefits everybody.

"He's very versatile - he can play left or right-back and he's also been utilised in midfield by Sir Alex (Ferguson) in the past, so we know what we're getting, and that's a very good player."

Fabio, who just missed out on a place in the Brazilian squad for this summer's Olympics, said: "I'm so happy to be here.

"This loan is so important for me in terms of my career. I want to play as many games as possible here. I want to play well and win games as well.

"It's a good move for my career and for my confidence.

"Sir Alex Ferguson said that I'd enjoy it here and told me to play as many games as I can."

He added: "I know that QPR is a Club with great history. I read about the history and that's why I'm here.

"I also came here because I'm ambitious. I want to help QPR progress up the Premier League.

"Hopefully the fans will enjoy watching me in action, because I'll do my best."

Oh right! Then yeah, Deschamps for les bleu

Latest rumour is Deschamp's ruling himself out of the post and Paul Le Guen is current favourite. Others in the running include Alain Giresse, René Girard, Rudi Garcia.

I think they should give it Houllier. If they don't make the world cup, he can blame it on Ginola.

Ezequiel Lavezzi - Paris Saint-Germain (reportedly €30m)

The Ligue 1 club have released a statement confirming that the Argentina international has signed a four-year contract with the club.

Lavezzi, 27, will wear the number 11 shirt at PSG and will be presented to the press later this evening at Parc des Princes having completed a medical earlier on Monday.

The transfer is worth an estimated 30 million euros (£24.1 million) and underlines PSG's intent to compete at the very top level of European football.

Lavezzi was one of the key figures in a Napoli team that played in the Champions League last season and at times threatened to disrupt the established order in Italian football.

The forward scored 38 goals in five seasons in Serie A following a move from Estudiantes to the Naples club in 2007.

Ezequiel Lavezzi has been presented to the Press this evening as an official Paris Saint-Germain player and has explained his reasons for leaving Serie A.

Rumours through 2011-12 spoke of Lavezzi’s desire to leave Napoli this summer, and it quickly became apparent that he would be leaving with confirmation that talks with PSG were being held.

A deal for the 27-year-old, who spent five years with Napoli, has now been confirmed, and in being unveiled to the media on Monday evening, Lavezzi explained his motives for joining the French League runners up.

“Welcome everyone. I’ve been very quiet during these past few weeks. I have used this time to enjoy the holidays and recharge my batteries for next season,” began Lavezzi to the assembled media.

“Also, the deal has materialised in this time. What convinced me to come here is the project at Paris Saint-Germain.

“In sporting terms, a club like PSG will help me progress. I believe that within a short space of time this club can become one of the most important clubs, like Barcelona.

“The League is a very competitive one. There is a great opportunity to win titles and I intend to contribute.”

The forward was asked if his departure was another sign that Serie A is a League that is in crisis.

“I don’t think Serie A is in crisis, it is one of the most competitive Leagues. I repeat, what has prompted me to come here was the project, and also PSG’s desire to buy me.

“Moreover, this city is beautiful for any player. I hope to find the same warmth that I found in Naples.

“My role model? As a child I loved the way Claudio Caniggia played.

“Speaking French? I’ll have to learn the language quickly, I think that communication is very important for any group.”

Lavezzi revealed that new teammate Javier Pastore had spoken to him about the club.

“He told me a lot about the club, of course. But also, of the city of Paris. I spoke with him when we were together with the national team. Not during my holiday, but yes, we had previously discussed Paris Saint-Germain together.”

Sporting director Leonardo also spoke briefly at the conference.

“Ezequiel has signed for four years with us and is a player that we have followed for a long time, we are very happy to welcome him here.

“He is a very important player to arrive here. It will mark a day in the club’s history, I am sure.

“The club has the belief of advancing as a team with his personality and quality. A player like Ezequiel will pull the group up.

“Paris looks forward, the future will be rich, I am sure.”

Blackburn Rovers have this evening completed the signing of Leon Best from Newcastle United.

The 25-year-old striker makes the move from the North East to the North West for a fee of more than £3m, signing a four-year deal.

Born in Nottingham, Best started his professional footballing career at Southampton in 2004 and during three years on the south coast he also enjoyed loan spells at Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday, Bournemouth and Yeovil Town before he secured a permanent move to Coventry City in 2007.

The speedy forward would go onto make almost a hundred appearances for the Sky Blues in a three-year spell, scoring on 19 occasions, and it was his record during the 2009/10 season where he scored 10 goals from 26 starts for Coventry that caught the attentions of Newcastle United and he secured a move to the Magpies.

Amauri - Parma (free transfer)

Parma have re-signed former Juventus striker Amauri, marking a return for the player to the club he spent 2010-11 on loan at.

The Brazilian-born forward, who has been capped once for Italy, was available on a free transfer this summer after finishing a six-month spell with Fiorentina.

Linked with a number of clubs, it is the Ducali who have captured the 32-year-old, who in 2011 scored seven times from 11 appearances whilst in Emilia-Romagna.

“Parma announce today that it has completed an agreement with Brazilian striker Amauri, who returns to wear the shirt after his crucial contribution made in the 2010-11 season,” read a statement on the Gialloblu’s official website.

The player has signed a two-year contract with Parma, with the option for a third year. Amauri will be officially presented to the Press on Tuesday July 3.

“Parma hopes that many fans will want to come and say hello at the stadium and show him their love and enthusiasm for his return in yellow and blue!”

What a player Sammer was. Its a shame so few teams play with a sweeper these days.
Lavezzi looks a good buy at £24m. He should tear it up in the french league.

Two facts. One opinion.

Whilst it is an opinion... It technically was a fact as he said "I said". Whilst what he said technically was an opinion, the fact comes from the fact he said "I said"... Which he definitely did!

Prob wrong but I fancy being a cuntchops

Jacob Butterfield- Norwich (free transfer)

CHRIS Hughton has secured his second signing of the summer in highly rated youngster Jacob Butterfield, the former Barnsley captain whose contract expired at Oakwell on June 30.

He arrives after a five-year spell at Oakwell to sign a four-year contract for the Canaries, and was unveiled at a press conference at Carrow Road this afternoon.

He played 100 games in all competitions at the heart of the Tykes midfield where he scored eight goals, form which also saw him become an England Under-21 international in November 2011.

And now at Carrow Road, Butterfield is eager to get started: "I am absolutely delighted, Norwich is a big Club and did fantastic in the Premier League last season and after speaking to Chris [Hughton] about how much he wanted to bring me here to the Club he really sold it to me," he said.

"I'm really looking forward to getting on now and working under the gaffer. I spoke to him several times and was really impressed with him; his knowledge of football is second to none.

"It's a big Club and everyone knows that, the training ground is lovely and Carrow Road is a great stadium. I've met a lot of lovely people already and I'm delighted to have signed. I'm just looking forward to getting down here and getting in to it now."

Manager Chris Hughton was delighted to secure the signature of another highly talented young English midfielder saying: "He's a player that has shown great form at Barnsley in the first half of last season playing off the front of the striker and he also spent some time in the wider areas there.

"He caught my eye not only last season, but in previous seasons. His form last year was a very good period for him and for anybody who didn't know about him before, he certainly would've caught their eye last season.

"That is of course before he picked up an injury which is over now, which we are delighted about, but he's a talent. He's got that good balance between being a good age, but at 22-years old he's also got that league experience as well. He's a player very much on the up."

The Bradford-born midfielder started his career at Barnsley, making his debut in 2007 as a 17-year old, coming on as a substitute in the Tykes 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the Carling Cup. The next season proved to be a bit of a watershed for the talented midfielder as he spent the season in and around the first-team squad, making an appearance at Wembley in Barnsley's FA Cup Semi-Final defeat to Cardiff City.

He opened his scoring account on the opening day of the 2009/10 season at Hillsborough in the Tykes 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday, going on to become a regular in the Oakwell engine room in 2010/11 where he made 41 appearances, scoring two goals. His goal in Barnsley's 4-2 win over Bristol City in April 2011 was voted the Tykes' goal of the season by the fans.

But it was last season where his talents came to the forefront as he produced a terrific run of form that saw him score five goals before Christmas, form that also earned him his England Under-21 debut in the Young Lions' European Under-21 qualifier against Iceland in November.

His season ended in unfortunate fashion though during the Tykes 4-1 win over Leeds on New Year's Eve due to a knee injury, but with that now behind him he arrives at Carrow Road as Chris Hughton's second summer signing.

nicola_leali.jpg

Nicola Leali - Juventus (€3.8 million)

Nicola Leali has completed a switch to Juventus after an agreement was reached with Brescia for the goalkeeper’s permanent transfer.

The 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year deal which expires on 30 June 2017.

“It’s a dream come true,” said Leali. “Joining such a prestigious club at my age is extremely gratifying and a great motivation to keep developing further. Being part of the same club as a champion like Gigi Buffon is hugely satisfying, but it also makes me realise how much I’ll have to work for the opportunity to repay the trust placed in me.”

Leali’s signing represents a further addition to the club’s promising pool of talent. After rising through the Rondinelle youth ranks, he made his Serie A debut against Cesena on 15 May 2011. His sharp reflexes and good positioning immediately caught the eye, prompting 16 further appearances over the course of the club’s Serie B campaign.

Kevin Keen - West Brom (Joint-Assistant Head Coach)

STEVE Clarke has today bolstered his backroom staff by appointing Kevin Keen as Joint-Assistant Head Coach alongside Keith Downing.

The 45-year-old former West Ham United and Liverpool first-team coach joins Albion with immediate effect.

Head Coach Clarke previously worked with Keen under manager Gianfranco Zola at Upton Park for two seasons and for a further year at Anfield during Kenny Dalglish's recent reign.

The pair will now be reunited for a second time, with Downing retaining the role he successfully stepped up to under former boss Roy Hodgson following Michael Appleton's departure to Portsmouth last November, and Dean Kiely remaining as goalkeeper coach.

Clarke said: "Kevin is a fantastic coach, enthusiastic and hard-working.

"He understands me, knows what makes me tick, and most importantly is a good person to have around the place.

"I think I've now got a great mixture in my coaching staff with Keith and Dean, who know the club and players inside out, and Kevin, who knows me and can help make that connection to all the staff easier."

Keen, who has held his UEFA Pro License since 2007, made over 600 appearances and scored more than 50 goals as a player for Wycombe Wanderers, West Ham, Wolves, Stoke City and Macclesfield Town.

At Moss Rose he also had a brief stint as caretaker manager following manager Gil Prescott's decision to concentrate on a role as director of football in October 2001.

Keen hung up his boots in 2002 and immediately turned to coaching by rejoining the Hammers as Under-17s Academy coach in July that year before going on to become reserve-team boss.

A role as first-team coach followed and he had three caretaker manager spells in nine years at the East London club before joining the Reds last July and helping them to League Cup success.

Albion Sporting & Technical Director Dan Ashworth added: "I'm delighted to welcome Kevin to the club.

"Steve was eager to work with Keith Downing and Dean Kiely when he arrived and also targeted Kevin as the person he would most like to bring in.

"We're delighted we've been able to keep the nucleus of last season's very successful backroom staff together.

"And since Terry Burton left as first-team coach in March we always had it in mind we would appoint another member of coaching staff at the end of the season - and we're pleased to have captured someone of Kevin's calibre."

As a player, Keen was a tricky winger who started his career at Wycombe and was an England Youth regular.

He joined West Ham as a 16-year-old apprentice in 1983 and a year later signed pro forms.

During a ten-year spell at United he made more than 279 appearances and netted 30 goals before switching to Wolves in 1993, where he briefly played alongside Downing.

He joined Stoke in October of the following year, clocking up over 200 appearances and scoring 12 goals for the Potters before his final move to The Silkmen in September 2000.

Tranquillo-Barnetta,-Switzerland-.jpg

Tranquillo Barnetta - Schalke (free transfer)

In Switzerland's 5-3 win over Germany in a Euro 2012 warm-up at the end of May he gave a brilliant performance, making three of his country's goals. Now he will shine for the Royal Blues: FC Schalke 04 have signed Tranquillo Barnetta.

Barnetta, 27, arrives on a free transfer from Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen and has put pen to paper on a three-year deal that ties him to the club until 30 June 2015. He will wear the number 27 shirt.

"We're delighted Tranquillo has elected to join us," said general manager Horst Heldt. "He has great quality and is very versatile, as he has shown for both Leverkusen and Switzerland. We were also able to get him on a free transfer."

Born in St Gallen, Barnetta began his career as a junior at FC Rotmonten and joined FC St Gallen's youth setup in 1996. He made his professional debut at the age of 17 and scored 12 goals in 60 top-flight appearances before being snapped up by Bayer Leverkusen in 2004. The Rhinelanders initially sent him on a season-long loan to Hannover 96, for whom he made his Bundesliga bow. He returned to Leverkusen at the start of the 2005/06 season and has racked up 194 Bundesliga appearances to date, scoring 25 goals and making 41.

Barnetta was a member of the Switzerland squad that won the Under-17 European Championship in 2002. He made his full international debut in 2004 and was in the Swiss parties at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups and the 2004 and 2008 European Championships. Barnetta has played for his country 61 times so far and scored eight goals.
