Im just watching a Fowler goals compendium here, and what strikes me is just how good Collymore was.
I loved him when he came to us and thought he and Fowler were as good a partnership as ive seen.
The years that passed by have dulled my love for him, and i was left feeling a bit let down by him in the end. But what a fucking player he was. He had the power and presence of Vieira and the skill running with the ball of an Henry....ok not quite, but i cant help but feel he played for us in the wrong era, when our team and discipline werent what they ought to have been. The squad was good and maybe a Houllier could have won things for us then or maybe im being unfair to Evans and we just werent good enough.
A young fit Collymore today would be perfect for our left attacking berth.
