Seeing as we haven't been in the CL for a few years does this mean that we will be unseeded? Or because we finished 2nd have some bearing on that? Cheers all.

We are in 32nd place as since 2009 we have only earned 44 or so points, no idea where this years points come from, maybe the accompanying explanation was too short after all.

I think it's the association coefficient. If you look at 11/12 when we were out of Europe, we got 3.050 points as well. Scroll down to #94 and look at Wigan's points and they got 3.050 for the same season, as did Villa at #96.
It's worth noting that if we qualify for CL again next year we'll likely have the same problem, because this year is the last year that 09/10, our last good year in Europe, counts towards the coefficient. So unless we get to the semis next season we'll probably be back in pot 3. If we do poorly we might even drop to pot 4.
We only, far from a given I know, need to qualify from our group to improve on the 09/10 season Peter.
Er surely not? We got to the EL semi finals that year. If you look at our points for that year they're by far the highest of our last 5 seasons.
09/10 we bombed out at the group stages.
We lost out to Fiorentina and Lyon.
The points total for that years coefficient might relate to the previous season's performance though

Ok, our points for 09/10 were 24. Arsenal got 21 for the last 16 this season, Utd 26 for the QF, and Chelsea 28 for the SF.
So presumably a last 16 exit next season will see a small decrease in our total score, and a QF or SF exit a small increase. We would probably have to get to the final to get into pot 2.
