Still 5 days to go, but what the hell I'm to excited about our upcoming games.

Do we play the same team or change things around? I'd go for the same team. Need to push on and play like we did against Utd. Will be a tough game against a team on the brink of going down.

Ming
Johnson Skrtel Agger Flanno
Hendo Gerrard Allen
Sterling Sturridge Suarez

Neil Swarbrick has been appointed as ref for this game. He's reffed us in 3 games before - all losses against Villa, WBA and Southampton at home this season. He's a dickhead if I remember correctly.

Soton we lost 1-0 but we beat WBA (suarez x3) 4-1 at home, and Villa was 2-2

I think I said prior to the Southampton game that we would win it and the one at Old Trafford but drop points against Cardiff.
I hope I ain't turning into some sort of clairvoyant 🙁

It will be a very tough game. They'll be up for it but hopefully our quality will win us the 3 points.
Hope to God you're not right....

Oh ... no worries, we should be able to compete and hopefully dominate regardless of ref.

Absolutly. It was just an interesting stat. This season is all about bogey teams and overturning them. Maybe it will include refs aswell?! 😉

It's about the players mentality. If they go into it thinking like Gary we'll most likely fuck it up.
It's gonna be a battle. Just like Everton realised during the game.

Gerrard and Rodgers wont allow that to happen. We'll be up for a fight.

This is normally the sorta game we'd lose but we'll win. More scrappily than we've been used to though

Ha, by the end of the week i could go full circle and be thinking we'll drop vitals points.

Atm, i just can't see it though... reckon Solskjaer will send them out to have a go at us, and provided we don't fuck up at the back, that game plan will play right into our hands. Especially if we get an early(ish) goal, their defence is liable to crumble.

They do have some dangerous players with the likes of Noone and Fraizer Campbell, Zaha's been playing well lately as well.

I'd like to see Sakho get into the side for Agger. Agger was pretty good against United, but there was that one time he just decided to stop marking RVP, which was very worrying.

I also think we've finally realized that our MF works best with one of Lucas/Gerrard plus Allen and Hendo. Lucas plus Gerrard is just too stagnant. I could've swore I made this point several months back. Hopefully we keep the MF unchanged, with Lucas coming on for Gerrard later on if we have a cushion.

I wouldn't mind Aspas getting an extended run out(20+ mins) if we can get a decent lead. I think he still has something to contribute to us this season, and has the ability to do so.

Wait wait wait....hold on a sec. So now it's OK to change a winning team.
We looked very good at the back against Man U and Agger displayed some decent passing and composure.

It really depends on how Cardiff plays. If they are going to pack their defence then Coutinho should play. Who, at the expense of, I dont know.

They've lost 9 of their last 11 games.
We have to win this.
They're getting desperate and I think they'll come out strong after narrowly losing to Everton.
We have to keep calm and do what we do. Keep control of the midfield.

They are dog shite, were to good for them, comfortable win.

It feels like the Rafa days when you just knew we would piss those European games.

Well, we had two chances most of times. (home/away)

Sakho will have to wait. Rodgers is quite consistent with this, he will not drop a CB after a clean sheet and a decent performance. If everyone is healthy, I expect to see the same team, but tactically we might line up in a 4-3-3 instead of the "diamond."

I wonder if Flanno and Johnson will keep the same flanks as in the United game or switch again.

Agreed, Cardiff would most likely want to stretch the game and attack our flanks through Whittingham and Noone. They're pretty strong in the air so we need to be a bit careful about giving them set piece chances.

I'd also consider starting Coutinho in this game.

Stick to the winning team; if there's a tactical change needed, it's more a question of whether we need to play Coutinho, and then, at whose expense.

I'm not so sure we need to go with the diamond in this game, so reverting to the 4-3-3 with Suarez and Sterling out wide again might be what Rodgers goes with. It then comes down to whether Coutinho starts ahead of Allen, for that additional attacking prowess.
