The idea that you have to show support on a football forum is just absurd.
Going slightly off topic here neil but I'm sure it was made up by the club recently and attributed to Shankly by clever use of the great mans photo alongside it. I'd love to be proven wrong on this but I can't find any history of this quote before Oct/ Nov last year. As I say, I absolutely agree with the sentiment

I guess that all depends what your definition of support is. No-one is happy when we lose or do badly but people will react in different ways but people are different. Some people will only see the bad, some will look out for positives only and some may actually have a balanced view. Some people have patience and believe things will take time to put right and an increasing number expect instant success, ignoring the fact some has been delivered so far. Some believe we're not too far away from becoming a decent team others think we're miles away. Nobody can be happy with our form though, that's shit.
And to show some common support for your team isn't ? Why post on a Liverpool FC forum then? May as well go on a generic footy forum.

Depends on your perspective. To Liverpool the team, how they play and perform - no. To the posters and their 'enjoyment or experience' on the forum, yes. Reading bile aimed at something close to you, such as LFC, will probably not be taken the right way.

you could argue that what happens on a football forum does filter down to the pitch. for instance on a forum you can come up with a song for a player and then hear that song at the match, so if there is negativity towards a player could that also filter down to the pitch?

I don't think there is such a thing as a good/bad supporter we all want the same thing though. The instant success thing is completely unrealistic though unless you have a sugar daddy, which we don't. I wish the Internet would have been around when Ferguson first took over Man U. He'd have been gone way before he won that first title.
