Bye Bye Kenny???????

we can point to the 'zero assists' column, but let's be honest here, he should have a few but the finishing has been beyond dire.

I agree with modo. Yes we can't shift aqua but he did alright when he did play and helped us score goals.

Downing...less so.

He didn't help us win anything or even come close to winning anything when he was here. If we win the FA Cup then Downing will have contributed to that.

I'm not saying either were any good as signings. Both have been disappointing. But Aquilani's transfer has been a total expensive mess from start to finish. Well, actually it hasn't finished yet, as not one club in World football considers him worthy of a contract.

If Downing leaves at the end of the season and we claw some money back then he would have been a poor signing and a mistake but that would at least be the end of it. Didn't Benitez used to get praised by loads of people for moving his mistakes on quickly?

What difference does it make who was marginally less sh!t, when neither has lived up to his fee? We could at least recoup something on Downing. Aquilani on the other hand is one feckin great black hole.

Yes, that is also true, though a difficult one to prove either way.

That is kind of why I have always had my doubts slightly when people have said both Carroll and Downing are hopeless failures. They might well be of course, but equally it could also be that one has performed more poorly because of the failings of the other one.

Come on now, not one measly assist? ONE?
Is that so much to ask for?
Yesterday I saw crippled player crossing the ball better than Downing has all season.
I bet you if he was healthy and played as many games as Downing has on the left wing, he'd have at least one assist this season.
What I'm saying is that you can't solely blame our finishing, you have to look at the delivery as well.

Well you would be unlikely to see Aquilani cross the ball any better than anyone, given that he never plays because every manager in World football thinks he's rubbish.

Actually I didn't say anything that different. Just that I am not totally convinced that they are both as awful as is made out.

Well the flaw in that argument is our current league position. And it's been that way for a few years now.

Plus the fact that I don't think Kenny will deliver in the transfer window this Summer.
1.It is a huge flaw but I think the players have given up on the league since the defeat to Arsenal at Anfield.
Everyone knows it's not good enough and half the cunts should be forced to give their wages back.
It has practically the same as the 04/05 season but before everyone beats the drum about Kenny spending 100 million but let's look at the spine of the team Rafa was left.
We are the same, points wise behind the leaders as in 04/05 in a league with City and Tottenham having improved no end.
2.If Kenny screws up another transfer window then he should walk but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for the time being.

I don't think Aquilani is a bad footballer but it's one of the worst transfers in the history of football.

I wouldn't call it a flaw, per se, but I see where you're coming from.

However, surely Kenny should be given a chance to improve the squad?

We almost won the Europa League thanks to Aqua. You have a bad memory.

Oh right. I forgot about that one (almost) full game he played in that competition, which we didn't even get to the final of. How silly of me.

Honestly, I can handle how getting to the final and losing in the Champions League is listed as an achievement, but limping to the semi finals of the Europa League? Not really.

The pressue on Henderson is a direct result of management. I think he's shit, but I wouldn't care if he was shit and had cost a few million quid and was titting about in the reserves. But he's shit and is in our top ten highest cost purchases, and as a result of the utterly stupid transfer fee we paid for him he's playing in nearly ever match and being useless in the majority. It's not his fault he's shit, but it gets too complicated moaning at our complex hierarchical structure. At this point they can all fuck off.

Agreed. Have a go at Henderson, and you're told "he's only a kid, he needs time to blossom", well fair enough, but his presence in the team is costing us.

I have to say some of the verbal abuse he was getting last night(i was in the Main Stand) wasn't nice to say the least. I was fucked off with his performance and in particular his cowardly challenges but i don't see how it's helpful to abuse him or any other player during the game.
He looks scared to death any time he's playing at Anfield.

i am utterly ambivalent about the lego raptor. i have no idea whether he's shite or potentially very good.

I think this is an opportune moment to remind people of the following:

(i) Jordan Henderson cost 16 million pounds.
(ii) Yohan Cabaye cost 4 million pounds
(iii) Newcastle were NOT in the champions league last season

You can see why Henry and co. have their guns out, firing at anything that moves.

Pepe seemed impressed last night, so did Gerrard.

Exactly. And when we criticise the fact, we're deemed to be up Kenny's arse. Moo and a few others only come crawling out the woodwork post defeat. Would be nice to see them post every now and then when we have a win to celebrate, without making a point of reminding us we got beat the week before.

i'm not suggesting nor do i criticise you for you being ''up kenny's arse'', everyone will have their supporters, i'm merely questioning (quite rightly I believe) is he the right man for liverpool? unfortunately, i believe he isn't and this topic which i know annoys you, brings up a healthy debate amongst the pro and against kenny camps. it would be nice for me to post after a win, but unfortunately i'm a busy chap and a win has been a little rare this season.

I strongly WANT to believe he is ... I've read most of the stuff against him in the site, and I agree with most of it - but I still want to believe. I think he can get it right but I'd understand if he stepped down because he's unhappy with what he's done. That's where I stand at least - I guess it's called on the fence?

I think you are what is called "bi"

I think most of us feel like you do. It would be great if Kenny is the one who ultimately gets us the next league title and knocks Sir Alex off his perch.
But I've come to the conclusion that it's not gonna happen while Kenny is in charge.

Let's be honest. Most of us want him to be able to turn it around. However, theres been no evidence so far that he can.
We've suffered the same type of defeat a shocking amount of times.
I think we can all agree there's not a lot of trust when it comes to the transfer window.
