Bye Bye Kenny???????

Yes. They need to start at away matches, where the support is so much better.

I think that's a huge exaggeration. Fans in England are perhaps amongst the most patient and yet our young players are poor relative to those on the continent.

regardless of the atmosphere overseas, a footballer's formative years are late teens to early 20's and certain players may not recover if they are introduced to a struggling team with a crowd baying for results. look at the grief lucas was getting early in his career for example.

Exactly. And when we criticise the fact, we're deemed to be up Kenny's arse. Moo and a few others only come crawling out the woodwork post defeat. Would be nice to see them post every now and then when we have a win to celebrate, without making a point of reminding us we got beat the week before.

This. And the idea that a decision on whether any manager stays or goes should depend totally on winning or losing one game - even a Cup Final - is beyond daft. Whatever the decision, it should have been taken by now.

Except that he does seem to have recovered. 😉

Problem being is that anfield has nothing to be cheery about. If we were playing well and getting results then the crowd would be behind the team and more behind the young players. Sadly, we're not and the patience has been sapped away. Now we're looking for something to look forward to coming from the academy because we were spoiled with 4 of the best players to wear our shirt, and nothing has even come close since.

Every year its "......should play this year, he's better than what we've got"

Spearing, pacheco, insua, Dalle Valle, shelvey, suso, sterling. All over the last few years i've heard cries for. Will the last 3 be as successful as the former 4?

Probably.

Its about mental strength more often than not. Young players tend to not have much apart from the top drawer ones.

When a player can bounce back from years of being called a cunt then you know he's special.

He might be.

17 million, only 28 games and it is looking increasingly unlikely that we will get much - or even anything - back for him.

If that is not a horrendous transfer deal then what is?
Paying £20 million for a winger and getting 0 goals and 0 assists.

Ok, regards Henderson, what pisses me off is that most on here beg us to play these youngsters from the reserves, & beg for time to watch them develop.

We bought Henderson with a massive reputation in the under 21's for England & performing well for a 'lesser' club in this league.

If we put him in the reserves he'll be one of the stand out players every game, yet people wont give him time cos he's been put straight into the first team.

I just don't get it, Henderson is nowhere near as bad as many think, & will definitely improve, he cant do that when he's not playing.

In the glory days our big signings would often go into the ressies first, to get their feet properly under the table and learn what being a Liverpool player really entails. These days there's an expectation that big money signings have to go straight into the first team. I wish we had the courage to ignore that and get back to what we used to do with them, at least with younger players like Henderson (who I agree has potential).

Really? So even if a manager wins, say, the Champions League, if he doesn't do well in the league then he should be sacked?

Well the flaw in that argument is our current league position. And it's been that way for a few years now.

Plus the fact that I don't think Kenny will deliver in the transfer window this Summer.

I've got more time for Henderson that Spearing and his wavey hands!

He will improve and He will be a decent player for us. Problem being hes in a position where if you don't impose yourself, you detract from the team horribly.

Last night Shelvey was criticised on here even though he had a shot cleared off the line.

I don't think henderson was mentioned once, other than to say he's done nothing.

If you don't buy a ticket, you won't win the lottery. Hendersons lack of gambling is costing our attacking prowess. He has the ability but he's terrified of showing it off, almost like he doesn't want to. It's....bizarre. Frustration with him is whats causing the lack of patience. We have a player here, who playing i nthe first team for one of the biggest teams in the world.....yet he acts like he's still a sunderland player, in regards to "its better to keep the ball than lose it". While this is true at a basic level, its not good enough. Lucas coul get away with it because he was playing deepest, but henderson is meant to be a decent attacking force. Lucas got fucktons of stick when he did this when he was next to mascher.

This lad might come out the other side smelling of roses, but he needs to perform consistently and show us his ability more.

Spot on Fabs.
If he isn't strong enough mentally then he shouldn't be starting.

How is that a flaw?

You said that a manager should be judged on league form alone. So if that manager wins the Champions League, is it still the case that the league is all that matters?

If not, then what happens if the team is not in the Champions League, but wins other cup competitions? Can only win what you are in surely?

The reserves should be used to blood players like henderson into the Liverpool team and let them get to know their surroundings. You're taking the powder keg of fans away from the intial pressures. The second you add fans to the mix it can destroy a player. You should let him get comfortable and stable and happy with himself and then promote. Then, he should have the mentality to deal with it as he already feels like he has the support and the help of his team.

Hasn't hurt shelvey. He's had a few shockers recently but he's still trying to attack and still ploughing on. Hes not hiding and he's not scared. Hes playing his football, his way. The miss against norwich he apologised for on twitter. He knows he made an error and came our and highlighted the negative in a very accomplished performance. Hes trying to draw the criticism to himself to improve himself.

He has 2 goals, in a competition we might still end up winning

In any case, I am not saying that Downing is a good signing. He has been disappointing. But at the very least we might be able to sell him, for something.

We are struggling to give Aquilani away.

Its different for certain clubs surely? When a manager spends £100 odd million, and cannot improve the league position on last years, especially for a club that aspires to be in the Champions League, then its a poor reflection on the whole set up. Anyone can have a bit of luck in cup competitions, that has been seen throughout the years.

The league gives the proper indication of how a club progresses, and at this moment we have gone backwards.

I think Downing is going to be a key weapon for England in the Euro's, could come back a new confident man

**** wonders what I have been drinking ***

The worst thing is that Downing was very good for Villa last season, so its also obvious that confidence is a huge factor and that he's better than what we're currently seeing.

I'd give him one more season

I'll be surprised if Downing makes the squad.
Young, Walcott, Chamberlain, Milner ahead of him there's probably someone I'm forgetting.

I can't help think kenny has ruined Henderson. After 3-4 months of the season, it was clear that the lad wasn't mentally ready for the responsibility of starting for us and was struggling with the basics, let alone to stamp any kind of influence on a game. Even against shite teams. He should have been pulled out of the team, maybe even out of the squad until next season. But Kenny has continued to pick him, exacerbating his lack of form and confidence to a point where he may never recover (for us anyway). Shame as I think the kid has clearly got potential, he just isn't ready for the pressure that comes with our current standing in the league.

Pretty much how i feel regarding his ability. Hes declined since the beginning of the season and even then he wasn't great. He needs time out the squad. Perhaps a new manager can spark some life back into him?

I can. Its a total clusterfucking nightmare that I cant waken from.
To each his own. But getting 0 goals and 0 assists from a £20 Million or even 16 million "premiership proven" player is much worse than a shithouse Italian who managed 1 goal and 6 assists in 9 starts.

I agree with modo. Yes we can't shift aqua but he did alright when he did play and helped us score goals.

Downing...less so.
