Bye Bye Kenny???????

I think you have to look for some kind of overarching plan and gradual improvement.

I'm sure Kenny does have a plan but I can't work out what it is and we've gotten progressively worse.

Sure as The Lying Rag rising is this thread appearing after every draw or loss.

Unfortunately you seem to have missed the point, its the frequency with which we draw/lose that keeps this thread relevant. Its not like people are digging it up every six months to have a shot at the manager. If it was anybody other than the king in charge you can be sure the title wouldnt be as polite as "bye bye kenny"

The criticism is deserved, the thread is valid, there are serious questions to be asked about his management, he is not "entitled" to the job, if he doesnt perform he should be judged by the same yardstick as anybody else

I am stating an observation just like when our winning match day thread is half of a losing/drawing thread. Just saying.

3 wins in 13 games. Worst goal tally and home record in 60 years.
Nearly half the points of the League leaders.

Its actually an easy desicion. But potentially 2 cup wins make it a bit harder.
The worst thing for me though, is that when you sum up the season we havent progressed on the pitch. I'd actually say that we've gone backwards from the end of last season. Thats a massive worry.

1) losing your best (only?) holding midfielder.
2) losing your most creative player for 8 games
3) for best striker (bellamy imho) only available for half the games
4) captain in and out of the side and no clear defined position for him
5) too much inexperience in key positions (henderson)
6) confidence sapping misses all season

all factors in our slide down the table

Here I was thinking a cup win might give the players confidence neil.

If anything its drained them dry.

Lucas has been missed but surely we should have bought another dm if Spearing isn't good enough.

And even if Bellamy was available for only half the games... He hasn't actually played in half the games has he?

I think it's unfair to call Downing a failure. Ok, he had a really shit start, but lately he's been improving big time. So of the crosses he puts in are immense, but we have no one to finish the job off.

I wouldn't mind if we get a new manager and he rips this team apart.
Keep Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Bellers and Suarez. The rest are fair game.
Have a fire sale, show everyone who isn't contributing the door.
Promote youth players and reserves like Adorjan, McLaughlan, Suso, Sterling, Robinson and Eccleston.
Use the money we get from the fire sale to buy the 3-4 quality players we need.
Bring back Aquilani.

I saw better crossing yesterday by Aurelio, and he's hasn't played since January.

Suarez missing a month of football should have no negative impact on matches 3 months on..

We quite simply arent good enough.

Bar: pepe,skrtel,agger,enrique,suarez,gerrard, weve got nothing.

Its depressing as fuck.

Improving big time?

Immense?

We must be watching different games. Downing is a failure.

The simple fact of the matter is that the manager should be judged on league form. I think Kenny will leave even if he wins the FA cup. It will be one of those 'mutual consent' things.

I'd give these 18-19 year olds at least 2-3 years.
If they're as old as Hendo and cant play, questions should be asked.

Dear god, 34 games in the league and yet not a goal or an assist. That isn't down to poor finishing. He's been utterly utterly abject. And for 20 million, one of the worst signings we've made in the last decade. And that's as fairly as I can put it.

Really? So even if a manager wins, say, the Champions League, if he doesn't do well in the league then he should be sacked?

I think he's the worst signing we've made in the last 20 years ... Robbie Keane and Aquilani both contributed on the pitch, and showed they knew what they were doing despite not really being given a chance. Downing, despite a ton of games, has done little - if anything - to make me think even 100 pounds of that fee was worthwhile.

Haha...no one can ever call Aquilani the worst transfer ever.

What time frame will you give them if they're not as good as you expected? or if they struggle at the beginning?

something has happened to our fans are anfield, we're silent, impatient and we moan at every misplaced pass. now you introduce a kid to that environment and if they aren't mentally touch it could destroy them.

a motm performance in the carling cup has got to be worth £100 quid.

I think that's a huge exaggeration. Fans in England are perhaps amongst the most patient and yet our young players are poor relative to those on the continent.

Yes. They need to start at away matches, where the support is so much better.

He might be.

17 million, only 28 games and it is looking increasingly unlikely that we will get much - or even anything - back for him.

If that is not a horrendous transfer deal then what is?

Downing is simply Downing.

Nothing more, nothing less.

He runs up & down one stretch of pitch reasonably well & struggles to do anything more.

He's creatively bereft, he can do simply as he's told, this doesn't seem to work too well under Kenny.
