Kelleher - good saves, rode his luck at times

Trent - quality, but a bit lackadaisical. Nice assist for the 2nd.
Konate - superb. Most pleasingly, he is improving on the ball.
Virgil - doing Virgil things
Robbo - good energy, but lacking quality at times

Gravvy - passing was slightly off, but everything else superb. Love those powerful runs from deep!
Alexis - excellent throughout and an early contender for pass of the season
Szobo- didn’t do much on the ball

Diaz - in the form of his life, long it may continue
Nunez - goal will do him good. Got in the way of other players sometimes.
Salah - a few nice moments, but will be frustrated not to do more.

Subs:
Jones - excellent cameo
Gakpo - too bad about Robbo’s misplaced pass when he was in a great position against an isolated defender
Chiesa - lively

Slot - made the right choice with Diaz and Nunez up front for this game. Showed that Forest was a blip.

Pleasing all round performance. We didn't get out of gear in the second half but then there was no need to.

Robertson looks physically back to his best. I think we confused him playing with pain last year with aging. He looks as lively as ever.

Trent was sloppy at times, especially in the second half but there was some lovely drives through the middle which led to the second.

Grav look a while to get going but it was another very complete performance and Jones impressed off the bench. Szobo should be looking over his shoulder.

I'm sure Arne would like to see more control but I love that we're still so entertaining to watch

BTW the one time that Salah chose to pass when in great position, Nunez messed up by not making a run accross the defender - he should have gambled, but was caught on his heels. You could see a look of instant regret on Mo’s face…

After a while they stop making runs, because there's a 95% chance the pass will never come.
Nah, that one’s on Nunez. You have to make those runs every time and give your teammate - even if it’s Salah - a bollocking if the pass doesn’t come. That’s what all top strikers do.

Curtis was meh today, and I love the dickhead. Stats never tell the whole story. Gravenberch was the best player on the park. Can't believe he dragged Diaz off when he was on a hatrick, again, and Salah was a) playing shit and b) in chiesa's best position.

…and to think people were calling for Gakpo to start ahead of form-of-his-life Diaz after one decent game midweek…

The squad is obvs very good and that makes the decisions difficult, I just can't get the idea that you take off Diaz for Chiesa today when Salah was playing like Calvert Lewin and Diaz was playing like Roy of the Rovers
I think Salah is trying to prove that he’s worthy of the contract extension. If only he’d realise that if passes to a better-placed teammate, he’ll still get plaudits.
He’s taking up some excellent positions. To pass to teammates.

If this is the case he needs benching because that’s not the way to win shiny things.

Slot needs to rest Konate before he breaks down again. He was struggling to run near the final whistle.

Bournemouth had caused us alot of problems just running right through the middle. For all of Macca / Grav's excellence, they do not really tackle or put their body in the way like traditional DMs do.

So who starts against West Ham in midfield? Jones will surely start; Endo wasn’t in the squad today and should be a lock to start, but there is also a Nyoni-Morton partnership developing in the U21’s. Who will miss out?

Up front, obviously Chiesa at RW, Gakpo LW and I would actually give Jota a bit more rest (he will definitely start against Wolves) and continue with Darwin up front, hoping he will build on today’s performance.

It's too early in Slot's tenure to give that game to the U21. It'll be a mix of squad players and starters (e.g VvD).

Oh so you just missed Diaz, Nunez, Jota, Szobo etc holding their hands out like "WTF?!", every time Salah fucks up?

To be fair, we have a full complement of backup first-team players to make up an 11:

Kelleher
Bradley
Quansah
Gomez
Tsimikas
Endo
Jones
Elliott when fit, but will be Nyoni or Morton this time
Chiesa
Gakpo
Darwin

You guys need to calm down. There’s time to discuss West Ham when Brizz decides to stop being a nerd.
