Boring James Milner

I don't remember what game it was, but twice his ancle took a bad hit from someone flying in With feet above the ground, and instead of that rolling around pretending to be dead he just shook it off. He is really a superb guy. Love that attitude. If you are going to win the duells he is in you better be prepared to kill him.

There's quite a bit of evidence that would suggest Milner's ankles and joints are made of a hard mahogany-type wood, so I doubt he even felt it.

Keeper?
LB
Babbel
CB
Finnan
Milner
McCallister
Hamman
Litmanen
CF
CF

Anyone fill in the blanks?
Im thinking of players who only had one or two seasons here towards the very end if their careers but had a massive impact and are still highly thought of by the fans.

Anelka maybe although he had years in him when we fucked up and let him go

Keeper - Dunno Friedel maybe
LB - Steve Staunton
CB - Touré
RB - Babbel

Lets get this back on track with some looooove for Milner. Missionary position only!

Should never have been sold in the first place.

The "Sold Too Soon" thread has probably been done, but I was always a bit unhappy that we let Beardo go, given the subsequent years he performed at a high level for Everton and Newcastle.

Always made me laugh when Peter Hague kicked up a big fuss about the signing saying he were overpaying.

Milner has been a great signing by the club. I wish we had done it years before we did.

Coming into the team at around 28 years old, I quite liked Mark Wright. He had his injuries and struggled for form a bit, but he was a solid pro.

Overpaying? Er......what?

Sounds more like something Dreamy would say.

I must say, I'm enjoying Dreamy resurrecting his old Forum persona: the no-holds-barred, consensus-wrecking, straight-talking, giving us the hard facts and making us confront the difficult truths, one.

He did it for a while a few years ago and it was equally hilarious. Even if he's still not sure if he's objective or subjective, because he doesn't know what they mean.

It's a wonder.

Interestingly I cant find any sign of Peter Hague on here. User or posts.
How did that happen.
Anyway. He hated the signing. Wish I could find the thread.

Peter Hague had a few entertaining meltdowns. I think one of his dog-whistles was Rodgers and the transfer committee, and there was another where he belatedly realised he was presenting two diammetrically opposed opinions and was essentially arguing with himself.

Nothing on the scale of an Original Dreamy or spider-neil, though. Like we could get that lucky.

Yeah I do remember he always posited that anyone good was signed by the committe anyone bad was signed by the manager. Or the other way round. He often used selected information to back his case.

If I recall, he didn't use any information at all, just had a list of bad signings (= Rodgers alone) and good signings (= Transfer committee, no input - or possibly even active opposition from Rodgers)

Or was it the other way around?

Shows you how persuasive he was.

Sounds like a man who doesn't compromise on principles. We need more like that!!

In fairness to the guy he acknowledged publicly on here that his posts were going OTT too often and said he was leaving the forum for that reason. I'd had the occasional run-in with him myself, but I thought he did himself credit in the way he left.

There was a persistent rumour at the time that Souness did it largely on Kenny's advice.

Hmm. I remember when the euphoria around Kenny's second coming was somewhat tempered for me by thinking about some of the truly horrible transfer decisions he had made while managing Newcastle. Nobody's perfect, not even The King, but some of those calls were appalling.

And then we got Charlie Adam, Downing and Carroll.
