Benteke

I can't stand that in every fucking game he just tries that shit whereby he doesn't bother to challenge the header and loiters behind the defender hoping he will screw up to let him in.

Newsflash Benteke, it doesn't work because not everyone is as shit as you at their jobs.

People who advocates Benteke starting over Origi should just look at that Origi assist. Benteke can't manage that in a million years. In the same senario the ball will just run away from him at his second or third touch.

Balotelli contributes to the play more than this fella and that's saying alot.

Christian Benteke, Michy Batshuayi and Alexandre Lacazette are transfer targets for West Ham

West Ham have identified Christian Benteke, Michy Batshuayi and Alexandre Lacazette as priority transfer targets as they chase one of Europe's top centre-forwards this summer, Sky sources understand.
The Hammers are on course to finish in a European qualification spot and could even claim a Champions League place, and they believe they are in a position to attract the best talent.
The club have earmarked Marseille's Batshuayi, Liverpool's Benteke and Lyon's Lacazette, and sources in France have told Sky Sports News HQ they are prepared to pay as much as £40m to land one of these players.

Benteke has struggled to nail down a first-team place at Liverpool since Jurgen Klopp's arrival and his future at Anfield remains uncertain.
The Belgium international has not started a Premier League game since January 2 against West Ham and he has scored just once in his last 16 appearances.
Interest Benteke's 22-year-old fellow Belgian Batshuayi, meanwhile, is high, and he would be available for upwards of £30m.

Tottenham, Newcastle, Stoke, Juventus and Atletico Madrid have all made inquiries and, on the back 17 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions this season, he is expected to move on this summer.
France international Lacazette, 24, has scored 16 goals in 35 appearances for Lyon this season.

If this comes from sources in France, that suggests Benteke is third on the list behind the two France-based players. Another indication of that is the fact that we'd never get £40 mill.for him, whereas I can well believe Aulas at Lyon will try and charge something of that order for Lacazette (don't know much about Batshuayi so I don't know how realistic that would be in his case).

Mmmm ... let me think ... he'll go on a couple of year long loan deals, with us paying 50% of his gigantic salary, then fuck off somewhere permanently for about 12mil once his contract has 12 months left.
You couldn't make it up. Except you could, when it's us.

Even that'll be patchy. There'll be times when he looks unstoppable and times when we'll look like geniuses for having got a fee for him. It's a shame, because I do think he has ability and on a personal level I quite like the guy, but he hasn't got the right character to make the most of his gifts.

He's definitely gone, I don't think there's any two ways about it. From Klopp's refusal to play him, to his public berating of him during games for each moment of stupidity or indecision. When we've fucked up this season, a few times Klopp has had a go from the sidelines at Benteke, when it's often been a combination of poor decisions throughout the team. I didn't see him bollocking Lucas for the West Ham freeekick (for example). So when a managers mind is set like that, he's not being in any way subtle about it, which is odd considering he wanted to buy him for Dortmund and only backed out due to the fee. That's kinda worrying actually.

I've seen differing reports of the reason why Klopp eventually turned the move down. Some say what you do above, but I've also seen suggestions that that was something of a fig-leaf and that the real reason was that Klopp ultimately wasn't persuaded Benteke would adapt to gegenpressing.

Klopp should no be just pointing the blame on benteke if that really is the case. Thats just wrong and in normal working life an emplyee would have a legitimate case against their manager. I dont think you could say we lost a game because benteke did something wrong.

Nobody, and that includes Klopp, would say we lost the game because Benteke did something wrong, moron.

Unless you think that Klopp was actually shouting at him "We lost the game because you did something wrong Benteke! I blame you for this defeat!"

Benteke brought all this on himself for being lazy when he was the only fit striker at the club. It was too late to start working harder after the others came back from injury. Plus his dreadful finishing didn't help his cause.

Shame really. I like the idea of him.

He is better than what he is currently showing, but as many said when he came onto our radar, he doesn't fit with our style!
Shambolic stuff really.

I am not a.huge fan of Benteke but my biggest worry is that there is a dearth of decent quality strikers in Europe whom we can buy. It would be unfair to expect Origi to lead the line. For his limited minutes and misses, Benteke is one of our top goal scorers. Origi rarely threatens to score.

Looking around Europe all the top quality goal scorers are playing for Barcelona, Madrid, Juve, Bayern, Dortmund. There is going to be significant competition for the ones with the potential to be great - lacazette, Batshu...And there is no guarantee that those two can deliver in the Premier League.

I am also not a huge fan of Benteke and was against his signing. But whim do we buy to replace him in the 20-40 million price range.

Yeah, top quality strikers are hard to find. Benteke leaving does mean that we have to look though. Perhaps Klopp and co can pull another Lewandowski out of the hat, because we can't just rely on Sturridge and Ings.

I can see Klopp bringing in a big striker regardless, I just don't get the impression he's that sold on Sturridge, going off the way he's handled him, his injury record and the fact he's not really a striker who is going to work hard from the front (which is why the lesser scoring workhorse Firmino has figured, alot).

Dearth of quality strikers in europe ? Try the entire world. I cannot remember a time where there were so few quality players in world football. The focus on physical stuff has left most players without a necessary football brain. I blame a lot of it on modern coaching and youngsters not learning in playgrounds and other shitty surfaces. Truly we are witnessing a time in football where the best players will be from countries and places that dont have the best academies.

Get rid of Benteke but dont expect much from whoever replaces him. They are all just utter shit and inconsistent out there now.

So all Klopp needs to do is repeat what Houllier did in 1999 ( which I consider one of our greatest transfer windows in the last 25 years) plus fix our attack. Me thinks the expectation on him is a tad too much.

The expectation might be, but it's only as complicated as we/he makes it. We all know what positions need strengthening, it doesn't have to be big Worldy's all across the team, just players that fit what we are trying to do and give us the edge in the areas where we lack it.

It's never been that particularly easy for us to buy strikers though. In the PL era, you can only say Torres and Suarez have been genuine successes. I would add Sturridge too if he's not so injury prone. The next best is probably Heskey and then it goes downhill pretty fast from there.

Well we were lucky that we had Owen and Fowler for several years too, Torres and Suarez are two of the greatest strikers to grace the Premiership, Heskey was unplayable for 2 seasons, Collymore had a great season but was a mentalist. Crouch, Kuyt, Riedle, Camara and Bellamy were good, modest buys too. Benteke, Carroll, Diouf and Cisse were poor though. And expensive.
