"I fully respected his time as manager". You used to disappear when we won games and show up in match threads when we were getting beat to gloat and call him useless. Not trolling, honest.

His time as a manager previously, sorry for not being clearer.

Yeah just on Internet forums to complete strangers you sad fuck.
You going to report this too?

Why would I report this? As you can clearly see from my last post I was merely doing it to annoy mark and it obviously did, and you too by all accounts.

Only mentioned it to perhaps show that I have had a footballing background, which may show I have some substance in why I don't believe Rogers is the right manager (such as his tactics etc.....) Obviously things like his mannerisms etc... that's just purely a personal opinion about is character and nothing linked to my footballing experience.

Oh well, obviously didn't help.

Oh, thats ok then.

Yes. What 's wrong for not wanting him to be our manager second time round? It doesn't mean I didn't respect him for being Kenny and what he stood for previously. I just felt FSG got it wrong, and that was the case in the end. Yes yes, maybe I was a little selective in my posts then, but I'm only going to use the appropriate evidence to support my claim at the time.

Some people are a little precious

I still have some doubts. Mostly concerning his involvement - or lack of it - in build up play. He stays out of it, even to the point that he doesn't come short to receive for the layoff often enough. That was fine last night against the likes of Bournemouth, but against the top sides who'll make it harder, and give you less of the ball, you need all players – even your #9 – to play their part in breaking down defences. Has he got a trick? A bit of skill to unlock a defence? I’m not sure, and I’m nitpicking to an extent cos he’s started well but that’s always been my concern with this signing – can he involve himself enough in the build-up, because the days of a out and out number 9 are gone.

Anyway, to his credit… He works far harder than I thought he did, he’s unruffled by defenders – sometimes you see strikers just hanging around one defender (exactly like that dude did who stood next to Lovren all last night for B’mouth) cos they think they’re a softer touch – Benteke just wanders round battering into everyone with no fucks given, and he fucking loves running in behind which is the best thing about him. I talked that up in the ‘why are we buying Benteke’ thread cos that’s the one thing he brings that helps us more than anything; that willingness to make the run and stretch the defence, something Sturridge doesn’t do enough, which just lengthens the pitch and allows space for the Coutinho’s of the world to drift into the #10 role.

I didn't see it quite like that, I saw quite a few times where he and Coutinho/Lallana/Milner would link up, playing a couple of quick passes, trying to get one of them in behind. Sure it was mainly in and around their box, as he didn't really drop back, so what you say is correct, but to say he wasn't involved in our build up play is a bit much. I'd also imagine he was under instruction to stay high up the pitch too.

I saw it this way too. It was bit of both in my view, with the midfleld not really trying to get in behind and because of that, Benteke had to occupy the defenders and make sure there was at least some space. He dropped off a couple of times, however our wingers, Coutinho (cut inside, rather than running in behind) and Ibe (hugging the touchline, trying make space and seemingly nervous to get in behind) didn't really try and get beyond him.

I thought play was positive at times and at least we were trying things. Over the next few games I'm sure we'll see both these things happening more as they get used to each other.

Benteke is not a bad player at all - he'll be a very useful player for us over the years if used correctly. The major issue with signing a player for 32.5 million is that you'd expect him to transform your attack, to be a real go to guy. I don't think Benteke will ever be that player.

That said, if he scores about 70 goals over the next 4 years, he'll have been a solid signing. It's up to us to use him correctly and get that kind of return.

Careful with that kind of talk.

You sound practically deranged. 😉

I think everyone is on the same page as dmishra. The forum was practically split on Benteke prior to him joining us. IIRC, the majority would have been willing to opt for another target if possible. He's here now so people are being supportive and hoping he bangs them in for us. He's started brightly and has already scored us a goal to win us three points.

So why do I get abuse in general - and a withering critique from you in particular - for saying pretty much the same thing?

Let's be very clear I was leading the charge on Benteke from the off. @Piedro makes similar claims but I've yet to see the evidence...

You seem to be getting abuse in general due to this OTT Anti Rodgers stance you have taken. You are totally allowed your opinions but you've added unnecessary hate and bile to your posts which has spilled across a multiple of threads. Any player deemed a pet or purchase of Rodgers is in your firing line and your posts about wanting us to lose (albeit initially in jest) simply wind up people who want us to win at all costs regardless of who plays or manages us. A lot of your posts of late just seem one flimsy dig at Rodgers, a man many don't like anyway. Enjoy the games, enjoy the recent wins and try be a bit more positive. I don't know where you find your motivation to splash such bile around a forum of a team you support.

Plus you had that ridiculous performance in the Rodgers Vs Mrs Rodgers thread. Plus I presume your general tone and rudeness isn't helping. People aren't being overly precious (well perhaps some are), but you are being a bit of prick. Hence general abuse being thrown your way of late.

I don't recall your brilliant counter arguments to my case in that divorce discussion. I'll check later to see what they were.

I mean, you wouldn't just be hurling insults in lieu of actually being able to challenge me with sound reasoning, would you? You know, a safety in numbers, 'everyone else thinks that so I should too' kind of thing?

You reverted to type almost immediately there. Are you like this in real life? It must be hard finding people to converse and engage with you due to your 'superior intellect', you know, the one YOU keep attributing to yourself.

As for the divorce case, I think I posted a couple of times in it. It had gotten to the stage where people had to take a number, form a queue and tell you what a boring bean counter you were being. I don't think that's me hiding behind the idea of safety in numbers. I've been on this forum long enough to speak my mind. It's more of a case of people thinking you're a rude boorish man Peter.

But then again, it's probably a persona or something, just not a very good one in my opinion.

I'm quite happy to finish the argument via PM if you like? I'll look at your replies and give them the attention they deserve.

If I had a penny for each time a thread has descended into an argument between Peter and X, I'd have enough cash for a Freddo.
