And Sturridge has shown himself to be quite injury prone. Then it's the problem of finding the formation that utilises the 3 of them well

Not quite what I meant, I should clarify. It doesn't have to be Sturridge or Firmino, it could be any of the midfielders or attackers, it's just a case of building familiarity with Benteke then those players will start making the runs .. so long as Rodgers allows them to.

I was impressed with Benteke last night. He is obviously a good player but I wasn't sure he was the right fit for us. If he continues to bang them in then I won't care what I once thought. Delighted he got his goal last night, the winning goal in fact. It will be interesting to see how we line out with Sturridge in the team when/if he returns.
Would the succession of people claiming that Benteke is the equal of Suarez and Torres please desist?

All we need is for Benteke to hit 22 goals per season for 8 years rather than Emile's 1.

I don't really have a problem with your Suarez point, but Benteke might see us adjust in a good way longer term, because he certainly gives us the bit of presence upfront that we lack and we also might start to vary our approach, than just our standard cut and thrust attacking on the break.
I *get* that people don't generally like target men, but labeling him one is an injustice IMO, he's got alot more to his game than the orthodox centre forward, certainly in terms of being clinical. He's a good addition we arguably overpaid for, but if he bags us 15+ goals and we (in general, through his play) add more goals from other areas and other players (Ings, Sturridge, Milner, etc), then maybe the money will be seen as less of an issue.
Hope we win the league under him, just to piss you off, mr moo.

I can support the team without liking the manager. I don't see what's difficult to understand. Big LFC and football fan, played football to a reasonable level, been involved with the medical side of things also. So I'd like to think I have a good understanding about the game. True it doesn't mean I'm always right, but i lke to think I'm right a fair amount of the time. So based on that and what I've seen from him, I don't like him as a manager. Pretty sure, no actually I can guarantee I wouldn't like him as a person either. Probably a similar view other posters have of me on here, but tbf I don't care.

Kevin Keegan was a great player but a shit manager, I'm struggling to see what any relevance any of that has. In fact, more and more successful managers are coming through with little experience as players. With regards to Kenny, i fully respected his time as a player and manager. Just didn't think he was right man to go to post budgie and I was proved right, just as I think I'll be proven right about Rogers. As I've said before, the forums are for all views and opinions. I'll always support the the players and team, but I feel so strongly against Rogers that should we struggle early doors that maybe a lesser of two evils as opposed to seeing Rogers hinder our progress. I really do believe that if he's here the long term it'll be more detrimental to our future progress. Yes as people keep saying we've got 2 from 2, but the same problems are still evident from the previous seasons.
