AVB

I probably wouldn't care if most spurs supporters were Jewish. I just don't think they are nowadays.

It's gone from reclaiming the word, to using it ironically/historically

I'm just not a fan of that. It can be used offensively and it is a racial slur still.

But besides ltw, I don't know many Jewish people, so I don't know if it's acceptable or not.

Cloggy - I'd love to come watch some Ajax games with my mates. It would be well fun to practice close quarter combat techniques.

Way to early to get rid, most likely end of season, when cappello is available - connections with Baldini....

Daily Mail claims that Luis Enrique from Celta Vigo is favorite to take over should AVB get the sack with Laudrup as Baldini's 2nd choice.

And why? Because they associate themselves with Jews/Israel etc and take a lot of flak for it (it's an interesting story - read some long articles about it a few years ago). Since it doesn't really happen in England unless a team is facing Spurs, it seems that their 'control' of the word brings out some nasty nasty stuff.

Hang on... correlation doesn't imply causation. The hissing started before Spurs fans reclaimed the lingo.

Ah right. Well it goes a bit deep over there. The Ajax ultras fucking hate Feyenoord coz they see Rotterdam as some Islamic hub. So you know... shit cuts both ways.

[article=http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/football-lord-sugar-wants-fire-avb-121008473--sow.html]Former Tottenham chairman Lord Sugar wants Sir Alex Ferguson to come out of retirement and replace current Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas.Villas-Boas' position as Tottenham manager has come under scrutiny in recent weeks because of a dip in form.

Tottenham lost 6-0 at Manchester City on Sunday and Sugar has become bemused with the way the Portuguese has set his team out in recent matches.

Sugar's main role in TV show The Apprentice is to fire contestants who are not up to the job, and the successful entrepreneur, who now sits in the House of Lords, clearly feels Villas-Boas has not been up to scratch himself so far.

"I've struggled to understand AVB's tactics," Sugar told talkSPORT "You wonder how we are going to get a goal.

"Four, five or even six games before [the 6-0 defeat to Manchester City] you couldn't see where the goals were coming from.

"The formation that AVB plays, I don't understand at all. I put my hands up, I am no great football expert, but I don't understand it at all."

And Sugar would like to see Ferguson replace Villas-Boas.

"My dream would be that my good friend Sir Alex Ferguson will get itchy feet in about a year or so and decide he wants to get back into management and maybe bring his wonderful wife down to London and manage our team," Sugar added.

"If he comes to watch the game, I will suggest some nice houses for him and his wife to stay in."

A £100million summer spending spree raised hopes among the Tottenham faithful, but that hope has given way to fear, especially as a rampant Manchester United team are due at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Sugar added: "(Chairman) Daniel Levy did a very good deal with [Gareth] Bale. He was going, there was nothing he could do about it, and he has given (sporting director) Franco Baldini the money to go out and spend, but I wonder if it is just a case of spending for the sake of spending it.

"Maybe we should have sat back a few moments and been a bit selective, a bit like (Arsenal boss) Arsene Wenger."[/article]

I don't think for a minute that Sugar was being serious, or that there's the slightest chance of it happening even if he had been. Ferguson's far too busy having a whale of a time in retirement and I doubt he'd ever entertain the idea of managing anyone but ManUre anyway. That article is a bit of copy and paste by some lazy hack on a slow news day.

They beat the mancs and this pressure will come off him quicker than you can imagine.

It'd surely have to be a first for a manager coming to England for the first time, managing two clubs and working for less than a year.

I think he's got plenty to prove but to be sacked after less than half a season when it's practically a whole new team would be mental.

Fabs, I appreciate what you're saying but I completely disagree.

My recently departed mum was Jewish, which makes me Jewish myself racially, and I lost relatives in the camps in WW2. I'm not Jewish by religion but part of my heritage is, I've thumped somebody before now (admittedly a long time ago) for casual anti-Semitism on the football field, and I very definitely do not need anybody getting offended on my behalf at what the Spurs fans decide to call themselves. On the contrary, I applaud them for it. They've taken a word which was used towards them as an insult, and they've totally robbed it of its power by turning it around and using it as a pure nickname. Most of them aren't even Jewish but, as far as I'm concerned, by doing this they're showing solidarity with their Jewish pals AND showing up the idiots who used it as an insult in the first place for the knuckledraggers that they are.

Without wanting to step on toes, what is the 'Jewish Race'? What are the genetic similarity between an Ethiopian Jew and a Yiddish Jew? I get what a Jew is if his practising Judaism.

If you look that closely at genetics does race exist or are we all the same?

Probably not the place for this really.

Yiddish is a language mate, so you can be a Yiddish speaking Jew but not a Yiddish Jew.

There are various tests (bone density, genetics etc) that highlight similarities in most groups (ethiopians included). There was a recent test that showed how all of Ashkenazi Jewry can be traced back to 4 women. This is off topic so last point ...Judaism - as a religion - is never discussed once in the Old Testament.

So all/most jews share a similar genetic trait that would be absent in me?

Wenger was a shitcunt at the beginning of the season and most fans wanted him out and the press were on his back.
They sign ozil, win a load of games and all of a sudden he's the messiah again.
Fans and the press are full of shit.
If they beat utd, watch it turn. Even if they don't beat united, but go on a run after that it'll all turn.

[article=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2515558/Andre-Villas-Boas-orders-Tromso-fan-ejected-chanting-sacked-morning.html#ixzz2m2hOpAOh ]Andre Villas-Boas was so incensed by a Tromso supporter suggesting that he was to be 'sacked in the morning' that he asked for the heckler to be ejected.

The Tottenham boss could hear the offending chant from behind his dug-out during the 2-0 Europa League win in Norway

Reidar Stenersen jnr was booted out of the Alfheim Stadion moments after Villas-Boas moaned about his song at half-time.

'I first sung after five minutes that he would be 'sacked in the morning' and he looked at me,' Stenersen told Nordlys, a Norwegian newspaper. 'At the half-time whistle, when it was still 0-0 and I started the same song, he pointed at me and suddenly the security came and threw me out.

'I know he is under a lot of pressure so I think my words hit him, even though I am only a little guy in little Tromso. He was being a bit petulant. This is the same thing that can be sung by 60,000 at the Emirates Stadium or other grounds.'

Pressure has steadily mounted on the Portuguese this season as he struggles to blend the vast array of talent wedged through the White Hart Lane doors to counter the loss of Gareth Bale to Madrid.

The situation has escalated to the farcical, with former owner Lord Sugar calling for Spurs to tempt Sir Alex Ferguson into replacing Villas-Boas.

Tromso's head of security, Hans-Thore Hanssen, confirmed that a fan had been moved after the 36-year-old made a complaint to a nearby Uefa inspector. 'He was asked to move to the other side,' Hanssen said. 'I was not there when the incident happened so what he may have shouted, I cannot say.

'But I know that he [Villas-Boas] had spoken to the Uefa inspector who, in turn, spoke to our security. The situation was handled correctly. If there is verbal abuse shouted, the supporter should be spoken to and, in some cases, thrown out. In this type of match, there is greater security.'[/article]
