So basically we have a load of posters waiting with "I told you so's" for when he turns out shit, having never seen him play, but based purely on the circumstances of the transfer, his height and that he's a Lucas halfbreed, what with being Brazilian.

you can add to that list the reaction of the juventus fans to this move but i don’t think there are that many i told to so’s in the wings, it’s mostly banter and gallows humour.

I’m hoping for the best but expecting the worst probably like most of us

Come on Mark, most of us were clearly joking. Well at least i know i was. It's 6CM.

I mean, after watching that clip, i was gonna retract what i said...and call him the Brazilian Gini instead.

Based on very little but optimism and some of his time at Barca I think he may pleasantly surprise a few. If only because expectations are very low and he's not actually that bad. Unlike some players we sign (Shaq/Minamino) there's a ready made role in the team for him to fit into without being asked to completely change his game. He's the Thiago stunt double effectively. He will get mins when we can't or don't want to play Thiago. We've got to use Thiago better, rest him every couple of games rather than just playing him constantly til he breaks down.

I was but jesting. But it was a bit comical that two days ago everyone was like "who?" and now everyone's an expert.

To be fair, Thiago can break down after a rest too. He did it first game of the season.

Like you haven't done it before.

That's why most of us come onto 6CM, so we can vent and say things we normally wouldnt say in person. It's the derby. Tensions are high. We all have our ways to deal with anxieties.

You're a veteran, surely you'd know how things work on here by now.

He can but for me Thiago is the guy you want available for all your big games. Hes arguably the best in the world at what he does. Last year he missed one cup final with injury and and was rushed back from injury too early for another. We all know his limitations but the club seem to just disregard them and keep playing him until something gives. If Arthur can play the Thiago role for 10-12 games and save his legs for the really critical matches then I think it could well be worth it.

Both Barca and Juventus fans are pretty damning of both his performances and his level of professionalism, so there's more to it than that.

People need to calm down.

This is a loan move - its a win win no matter how you look at it.

Who gives a toss what Juventus fans say about him - everyone here knows how much I love Serie A, once a player is on the outer no one gives a shit about them, they'll say anything. Why do you think players move so freely between Juve, Inter and AC?

Also - he may have not succeeded in Italy, but that's not to say he can't succeed in England.

Look at Diego Forlan for example - struggled in England, exceptional in Spain.

Then look at post world cup 2006 - Cannavaro Zambrotta Thuram bailed on Juve and went to Spain and they were nothing like the players we knew them to be.

Luis Alberto - junk for us, a revelation for Lazio - there are no set rules when it comes to this.

Momo Sissoko - brilliant for us, not so much for Juve.

It may or may not work out - but at the end of the day there's no reason to trash a LOAN signing.

Hes gonna play against Napoli right? I mean Carvalho limped off against Everton and Jones wasn't even in the squad.

A few details have been released in regards to the loan deal:

Paying 4 mill £ for the loan
Wages covered at about 60/40 by us
32 mill fee agreed if we want to make it permanent, paid over 2 years
A contract is already agreed with Arthur if we make it permanent

That's a pretty good deal!

As long as we get another top drawer CM.

if his singing means no Jude etc, then I’ll actually cry real tears.

If we don't bring in another top MF it won't be because of Arthur's, er, singing. 😉 I'm actually hopeful though that the fact that this is a loan signing means something big - whether Jude or someone else of real quality - is in the works for later. I can't believe the owners are blind to the fact that we need reinforcements in that area. They're too canny for that to be the case. Rightly or wrongly, the delay surely has to be for financial reasons.

The option to buy, should it be exercised, is fine, as long as it doesn’t mean we don’t get a mega bucks CM due to the then lack of funds. I don’t want two Arthurs. I’d like a Jude and an Arthur please.

Can we afford for Artur to be a dud?

Henderson - crab
Millie - old
Thiago - yeah for 30 games
Keita & ox - fuck off
Harvey and the yoofs- well, they are youths.

We literally always an injury to fab or thiago or Elliott (off recent) from disaster ..

So we really Artur to be good enough to play regularly , don't we ? Or we hobble into 3rd /4th or worse ?!

Kieta replacement - fuck him off, Arthur is already less injured.

I’m all for Caicedo, Jude & Jacob Ramsey over the next 2 windows.

They’ll we’re back to searching for a new CB.
